Hi guys

Looking for someone who is able to remove the windows from my car as it's going into paint. Front window, rear quarters and rear window. Car is Bristol based.

Thanks all.

Where are you as there’s a place down here that removed all my glass called JP windscreens. I’m near Eastbourne in East Sussex.

Autoglass will remove and refit glass but they won't insure any glass that is discontinued. So rear screen is at your own risk.

Spoken to autoglass, waiting on a call back. Apparently she wasn't sure it was a service they offered!

I'm around Bristol so a bit to far to transport the car. Thanks though 🙂

The body shop I used to sort the usual tailgate screen lip rust on my car arranged the glass removal and refitting with Autoglass but told me the discontinued glass (even though when the work was done it wasn't actually discontinued, you could still buy the glass from Toyota or US various retailers) would only be removed and refitted at my own risk. So if it shattered, I was on my own. That was getting on for ten years ago now and the glass is now officially discontinued so it might just be a service Autoglass no longer offer or they might need a body shop to do the booking, but I doubt that would be the case in either instance.

When they did my glass out and back in their charges were very reasonable, £40 all in for the two visits. But, that was a decade ago.

Is there not someone who can manufacture one? Or is it 2nd hand only?

There are curved screen repro companies out there. Wheeler Dealers went and had a Marcos rear screen made but with WD you never actually see the company name. They needed an original to scan so there would be a couple of hurdles to overcome.

First up identifying the company, I did try to do that but couldn't.

Second up having a screen available to scan. Its not the sort of thing people tend to have one sitting around waiting to be scanned.

Third up would be the heater elements that are part of the glass in the Supra, would a repro company be able to embed the filaments? The TV Marcos screen was just plain glass so you wouldn't know unless you talked to the company making the screens.

Lastly, could any repro company duplicate the green or blue tint?

Try Pilkington, they supply glass for lots of classics

I did contact them when I was looking a couple of year back, they said no.

They tend to go with glass they made for the OEM so presumably have the patterns and presses available. I don't think Pilkington ever supplied Toyota in Japan.
