  1. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/703268.htm Just wanted to bring this up as not many replies, does anyone have any experience with these type of vehicles? Looks quite nice, its for jen so suits the girly image i suppose:D richie
  2. yep use one all the time when out hiking and used it loads in iraq and kenya its a Magellan 315 http://www.gpsnuts.com/myGPS/GPS/Hardware%20reviews/Magellan%20315/magellan_315_review.htm been more than happy with it and easy to use richie
  3. I suppose a lot depends on what you going to use it for, i am currently looking for a new van for my business, have looked at them all now and to be honest the Transit wins hands down, its a proven work horse. What i thought about all the Kev'd up ones is, as a customer with the tradesman pulling up in it, it may give off the wrong image, charging high prices to fund the sporty van, instead of just having a standard looking van, and then using funds to support hobbies, for the likes of me it would be my triathlon, and a good tri bike which the customer wont see. however if you buisness depends on smart vehicles such as valeting then i am all for it. richie
  4. Have seen you around Rushden a few times now, saw you parked up the Hayway on Sunday, But also see it parked down by stanick lakes, i start my run from just past where you park. Richie
  5. i do a lot of running mate, have done for a few years now, i enjoy running in the rain, there is something therapeutic about it (some will say sad i know) have you tried taking the route off road a bit? maybe the local woods or something, in the winter because of the dark i try to stay off the roads and do tracks instead. My 10km time is now down to 36mins which is when i am fresh starting, i do triathlons as a hobby so the 10km after the swim and run is up to 39mins, but like i said have been running for a few years now, but at 33 i am happy. Started last week doing every other morning doing 6 miles and its great for setting up for the day. If you need any advice just shout and i will do what i can, one thing i do take to keep my knees supple is Glucosamine Sulphate 1000mg from Holland & Barrett. there great big horse like tablets but i have not had a problem since i have been on them which is 9 months I am doing the London Marathon next year as well. Richie
  6. not heading to split by any chance to go to Brac island for a bit of R+R Richie
  7. Going to put this in the members section for now and depending on what happens then another thread will go up in the relevant section. Bit of advice and possibilities please from those in the know. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances it looks like Mrs Shadow Beast is going to have to get rid of the supra, trying to hang on to if she can, but when needs must and all that, it may have to go, sad it will be but hey life moves on. So question is this, she is going to be looking for a small prob 2 seater convertible, so what are the options? we used to have a Mk1 mx-5 Dakar which was great, so may look back along the lines of a slightly newer one, maybe a Mk2 or any other suggestions taken, What are MR-2's like? they do turbo'd ones as i have looked on piston heads, are they easy to maintain? what fuel consumption like? If any of you have any ideas of others then feel free to point us in the right direction, probably goint to be looking around the £4500 mark maybe a little more or less if the right one is around. Is there anyone on here selling anything like what we are looking for? Cheers Richie
  8. we went to the bank yesterday as our mortgage runs out of term in December, we have been on a tracker, 0.46% under the BoE base rate, that was very nice, however yesterday it caught up. In the end we waited to see what was going to happen tomorrow seems its happened today, can now go back in next week hopefully the cuts having been passed on to the end user. fingers crossed Richie
  9. just have a different outlook on life and its meaning, eye for an eye and all that, doubt if i am the only one on here who thinks like that. I don't know you personally and if i speak out of turn here then my apologies, I have seen first hand the effects a drink driver has when he gets behind the wheel of a car, to that end i will never sympathize with one, to me they are not worth the space they take up. If you feel that the sentence this footballer has been given is adequate then that's fine, not sure if you have children but if you have and it had been your loss and you were now typing on here in a wheel chair having lost your little ones, would you be happy with a sentence like he has received? bearing in mind you have just been handed a life of no children to bring up? Richie
  10. Nope, not at all, i just think that 7 years is not long enough for the crime he has committed, especially as he may be out after only serving 1/2 - 2/3 (cant remember which it is up to the 12 year point) when he has given that family a life sentence, to me it only seems fair that he should get one as well. I lost a good friend of mine a few years back to a drink driver, unfortunately i was serving away in Kosovo at the time so could not attend his funeral, however i did on my return see how it had affected many lives, including those of his wife's and 2 young children. not nice to see. The only good news in all of it was that the A*** Hole that killed my mate committed suicide before his hearing. That to me was justice. Harsh it may be, but they are my views. Richie Edit, this is a reply to Kopite's post.
  11. He does not need to pay for all of it, like your saying, second rate goalkeeper, prob not on the big bucks, just freeze the bank account and empty whats in there and use that towards the costs, seems fair enough to me. Richie
  12. My way of thinking is any modifications that have to be carried out at there home, or vehicle to accommodate injuries sustained from this idiot he should pay for them. If his insurance company pays out, then they will get that money back somehow, and i'll tell you how, the likes of you and I will pay for it when our premiums go up on our next renewal (don't even get me started on that subject), Richie
  13. no that doesn't bother me, every body is entitled to earn money and drive nice cars, but it appears to me having watched the news over the last few years that these footballers seem to think that they are something special, walking in or out of court looking smug for various cases. I just wish this judicial system we have in this country would for once make a proper job of sentencing someone, he should go to prison for life for both, they go hand in hand, the accident would not of been caused had he not of been drunk. Therefore the sentence should IMO of reflected this, causing the death of 2 children by hitting there car whilst asleep at the wheel,(oh and speeding) and causing death of 2 children whilst in charge of a vehicle whilst drunk. Richie
  14. Teach the pathetic excuse of a human being that no matter who he is or what he was, he drank, got in his 40K+ Range Rover and killed 2 little lads and has put the father in a wheel chair, for that reason alone he needs to reflect on what he has done, he has taken what i consider 3 lives, therefore he has no right to his own in WHAT 4 years? the family have been given a life sentence of sorrow, he should have the same, and that to me is under HMP. I agree what you say about money and compensation, but i know myself that should i ever end up in the situation that the parents have, rebuilding a life on the money that is from the one that took your little ones away it would sit right up there as justice. As well as knowing that when he comes out (because lets face it life is only 24 years) he will have nothing. richie
  15. i am going to go with a life for a life on this one, don't really follow football, so cant give to much info but i assume he was on a fair amount of a wage? so like others have said there was no need to be on the road, to that end because of his downright stupidity and ignorance towards others then as far as i am concerned he should spend the rest of his life in prison, his bank account should be frozen and any money in it should be used to compensate the family. richie

  18. sorry to hear this mate, i have 3 cats dreading the day they go. RIP richie
  19. cheers, worth considering, cant help on the materials though, put a thread on ages ago about what it was and only conclusions where its custom and prob a titanium back box, does that make a difference? richie
  20. hoping for some help, Mrs Shadowbeast's exhaust has rotted through where the back box meets the pipe work, so i am on the look out for a replacement, however here is the problem, we are not living together at the mo so cant post pics of the damaged one, however here are pics of it when it was ok. Question is this will a replacement one fit straight on? she like it quite loud so not really fussed on which as long as it will fit to the pipe work that is there. from the flange (are all exhaust fitted the same)? if you have any questions feel free to ask or if you can offer her something thanks. its an N/A on a k plate so 93/94 i suppose. cheers richie
  21. Here is ours with blackish wheels and chrome lip, i think that they look ok. richie edit: just looked at the pic and for some reason they dont look black ish, but they are in wheel life.
