Also, if any of you web gurus can help clear something up for me, I'm not sure I quite understand how all this works..
I currently have two .co.uk domains, one is as I understand it with my current ISP PlusNet. This is my main domain, I use the website for photos of nights out and rubbish and also for dumping anything useful to and uploading photos I post on forums etc. I also use it as my main e-mail domain.
I have just registered another .co.uk domain with 1&1 and this is currently doing nothing but I am planning to use this for a small part-time business venture.
I've been trying to chat to the online sales team for the 3ix I posted above, but I'm a little confused. I assumed when I cancelled my PlusNet account that I would have to transfer the .co.uk domain out to another ISP otherwise it will either be lost or left in limbo as such? 3ix tell me that they don't currently transfer .co.uk domains but that I can just change the nameservers that this domain points to with my registrar to the 3ix nameservers and it will all work hunkey-dorey. Is this right?
Surely once I cancel the PlusNet account, I won't be able to get in and control where the nameservers point to and I'll be stuck? Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick..
Also, if I transfer the domain, or change the nameservers or whatever I have to do, how long will not be able to use the domain and the e-mail for while the transfer takes place? I'm quite eager not to be without it for long as I don't want important e-mails bouncing off?
Please help!
