  1. I don't think hypnosis is the way forward for you then. What other methods have you tried? Do you know what your triggers are for craving a cigarette? Stress is just an excuse and an easy one to use at that. Everyone has stress in their lives and there will never be a moment in yours where it's stress free, so it seems that you're using that to delay giving up. Here's what worked for me. It probably won't work for you, but some bits of it might. Set a date to stop. Set it perhaps a couple of weeks away, so it's something you can build up to. Don't put it off, just chose a date that's convenient for you and pereferably not a work day. On the day you give up, throw everything related to your smoking away. Fags, lighters, matches, ashtrays, the lot. I didn't smoke in my house, I used to stand on the kitchen step and put my dogends in a sand butt. I kept the fag butt, as a reminder of how filthy smoking is. If I was at home and felt then need for a ciggie I went and smelt the manky old fag butt. It was enough to kill the craving there and then, I can assure you Enjoy your last cigarette. Revel in it, every last moment. If you have any fags left throw them out. Don't cheat, you'll only be cheating yourself. Take it one day at a time. Set targets and rewards. Change your routine. Eliminate the triggers for your craving and do something else instead. Alcohol was a biggie for me. I could do a pack of 20 in a couple of hours in the pub, so I stopped going to the pub for 3 months. It was tough, but worth it in the long run. After a while you can set up bigger targets and better rewards. You might save some money but I found that I spent it on other things instead. Aim for something you might really want. I was a 40 a day man for 20 odd years. So on days off I wasted maybe 5 mins per ciggie sat at the back door. Thats over 3 hrs a day. Wasted lost time. On the down side I put on 2 stone, and I didn't immediately notice any gains in healt benefits. However, I hadn't seen my brother since I gave up (he lives in Oz) until last Xmas. He is just like I was, 40 a day. Now I've noticed a difference. Big style. Like I said, it might not work for you. But you don't necessarily need gimmicks to stop either. Good luck.
  2. I tried hypnosis, and I'm afraid it didn't work for me either. Will power and patches worked for me. 5 years and counting.....

  4. Sorry to hear about this, you have my sympathies. First of all, you'll need to speak to the Coroners' Officer to find out when they can release the body. He/She will be able to advise you and recommend a suitable funeral director to help you arrange things as you won't be able to anything until a Certificate of Death is issued.
  5. Does it have any proven benefits or did you buy it purely for aesthetics?
  6. More like you should contact the mods before arranging a GB as per the T&C's of the club There was, it failed through lack of interest though it may succeed now, what with the change in the club demographic!
  7. The Police won't be able to assist, as it is a civil matter.
  8. Oh that's ok then I thought you were implying the Police killed that chap. I wasn't there so I can't possibly comment on events of yesterday. But I was working the City disturbances of 98 & 99 and a number of the May Day dust ups as well. I will say this though, I am all for lawful peacful protest. It's a constitutional right under the European Covention for Human Rights and I applaud people who feel passionate enough about an issue to get up off there lazy arses and actually do somthing about it rather than make obtuse comments on something that they've heard or seen via the media. However, when peaceful protest turns ugly, often initiated by a minority hell bent on causing damage to property and injury to Police Officers, whose intention I might add, is there to facilitate a peaceful and lawful protest, then IMO, those demonstrators who have their own agenda to cause damage and injury ruin it for everyone else. Not the Police. I feel for those lawful demonstrators who get caught up in the middle of it, but having been in large scale disorder, and your back is up against the wall and you think that you're either going to get very badly hurt or worse, then you will at the end of the day do what you have to do. The actions of a few hundred hardcore Anarchists and their ilk ruined yesterdays demo. Their intention was, from the start to smash up property and attack people who even resembled a banker. The vast majority of those protestors weren't out for trouble, that was shown in the footage and was evident. They probably never have any contact with the Police ever in their lives, but protesting doesn't mean doing what you like. As shown throughout all of this crisis, it is the actions of the few that have long lasting and damaging effects for the many.
  9. What are you saying Mike?
  10. I've been working night shifts now for 18 years When I worked 8hr shifts I used to do 7 shifts followed by a quick change over (finish at 0630 and return to work at 1430 and finish at 2230) followed by 2 days off. I did that once every 6 weeks. Now I work 12 hrs and never do more that 3 shifts of nights. I much prefer 12 hr nights but I do struggle with the 70 odd mile drive home at the end. Nights rock though, I always get my best sleep during the day, and there's no bosses about at work.
  11. Great set of core values you're setting there.
  12. That's a fair point as the car will show up on HPi as having outstanding finance. You will have to disclose to your buyer the outstanding amount and you will have to pay it off prior to the sale of the car. As there is finance outstanding the car isn't technically yours to sell until it's paid off.
  13. Not a lot of room for any errors there.

    smoking

You can get patches on the NHS if you enrol with your GP's stop smoking surgery. Initially they'll give you a weeks worth for the cost of a precsription and if you last all week then they'll give you 28 days worth for a single prescription. I used my GP and I gave up sucessfully 5 years ago this month.
  15. I was going to say that's Enstone. I only live round the corner. I did a film shoot there a couple of years back on the runway with a TVR Cerb. Apparently it's being opened up later this year for track days.
  16. Happy Birthday dear boy.
  17. We're looking at Britanny this year with Owners Direct There seem to be some good value gites available and if you book the Eurotunnel now and are flexible with your travel times you can get some pretty good deals. I know it's a 6 hour leisurely drive from Calais but worth it IMO.
  18. Had an interface with a wall in Blackpool.
  19. I though Martin was the "merge mod".
  20. You would, however in this case the OP's friend changed address so he was actually informing the DVLA of a change of address. If the points were spent then they would be removed as a matter of course.
  21. Then you are no better than him .Two wrongs do not make a right.
