I'd check the air flow meter (if it has one) or sounds more likely to be the lambda/oxygen sensor especially if it goes away when warm.

Does this fit on the lower half of the intake manifold? Have something that looks similar and is mounted and the lower half of the intake manifold.

Mine didn't make any noise's are far as i can remember.

I had my s14A for 3 years and it was a very reliable car, it was good on fuel and nicely balanced. I got it to just over 410bhp and then ended up selling it as it was getting a bit laggy at these sort of hp levels. At 350 bhpit was a quick road car and very responsive using a hks gtss turbo and hks cams. I've always fancied a RX7 and love the look of them but brain/bank balance has over ruled heart loads times due to their reliability. If your going to change the engine if it pops, then you have no worries and i would get one.

Have you checked the engine/gearbox mounts and te crank pulley dampener? These would cause similar types of behavoir if worn.

F..ing rats!!! I've got them as well, my neighbour said the council came round as they had spotted them in their back garden and put poison down but the guy had spotted a rat hole in the back of my garden as well! The following morning my dog managed to somehow squash one dead and bring it to the garden door and had dropped it outside. I for one am $ hite scared of the dirty disease ridden filthy things so had a right jump when i seen it! Luckily my Mrs is not botthered, so rang her to come home on her lunch hour to dispose of it. The thing was huge!!!....................nearly gave her my engine crane to lft the bloody thing!
