1. That's got me thinking! Can't remember, but I know I've bought another 600 or so since. I CAN remember the first vinyl single and album though :-)
2. You can't negotiate with a cat. They just don't have the same social skills as dogs. And they have more weapons
3. Two quid each on eBay if all else fails (8018653032)
4. Would the factory alarm be easier to circumvent, because they are all wired in the same way? If you've done one ....
5. I've had Lexus GS 16s and Supra wheels on my Soarer and they are exactly the same -- same PCD (5x114.3), same centre bore (60.1), same wheel nuts, and same offset (ET50), and since the Aristo is the J-spec GS.... P.S. Did you need spacers to make the Supra 16s clear the standard Aristo calipers?
6. Here's a tyre size calculator http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi Some of the tyre company sites have details of the tyre sizes which can be fitted to the various rim widths (Cooper Tires for one)
7. Jurgen, the last page is about his latest racing exploits with the RX7 (from about post #493). Just thought it might be of interest http://www.toyotaimportsforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3750&page=13
8. Not important if you're not interested in the Japanese option, but http://www.f1kits.com/Keyword%20Search.htm has a lot of Japanese language keywords for Yahoo.
9. If it's Soarer related and you can't get an answer on TIF, LSOC, or Soarer Central, then there probably isn't a solution Just don't be fazed by the regular outbreaks of TT vs V8 banter, it's the Soarer equivalent of the UK vs J-spec Supra "discussions"
10. Found these, amongst others, on Japanese Yahoo (3 gauges though) http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k23975862 http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c102833240 http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f33697735 Using this search for Gauges and Toyota http://list1.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/2084017003-category-leaf.html?apg=1&f=&s1=cbids&o1=a&alocale=0jp&mode=1 Which came from http://www.f1kits.com (Jeff Harper has obtained a lot of stuff from Japan for Soarer owners in the UK and Australia) Right click > copy shortcut, and translate with http://www.google.com/language_tools I gave up after 18 pages, so there may be a 2-gauge pod later in the lists .
11. Jurgen, you may find this thread on TIF interesting (although it's a continuing saga, so it does go on a bit! -- 480-odd posts) http://www.toyotaimportsforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3750 Sunline RX7 raced in Japan. Before and after

Poor kid

If nothing else, the posts in this thread show what a minefield the whole "paedophilia" thing is. In some parts of the US the age of consent is 18. Does that mean that someone who has sex with a 16 year old in the UK is a paedophile? In Denmark it's 15. If a Dane is sleeping with a 15 year old, does he become a paedophile as soon as he steps across the border into Norway where it's 16? Does our attitude depend on the relative ages of the people involved? In some US states the age of consent varies according to the age of the older of the sexual partners. In the UK, the rules are now different for someone in a position of authority. Does that mean that it's OK for a teacher to have sex with a 16 year old from a different school, but it's a crime with an 18 year old from the teacher's school? Difficult, isn't it? Unlike, for example, theft, it's not a crime where there can be an absolute definition. it depends on a whole load of other stuff, like culture and custom. EDIT: P.S. I thought "statutory rape" was a term in the US legal system. Don't think it exists in the UK.
13. A craftsman! It was a rubber mallet and not a lump hammer.....
14. More of a problem are the drivers who switch on their rear fogs, at night, in the slightest mist, even around town, when you can see standard rear lights a mile away. Just creates loads of glare. The best one I saw (actually the worst, I suppose), was the guy who switched on the fogs on a perfectly clear motorway because a matrix sign said "Fog". For ****'s sake, if you can see the car in front of you, the car behind can see you!
15. Did you see the following documentary about the land speed record attempts at Bonneville in the 60s? They reckoned that when Art Arfons crashed the "Green Monster" at 600+ (and survived), they found a piece of it over 4 miles away. There was an excellent shot of Craig Breedlove's "Spirit of America" nose down in a pond, looking like something ot of an old sci fi film Lots of shots of cool old hot rods as well. .
16. I can't believe you wrote that.
17. Don't think it's a new law. IIRC the limit was always 40, but rarely enforced. When I were no'but a lad, small van drivers.... sorry, drivers of small vans, not small drivers of vans .... used to get booked for doing more than 40. Anyway, whatever speed they are doing, the combination of trucks, needless 50 limits / the national 60 limit, and speed (sorry, "safety") cameras, totally stuffs up any off-motorway journey because it's impossible to overtake the sodding things without risking a ticket. :thumbdown And as for motorways and dual carriageways.... don't get me started! I'd just ban 'em from any lane but lane 1, then they couldn't just swerve out regardless of what's overtaking, or sit alongside another HGV for miles. Apologies to any considerate HGV/PSV drivers out there, but your less considerate fellow "knights of the road" (yeah, right!) have tried to kill me too many times since I first took to the roads (about a million years ago).
18. 18,995. The same pic is on the DJ Craig web site. http://www.djcraig.co.uk/GetDealer.do?did=20701&pageid=1

Pikey Or Posh

Oh no, I have to move! They say I should read the Daily Express and Daily Telegraph...... and play golf.

200 mph...

Google tells me that the Carlton and Esprit have about the same drag coefficient (if I can believe what I read on the web), although the Esprit presumably has a lower frontal area.
21. garethr

200 mph...

True.... but would it be worse than the Esprit?
22. garethr

200 mph...

If they HAD to use a British car, wouldn't they have been better off with a different Lotus? There are several Carltons on Autotrader for less money than that Esprit.
23. TUV-approved spacers are available. I assume you could trust them.
24. To illustrate CW's post.... http://planetsoarer.com/offset/studs.htm http://planetsoarer.com/offset/offset.htm
25. LS430s do have 4-pot front calipers....... That's the extent of my contribution to this thread, I'm afraid.
