I think there was a build thread on here for making that bodykit.

Are you suggesting reversing the polarity of the motor's power wires? If so that's an unusual and potentially dangerous thing to do. You'd have to be really careful that the switch could never feed 12v down the "earth" wire whilst it is still connected to the car's actual earth. It might work but I wouldn't recommend it.
-
Controlling the height would be fiddly IMO with the stock aerial. A short pulse (rising voltage to +12v?) down the wire tells the aerial to go up as far as it can. A different pulse (falling voltage to 0v?) tells it to retract as far as it can. The aerial keeps moving even after the pulse has finished. The only way you'd get the stock aerial to stop halfway up is to cut the power to the aerial motor when the aerial is at the desired length.

Might be better, and this one confirms the wire is blue: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?230870-Aerial

This link is as good as I could find: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?1094-Auto-Manual-electric-aerial

I've fitted a switch to my car so I can lower the aerial at will. I did this a long time ago so I can't remember details, but I do remember that the switch doesn't need to be 3-way. The aerial is raised/lowered by a short-ish pulse sent down a wire. I fitted an in-line switch to this wire. To have the aerial behave normally (i.e. controlled by whether the head unit is on of off), the switch is closed. To keep the aerial retracted, the switch is opened. I will post up a link if I can find it.

Seems normal for me too, even down to the usual "I'm so upset" vaguebookers.

Interesting point Abz. However, unless whiplash always results in torn cartilage then there will be many cases of genuine whiplash that aren't diagnosable in this way. It sounds like you had a particularly nasty case of it for it to tear cartilage.

Edit: ahh, I think I see now! You mean the IP addresses of devices connected to the router.
-
Do you mean IP address, or do you mean MAC addresses? Unless you've got a super-duper setup, your router will only have one external IP address, and one internal one.

They should have a "Countdown Late" on TV after the watershed, with a laptop surfing UrbanDictionary in Dictionary Corner.

The FT had an interesting article about car insurance and telematics recently. One or two companies (Aviva?) tried it a few years ago but the cost of the boxes was almost as much as the premiums, so wasn't deemed worth it. Maybe the ever-higher premiums coupled with a possible reduction in the cost of the boxes would make this viable again. I'm not sure if forcing all whiplash claims to go to court would have the desired effect. Hopefully it would put insurers off pursueing such cases where they have their doubts, but it might just bump up premiums even more because the insurers would need to not only cover themselves against compensation awarded, but also for the court costs. I'm not sure what the courts could add to the process, apart from lengthen it and make it even more costly. The thing is with whiplash is that there's no decent medical test for it, so evidence of a whiplash injury would be sparse. OK, the person might have been in an RTC but it's more to do with how their head moved when the collision happened, which decides whether they actually have whiplash or not. No-one else knows how their head moved apart from themselves.

£6k for an NA sounds high. Yours might be worth £3k? The blue one would be worth perhaps £5k, although the low mileage counts in its favour if genuine.

I haven't seen the TV programme but would like to based on the comments here, so I can make up my own mind. My thoughts on police in general are positive. I'm not saying anything here that others haven't already said, but I feel quite strongly about lippy chavs committing low-level crimes and generally being anti-social, often due to drinking too much. Too many people think they can talk to the police like they're dirt. They give back-chat if the police make reasonable requests, get a bit physical (pushing, maybe a half-hearted kick that probably misses anyway), and dance on the line between legal and illegal. They know the police have a hard time proving these types of crimes, and are often too expensive ("deemed not to be in the public interest", I believe the phrase is) to pursue anyway for the piddling punishments they'll most likely get (maybe rightly: I'm not suggesting anyone should get locked up for 10 years for swearing in public). I see these types of scenarios being played out week after week, and I applaud the police for their patience. Lesser people would have literally banged some heads together, thereby ending their careers in an instant. Regarding the police asking people to move on, I find it hard to believe it's not for a good reason. It's usually because the police are trying to talk to someone and they don't want too many of their mates hanging around with ill-intent, chirping in from the sidelines or worse getting involved physically. People seem to have amazingly poor situational awareness, so I wouldn't trust their judgement when they say, "But why do I need to move on?" It's another example of people pushing back against the police because... well... who knows why. At some point people have to trust the authorities in some ways, otherwise none of us will get anywhere: I wouldn't trust a policeman I didn't know with my deepest secrets, but accepting they know what they're doing when making small requests is something I can do. Dude, how would you feel if a customer of yours asked for in-depth justification of work you intend to carry out? "Why does this oil filter need changing? Isn't there still some life in the old one? I know Toyota recommend it be changed for x miles, but they're just money-hungry b****ards. Show me where it's clogged up. Show me the proof. And the air filter: are you trying to tuck me up? I've only had it on 12 months and it looks fine to me." What if several, or most, of your customers were like that? My experiences are from the viewpoint of someone who grew up in a reasonable area, so it might be different if I lived in a more run-down area. But the coppers in the well-off areas are still coppers.

I've got no experience of that model but I'd put money on that it's ghot nothing to do with Toyota themselves. It looks like a cheap converter that will over-assist your power steering. I would use the wiring diagram here as a reference: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.betts/supra/TechTips/dsc_speedo_mph.jpg So, splice the red wire into pin 4 of the speedo connector (C13). Connect the black wire to any convenient earth point or wire: the diagram doesn't specify a particular connection. Cut the wire going into pin 5, leaving at least 3 or 4 inches on the connector side. Join the yellow wire to the loom side of the wire you just cut. Join the green wire to the connector side of the wire you just cut. Job done. Don't worry about the daisy-chained wires on the end of the green: it looks like someone wanted to extend that wire, and used whatever colours they had in the bottom of their toolbox. You're lucky they didn't have tartan and baby-pink instead as that's what they would have probably used . Remove the extensions if you want.

Buying an auto NA and converting it to a manual twin turbo is fine if you'd enjoy doing the work at least as much as having the finished article. If that's not the case, keep saving so you can buy what you really want.

I'm a bit jealous of your MR2 Col, that's a lovely looking car!

I've done this on a 1998/9 T-reg Fiesta successfully. I made sure that the year (approximately), engine size, transmission and dashboard dial configuration (i.e. digital or analogue odometer) of the donor car were the same as my car. You have PM because there's a bit of immobiliser-specific info.

Does anyone have a mains charger for one of these lying around gathering dust by any chance? There's loads sold on ebay but I thought I'd give this forum a go first.

I imagine it would increase it by a bit. Edit: you'd be mad to run a car without one though.
