Glanza_Mike
Hey guys, Might be a super simple question but how do i remove the plastic/rubbery thing that goes above and around the windows? I want to clean behind there And can't see an obvious way. I can see a couple metal clips behind/underneath it but thought i'd ask how to, before i start having a go myself. I've highlighted the area i mean in the pic below, thanks
listy
I've never removed them, but I tend to get a compressed air can/compressor with a fine nozzle in there and blow all the dirt out.
safcdixon
Pull the rubber door seal off and theres about 12 screws under the seal to remove the trim
Glanza_Mike
Thanks for the advice guys, got the i side trim off got all the scres out but it's no looser it looks like there's two metal fittings that are like crimped onto the fixing to hold it on. Any ideas?
safcdixon
Theres a small metal bracket that runs parallel to the rear window with 3screws in that has to come off aswell but unsure about the two fixing you mention, you got a pic like? Frank Bullitt
IIRC once the screws are out there is some sort of weather proof double sided foam type gasket between the plate and the body of car. If you have something like an old credit card you should be able to pass it between the two to separate them.
Chris Wilson
They are the sort of trim bits best left alone IMHO.
Dnk
Don't yank them off when there really cold as they have the potential to snap in half
markssupra
They are screwed on and you will need to remove other trim to get them off, leave well alone imo. I only removed them for my respray!
Glanza_Mike
Thanks for the advice guys, if i'm best to leave them alone do you have any tips for cleaning behind them? It's getting a little green in areas behind there and it's frustrating me lol I tried a toothbrush with polish on but it couldn't reach lol
Scooter
cotton ear buds?
Ric
Surely a detailing brush and lots of APC will sort that out the bristles will get in there. Taking them off and putting them back on can open you to all sorts of issues with water getting in.
Max5437
I used a strong dilution APC and a few brushes and eventually got it spotless, used cotton buds and soap on my last car, worked but took a ridiculous amount of time
