  1. OK, so, just for future reference, it would be safe to remove the vacuum from the MAP sensor if the car is converted away from the sequential system then. ie. single, big twins, true twin etc. (Assuming it doesn't have any affect the autobox)
  2. Does your MIL light work? (the orange engine light on the right side of the dash-top panel, next to the two oil lights).
  3. IMHO, LOTR is a fantastic film. Maybe it's because I read the book while I was at school that I can understand it more, but I love the films. Philistine!
  4. The only downside to that, is be prepared to push it back home if it doesn't start! What happened when you checked for faults? - Did the MIL light just keep flashing?
  5. I don't know enough about turbo specifics, but I know enough to say that IMHO, that quote looks like misleading sales speak. 'spooling' just under 4k, is fair enough, but don't read it as 'full boost' just under 4k.
  6. The pistons give up long before the exhaust does! Looks Good Mas. First time I've seen the blue ones
  7. Boost cut is done through the MAP sensor on both UK and VVTi. You wire in the MAF sensor to control the fuelling and either get an FCD, or if you have the E01, you can get the optional harness, and that will do it. Depending on how big the injectors are/how much voltage reduction you send to the ECU, it may never see fuel cut voltage anyway...
  8. Oooo, that wasn't your first reply! - And yes, I've driven many M3's. No blinkers here!
  9. Not only is it likely to be low brake fluid, but the chances are, your brake pads are very low and probably need changing soon. As the thickness of the pads wears down, the fluid level drops, so it's worth checking the pads before you top up the fluid. Otherwise you'll end up having to remove some fluid when the pads need changing in a few weeks.
  10. What you mean, is that you know you'll get left behind on the motorway now
  11. IIRC the brown is the main beam, and the black is high beam. Easy enough to check though. Just plug 'em in, and turn 'em on
  12. As Ian said, you map via the MAF sensor wire. You'll still need to cap the MAP wire if you want to remove fuel cut though. (Or possibly unplug and block the vacuum hose going to the MAP sensor. I'm fairly sure, all the MAP sensor does on a UK car, is control overboost fuel cut. It 'may' have another function, but I don't think so.)
  13. No idea what current the cable itself can take, but it should be safe enough to connect a speed converter to it.
  14. They do look good. And the price is excellent. Having done a few sets myself, I know how much work goes into them and how much hassle it can be. I wuoldn't do them that cheap, so well done Jon
  15. They are just normal keys. Any key cutter should be able to do them.
  16. There are no immobilisers built into any Supra key, that's for certain. The only 'special' type may be some of the JDM cars had remote locking built onto the key. Not sure if they're available though.
  17. The ECU does have 5v outputs and one the MAP sensor does use 5v. I would try to find out what current this device is likely to draw, as I doubt the 5v output from the ECU will ba able to sink very much. It may be better to use absxxx suggestion. At least that way you won't damage the ECU. Or just get a decent FCD.
  18. Autoleads. T-003 Unistripper. http://www.autoleads.co.uk/downloads/06InsFitAcc.pdf Page 72. Price is around £15 ish
  19. It should be a USB to Serial lead.
  20. Yeah, CJ's a good guy. Don't let the fact that he's Welsh bother you, it's not his fault, he was born that way
  21. Yes, some cheapo type converters just divide the entire speed signal by 5/8ths to get a MPH reading. In effect, that will give you a limiter at around 180mph. The better ones, like the Thor ones, actually cap the speed signal at around 100mph, so, although the car can increase in speed, the ECU never 'sees' any more than 100mph, thus totally removing the limiter. I've seen way more than 170mph via GPS. Speedo needle pointing just to the left of straight down.
