Good point, don't think Toyota UK have... they seem to use JDM cars for advertising!

They have (had?) a very late UK spec in white they use for promo work, which has a Veilside kit and Castrol graphics.

I believe it belonged to Redline magazine at somepoint.

Wheels and exhaust are acceptable mods I believe even to purists. So long as they are sensible (ie. no 'twin exit' exhaust systems, no cheesy chrome wheels etc.) then why not?

Fair enough, the OP wanted to hear about totally stock cars, but how many people on here are really bothered about a Supra having aftermarket wheels and exhaust?

Whenever you read about Supras in 'mainstream' motoring journalism (EVO for example), the one thing thats always mentioned is the huge tuning potential. As with any iconic car its always nice to have original examples, but sensible, tasteful mods never do any harm IMHO.

Forgetting all that, I wonder how many ultra-rich collectors (Jay Leno springs to mind) have mint original Supras in a bubble somewhere? Toyota presumably keep afew somewhere too.

I'd guess that very few standard examples remain at all. Clean, lowmileage stock cars fetch good money in Japan now (there was a White 2001 VVTI for sale in Japan recently with under 10k kms on the clock (iirc) that was for sale for circa £25k before import charges.

Thats been knocking around for ages. Dont think its owned by Toyota though. I think they use it because it resembles the car from Gran Tourismo.. even though that is not a proper JGTC car.

Apparently it was owned by them.

This article hints at it being owned by Toyota GB: http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/toyota-supra

Not sure wether it is now though.

Not to me they're not and it's my thread! :)

I mentioned in the original post I could at a push accept a non stock exhaust, as it is the type of part that would wear out after 17 years and need replacing. Wheels don't wear out, non stock wheels are not welcome here :)

The only thing not 100% stock now is the headunit because it was a jap unit, so i couldnt get the radio. This was changed after these pictures.

Very nice Danny

Looks like it's had facelift wheel caps, UK headlights and clear side markers added, but all original Toyota parts.

There plastic headlights. The wheels and brakes are UK spec because the previous owner said he couldnt get the ABS to kick in with the smaller jap spec brakes, so he changed them for bigger UK spec ones. The wheels had to be changed over aswell because the jap ones wouldnt fit over the bigger brakes, so he had to fit UK spec wheels as well. But i still class them as stock because thay are a original Toyota part.

Sorry headlights looked too clean and shiny to be J-spec

The 17" wheels are probably off a facelift J-spec, as they have the recessed centre caps with the 5 holes (these were never fitted on the UK Supra). I only noticed the wheels because it had the pre-facelift front indicators fitted.

The larger brakes were also fitted as standard to many J-spec Supras (many more than were fitted to UK Supras).

And the state it's in today. Alas, I have been tempted by a few modernisations like indicators and a new sidemount IC, but not too many. :)
