I don't think hypnosis is the way forward for you then.
What other methods have you tried? Do you know what your triggers are for craving a cigarette?
Stress is just an excuse and an easy one to use at that. Everyone has stress in their lives and there will never be a moment in yours where it's stress free, so it seems that you're using that to delay giving up.
Here's what worked for me. It probably won't work for you, but some bits of it might.
Set a date to stop. Set it perhaps a couple of weeks away, so it's something you can build up to. Don't put it off, just chose a date that's convenient for you and pereferably not a work day.
On the day you give up, throw everything related to your smoking away. Fags, lighters, matches, ashtrays, the lot. I didn't smoke in my house, I used to stand on the kitchen step and put my dogends in a sand butt. I kept the fag butt, as a reminder of how filthy smoking is. If I was at home and felt then need for a ciggie I went and smelt the manky old fag butt. It was enough to kill the craving there and then, I can assure you
Enjoy your last cigarette. Revel in it, every last moment. If you have any fags left throw them out. Don't cheat, you'll only be cheating yourself.
Take it one day at a time. Set targets and rewards. Change your routine. Eliminate the triggers for your craving and do something else instead. Alcohol was a biggie for me. I could do a pack of 20 in a couple of hours in the pub, so I stopped going to the pub for 3 months. It was tough, but worth it in the long run.
After a while you can set up bigger targets and better rewards. You might save some money but I found that I spent it on other things instead. Aim for something you might really want.
I was a 40 a day man for 20 odd years. So on days off I wasted maybe 5 mins per ciggie sat at the back door. Thats over 3 hrs a day. Wasted lost time.
On the down side I put on 2 stone, and I didn't immediately notice any gains in healt benefits. However, I hadn't seen my brother since I gave up (he lives in Oz) until last Xmas. He is just like I was, 40 a day. Now I've noticed a difference. Big style.
Like I said, it might not work for you. But you don't necessarily need gimmicks to stop either.
Good luck.
