  1. I would check the tyres for cracks etc. I wouldnt want to go too fast on them either incase there was a blow out. Make sure you check the tyre pressure if its not already been done.
  2. If it is a vandetta against the garage it is a shame they take it out on customers cars rather the the garage itself or the owner/operators. This has to be one of those nightmare situations most of us would hate to happen.
  3. I would want a backup plan if I were to attempt that journey. Is he an AA/RAC member? It really isnt that expensive to get something trailered now. I payed 150 to have a car transported 307 miles from durham.
  4. Spa could be a good idea if its not out of your price range. A sauna/steam room might help your chest too.
  5. It should be a treat for her to get a ride in the supra
  6. Setup a lavish dinner/picnic in the woods/spare room/garden/park and then say to her. Oh can you give me a hand with this (insert lame boring activity here) and lead her to the setup. Works well with candels, wine or champagne etc.
  7. Dont LSD's simply put power to the path of most resistance so either both wheels spin or neither vs an open which takes the path of least resistance?
  8. I tend to think of torque as the force the engine puts out per rpm so the faster it rotates the more work the torque can do and so the more total work or power. Some people say things like "my punto HGT has as much torque as a porcshe boxter..." but it only revs to about 4k while a porsche is going to be more like 7-8k so they arent really comparable. A porsche could have a much shorter gear ratio then the punto for the same speed so the engine is doing more rpm and making alot more power and would be much faster.

    I did a bad today

opps. The aircon really doesnt help does it? I often microwave curries/pizza at work and the subsequent afterburns in the server room do linger for hours. You really notice them when you go away to work else where and pop back in to the server room a couple of hours later only to be greeted by a stale air biscuit.
  10. I bought a 400 hz 136 db horn last week. Managed to fit it in place of the stock horn and get the bonnet shut with a bit of creative bracket bending. Only £14 too I did notice there are two oem horns. The top one had a black wire and connecter which I used on my new horn. The lower one has a loose wire hanging from it and I cant see where its ment to go.
  11. That is shocking. They owe you the car back completely repaired to at least the same standard it was when it went in. I think you are also owed something for the loss of use. Cant believe they think thats acceptable.
  12. its kg/m which is 10 times larger then a newton meter. If a supra only had 45 nm it would be a bit gutless 450 nm = 45 kg/m = 320 ft/lbs 300 nm = 30 kg/m = 217 ft/lbs
  13. I thought iridiums were ment to be superior to platinum and copper? If the stock platinum ones can last 60k on a standard engine surely iridium should last longer or at least the same. I can understand the life being shorter at higher boost though.
  14. can you not get a panel filter to go in the stock box? I cant help but think if a filter flows more air is must have less filtration though...

    Ensign???

I just hope it gets sorted out quickly for you. I have seen some claims resolved in only a couple of weeks while others drag on for months and months. It's bad enough having an accident but when you pay through the nose for insurance and they and take forever to sort it out its the last thing you want. Good luck.

    Ensign???

I never knew that. I guess it's best if you have legal cover incase the other insurer doesnt want to pay.

    Ensign???

A friend of mine who had an mx5 for a week before somone wrote it off for him had a rental car for months while it was sorted and thats with elephant. His insurance eventually claimed it back from the other drivers policy. I am with admiral and after checking the documents I get a courtesy car for 28 days if mine is written off, stolen or in for repairs after an accident.

    Infractions?

    Is he your evil twin?
  20. I love the seats, match up with the rest of the interior very well.
  21. wider tyres will only have a similar contact area as more narrow ones. The area is a different shape; wider but not as long. I think wider tyres will withstand more abuse and as they are wider are less likely to deform so should handle slightly better but not as much as you would expect. If somone is really bored try putting a pair of space savers on the rear wheels and trying them out. (in a safe area) they grip surprisingly well but dont last long at all.
  22. I always give the car a couple of heavy shoves when its on the stands before I go under it. Just to make sure its stable.
  23. the screen isnt normally do hard to swap out with a spare part, just need small fingers and small tools to do it. I have swapped 4-5 broken screens on laptops in the past. Maybe check ebay for some spares?
