Well had the car up on a ramp with a bodywork specialist who went over it and there is a bit of a list of things to be done, but not as bad as expected :D

Roof - remove sunroof

Bumpers - remove current bumpers

Front fenders - need some repairs

Sills - both sides need a fair bit of work

Doors - both sides need a fair bit of work - going to repair the standard ones, want to try and keep them

Drivers floorpan - needs a section removed and replaced

Looking to get the car in sometime in December and will be stripped, blasted, repaired, resprayed (some bright blue colour), new bumpers, fender mirrors, arch extenders, wheels and rear half cage (welded in).

Still deciding on the seats and clocks, but thinking along the lines of classic racing seats, modern clocks in standard dash, retro radio with hidden speakers, refurbed gearknob and steering wheel and not sure what else........

Engine wise, it will remain standard for now, but I am seriously considering some triple webbers :D

Will look like the 240z from 'Midnight Wangan' when done

Devil Z?

The latest......240z goes into bodyshop this week and the whole project will begin :)

What is everyones thoughts on rollcages in these cars? Im considering a 4 point cage for impact resistance, harness bar and some added rigidity.

Loved that video :) also love the fact that the Porsche and the Z do more talking than the main actors :D

I really like the way this car looks, the only thing that I will be changing is the base colour...............

Looks lovely!

Small update

The car is now at the bodyshop, I am at Silverstone this weekend in the GTR, so wont be able to make it down, but will be down next weekend. Will take some photos then

Have ordered some new bumpers, arch flares and fender mirrors.... so far, only the mirrors have arrived however I only ordered the bumpers and flares late last week :)

Speaking to customCages and SafetyDevices about cages for the car.

Sorry for the late arrival (and possibly unwanted suggestion) but I remember reading an article on Speedhunters about a 240Z specialist in Kent, Fourways Engineering. It certainly seemed like the gentleman in charge there knew the model inside, outside and backwards - not to mention the impressive parts collection.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have just been informed that work has started on the 240z

I have decided against the rollcage for now and the main reason for this was that the missus drove the GTR around Silverstone GP circuit on a recent track day and now wants a track car (more on this later)..... so the 240z is purely for pleasure and fun!!!!

I have ordered some fender mirrors, bumpers and arch flares and now looking at wheels... Rota RKR is the style I want, but completely lost on the sizes and offsets (especially with the flares).
