Why is the British navy running a ferry service for illegal immigrants?

I dont agree with the Navy ferrying them about.

I dont agree with bringing them to the UK.

I also don't agree with leaving them there to die.

Rock and a hard place. Why does it have to be the UK though every time. Why can't we take them to Greece? The country still has no money but everyone does not want to kill each other and they will be safe!

I blame too much sun, it makes people not think rationally :D

The other part of you is right, listen to it ;) Bring back the bloody Empire, rule and subjugate the buggers ;)

This is where your argument falls down :)

The Empire was built upon humanitarian actions like this. Most people only know the negatives though. Nothing new there I guess.

Have a read of Paxman's Empire. It's an eye-opener in this sense.

Or put another way: it's what separates us from the French :D

We have a morale obligation to help others who need it. Think of it this way, you have two options of a headline:

"Britain leaves immigrants to die in EU waters" or "Britain saves immigrants and escorts them to safety"

I agree that it's stupid, but having paid £0.01 for the cost in saving these immigrants through my annual tax... it's money well spent in my opinion.

We are a 'world leader' and have bigger responsibilities and concerns than other countries regardless of economy or political standing.

The smart way would be to introduce stricter immigration laws like the US and Aus and being very vocal about them, human traffickers sell the UK as an instant money pot; free house, healthcare and so on which isn't the case - Only EU citizens can have access to our publicly funded institutions such as the NHS and welfare but JimBob from Somalia won't hear that.

It's a difficult situation that's not going to be improved anytime soon. Either way it'll piss off different people.

By the time they reach our shores they will have the required paperwork that says their European and entitled, we are powerless to prove otherwise :D

I'm just hoping the amount of bureaucracy we have in place will put them off bothering (Council claim for a pothole is difficult enough... Let alone applying for benefits as a non-UK person), they're certainly not coming here for the weather :D

Pretty much anyone 'fleeing' to the UK is not running in terror, they are economic migrants. If you are genuinely seeking asylum then you seek safety in the first safe country you come to, not travel across Europe.

100% agreed with this.

Sadly the U.K and it,s allies have caused a lot of the problems in the countries these people are leaving and now everyone is wringing their hands about humanitarianism and what to do with them. The only answer is to make the U.K an unattractive destination,or of course TRIDENT.

Exactly, I've heard Nigerians being interviewed that came off these boats, not fleeing from anything and have left their wife and kids behind for now (?). It's not about the cost of 'saving' them, it's about supplying housing/schooling/NHS care for them and their families, all of which are overstretched already.

That's the multi millionaire scouser singer / songwriter who was shot when living in abject luxury

outside the UK in a low tax environ, right? Jeez... Kids today. And his name was LENNON, by the

way, just for the record. Another plastic leftie.

I am not a millionaire but..

I have seen war up close and personal

I have been homeless

I have also seen and met people so desperate that they would rather get on a boat and have a chance at freedom rather than comit suicide.

You can't blame them either for wanting a shot in a better county that in reality is a pushover. Our governments of past have created this problem and our current government does nothing to stop it.

I agree with you though, this is a world problem and as usual it's the UK picking up the bill.

Tower Hamlets? home of Lutfur Rahman, enough said.

You are from Essex, enough said :D

He was set up ....LOL :D

Considering all the allegations against were carried out by other people who knows, all we know is the police cleared him the first and then the courts overruled.

Not like we have never have had a corrupt politician or one who lies :D

Was watching some BBC news the other day and in its usual fashion of taking up the plight of the people, it put the question to some lorry drivers in the form of "wouldn't you try to do the same to escape persecution and protect your family?".... and this seems to be the 'rallying cause' for everyone to view the immigrants as a 'victim' in their efforts to reach England.

BUT.... and its a huge BUT.... once they have reached Italy, they are no longer being persecuted, they are safe and so are their travelling families. When they then find a reason to travel in to Austria, again they are not being persecuted, nor are they when they go through Germany and France. So why so many persecuted immigrants are at Sangatte in Calais?

The BBC and other media need to look at the issue that many of the immigrants are viewing the UK as a free ticket. And not try to place the image that they are in constant danger. Its accepted that what is going on in their home lands with the medieval tribe rule that still exists out there is not a good thing in anyone's book, but still this should not be the responsibility of the British taxpayer and the scarce availability of land and resources of the UK, surely.

One wave will encourage another. As one family settles it will draw the next generation and so on.

Nations need borders otherwise the UK is not the UK, France is not France etc. etc.

I agree they are not fleeing anything or they would just get to the next safe place. Its because the UK give them a free ride.

The biggest joke is these people can arrive having not contributed a single thing to the country, get given a house, benefits etc etc. Yet a few years back my Ex's Dad was seriously ill and could not work and he was told his benefits etc would run out within 3 months as thats all his stamp allowed him having contributed to this country for over 30 years.

What are the rules/laws at the moment when an immigrant arrives and gets pregnant?

Although from most of the video footage seen on TV it looks like they are leaving the women, children and old folks back home as its mostly younger males, surely they should be staying to fight for their country while sending the former to safety :search:

I had to laugh when I spotted this on a random Facebook post someone shared today.....

Is this the best the BNP can do....... Show a photo of an Italian warship taking people to Italy lol

If you're going to bang on about Britishness etc, at least get a photo of a British warship!

For the record, I don't support or have anything to do with the above post or party.

Typical of the BNP, half of them can barely even speak English :D

Born & raised in mile end, when it was the proper East End, now in Essex, which now the East End;)

Ah! Ello to a fellow East Londoner ;)

We lived in Mile End around 1990, Dad was offered to buy the 3 bedroom flat we was staying in for £35k & he refused it saying it was too expensive. That recently sold for £350k
