  1. That's right I remember now. The groove causes the cutter to skip so would affect the backside cut if done at the same time. On a side note I remember you said at the Ring you ran the PF97's all the time. Do you not find the dust a bit troublesome? It baked onto the rims and left a rust surface down the side of the car if I used them in the wet (despite cleaning once a week). Not sure if the 'rust' is from the pad or the disc.
  2. I believe there is an argument to suggest that a set of discs that have gone through a heat cycle and warped, then skimmed are more robust to future abuse. My limited experience follows this trend. I replaced my discs because they had warped, only to warp the new ones within a week or so. I had these skimmed and they seem to have held up better. You can procut drilled/grooved dics but was told it takes longer.
  3. Search for 'Pro Cut'. I found a garage local to me that had the equipment and it worked OK. They leave the discs on the car and the machine spins the hub whilst cutting on both sides of the friction surface. This means that it will compensate for any hub irregularities. Cost me £20 per disc. The alternative is to use harsh track day pads on the road. This has also worked for me but these pads can be a bit harsh on your paintwork. BTW I thought a front set of UK's were only about £130ish from Steve?
  4. Was it a single turbo bike though...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cg-tSm0XZfI Ignoring the stupidity between the traffic, that's a very fast bike that he keeps pulling past at ridicuous leptons
  5. Ha - note to self, don't commute in Scotland! On the flip side, I'm not convinced you would be closing that door again.
  6. Exactly.... Most big thou's are bought for the pub talk and the paint scheme. Not many out there prepared to hold full throttle in the right gear for long. A 50-60 rolling start is 1st gear which would flip most born again bikers onto their rear! The bike v car thing is all about the variables: the course, the speed and the skill(inc will to survive beyond next year) of the rider/driver. Up to 120/140 most bikes have the potential edge. I commute on mine and I can definitely beat any car!
  7. I could be tempted by this as its only up the road from me. Noise is def a concern though especially in the cold. I've been thrown off in my previous car after only 1 warning for setting the mic off at the back of the pits.
  8. My advice would be not to overtake the locals at the bottom of the snowy mountain with old summer tyres. Its so embarrassing shouting at your pasengers to lean further forwards with all the luggage on the bonnet whilst the coaches merrily fly back past you. [OOPS][/OOPS]
  9. Difficult to comment without knowing the exact specification of FIE used. I'me not familiar with the Merc setup but have been involved with this field. He could do alot worse than giving Carwoods (Smethwick/Coventry) a call and asking for their advice/service. I used to deal with one of the partners their and have looked around their facilities. They have good experience with FIE and be in a better position than most dealers. They are capable of servicing and testing all the components. FIE from the dealer is expensive. The price for injectors and pump looks OK, although I do not Know why the pump has to be replaced. Dealers tend to just replace parts until the problem goes away as diagnostic time is difficult to charge for.

    Large brakes

Would be very interested in following your progress with the RR Brembo's. I often saw these coming up on ebay, but went for a complete set of Brembos from an Aston Martin DB9. Unfortunately I haven't got round to fitting them this year.....
  11. The power of the search button! If you could let me know and confirm that the shock was in good working order (+ no knocks/rattles) that would be great. How many miles has it covered btw? Thanks
  12. Bit of a long shot given the elapsed time, but is the rear shock still available? Looking to do some diagnositc work on a knock/rattle I have on one corner. Cheers Martin
  13. Hi could you PM me some more info about the Brembo brakes please? What spec/size are they and what condition are they in (miles/years etc). Were they bought as a kit? Thanks Martin
  14. That's the one. I was in commuter mode so in 6th gear. By the time I shifted down you had backed off. Shame as I would have been interested to see the difference.
  15. Not my car, but was it you I followed on the bike out of Olney towards MK after work on Thurs(? - or thereabouts). You slowed down as a car pulled to the right and briefly gunned it.
  16. After an original rear bumper for 95 Supra. Must be good/excellent condition without fog light cut into it and black would be preferable. UK or J spec. Thanks Martin
  17. 2 of those cars found the armco on Saturday...... I eventually got back at 4:30am (work is proving painful) this morn with my 'remote charging' system. Even side lights proved to be an excessive current draw for any serious progress (35 miles before systems began to shut down) which made for an interesting drive. Not prepared to publish how we actually did it, but I had some very 'close' friends..... Thanks to everyone that helped me out and good to meet you all. Have a safe trip back tomorrow. Martin
  18. I have a spare Lexus set, but the condition isn't brilliant. I bought a set of TTE ones as above.
  19. I left Ealing at about 11am on my way to Oxford.....
  20. RE the free Carriage - Wasn't that the way it used to be?
  21. OK thats fine. No real rush, just want to get rid of the dreaded fog light at some point. Cheers.
  22. Dan, is the rear bumper still for sale? You said you would look into postage and give me an idea of price by PM a while back. Thanks Martin
  23. I'm looking at fitting my aquamist (original pump type) kit soon and interested to know how people fit everything together. Looking at drawing from the std washer bottle; engine bay is relatively std, but have a Greddy FMIC and Apexi induction kit. The concern I have is that the pump doesn't like to suck and the only place I can see to place the pump is between the battery and the wing which is a little high relative to the water supply and limits where the water jet can be placed as this must be higher than the pump also. I have considered utilising the rear wash pump outlet as a means of priming or sustaining the feed. Suggestions gratefully received!
  24. I've been up to the NW200 on the bike. The year the Honda cracked 200mph. It is indeed an intense race to watch with enormous commitment from all the riders considering the environment. Shame a mechanical failure let Robert down.
  25. Use a bar to lever the joint back together. This will provide enough purchase to remove the nut without the ball joint rotating. Think that's the problem you are describing anyway.....
