  1. I agree. It's poor, although I accept it is free. I've tried UltraVNC, TightVNC, vanillaVNC etc, and they all have the same problems which are slow performance all round, and an annoying mouse-cursor tracking method. NetSupport Manager does the mouse properly, just like RDP, so you don't really notice any lag, and it's generally very fast if the bit depth is limited. I'd probably still prefer RDP above NSM but I use NSM on hundreds of computers over ADSL WAN links and it's super. If only they'd bring out a Linux control though.
  2. I take it your desktop isn't running XP Pro ? VNC is so very slow and awful to use. NetSupport Manager is the next best thing to RDP (Remote Desktop, as found in XP Pro).
  3. Seems to be a common thing with Toyotas. The Celica GT4 ST205 is around the same weight as the NA Supra, or so I read. The engine block is cast iron anyway, so it's strength for the sake of weight I suppose.
  4. Thanks for that. It's not a hard one is it
  5. How's that achieved then? Mental cams, ultra high compression, increased capacity or all three?
  6. You should be able to tell them that it's for the 4pot front/2pot rear setup, with 320-odd-mm discs. Their parts catalogue should say which pot/disk size setup they are to suit
  7. Do you think it will really be 400bhp though? It's clearly not a VVTi so how believable can the 400bhp claim be?
  8. Really? http://www.socalsupras.com/images/Mk4/400NA-1.jpg
  9. Funny that, I remember seeing a Rover coffin-car and immediately thinking it would make a great convertible.
  10. That's pretty standard practice really. IBM have similar markups for mini-pci wireless cards, DVDR/W drives, etc. All standard stuff. Dell will charge you £200 for a £70 hard drive. They will sell you a Quad-Core Xeon 2.whateverGHz server for £599 and charge you £599 for an additional processor of the same type as already included in the machine.
  11. Hmm. That puts a different angle on things. Funny that the mobile numbers in the loot would all have a strong foreign accent on voicemail saying "LRE DIAL 0 7 0 0 x x x" though.
  12. Yep you're right, I sussed that out after reading the description properly. I knew I'd be able to get it from a chemical supply house or something but I wanted to get this laptop cleaned up today. Thanks for the pointers everyone. Boots.. didn't think of them.
  13. Definately a scam, for sure. Just not sure how they expect to take money. I'd have thought people would want to go and look at a TV out of the Loot.. Thanks for the link though, reading it now..
  14. Oh, there's the other possibility I forgot about. The 070 number could be redirecting to Nigeria or somewhere.. hmmm. Then they'd have to con you into sending some money to them though.
  15. Really? I didn't know that. All I found was the phone company I use for some redirect stuff (http://www.uknumber.co.uk ) say theirs costs callers 20-odd p/minute. I guess it's one of those where they can charge whatever they want then. Cheeky bastards...
  16. Does anybody know the deal here? The Loot, and this AdTrader thing, are full of underpriced Plasma & LCD TVs but they all have 0700x phone numbers, or they have a normal mobile number, with a voicemail recording of "Redial 07xxxx", always foreign accent to the voice. I can think of two possible scenarios: 1. They're making revenue off the calls, although they're not massive revenue generating numbers, costing ~22p/min ish. 2. They're selling stolen goods and don't want a proper number on there because it might make it easier to find them. I'm thinking along the lines of number 1. Does anybody know anything of this con?
  17. Great information. I'd never have known about instant arming, but if the situation ever arises I now know to keep the baseball bat/bb gun/whatever on the landing or something and not pick it up until I've seen if they have a weapon. What if they were going to kill you by punching you and jumping up and down on your head and stuff, you know, the way most British kids do things nowadays? There wouldn't be a weapon to spot first would there?
  18. Except that generally you do not need to 'set' anything from the laptop. Turning on WPA on your router/AP will make WPA a requirement for connecting so the laptop will use WPA automatically. You'll see WPA in brackets after 'security enabled network' in the network list if you're using XP with SP2. Unless you have a funny WEP&WPA at the same time type of box (Wanadoo LiveBox etc.)
  19. It's just no good is it. How can kids be expected to have any proper interests any more when they're not even allowed to experiment and learn things. I wonder if you can still buy Chemistry Sets from Toys'r'Us ? Do you think they still have magnesium ribbon in them even if you could? I had a nightmare getting some spirits of salt as well. "uh? what?"
  20. Ah, good old Maplin: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=28994&criteria=ipa&doy=20m11 Aerosol can is a P.I.T.A though.

    Wow

LOL. It really did sound like you were reciting a dream
  22. How hard is it to get simple stuff like IPA nowadays? (Rhetorical question.. it's hard) I've been to a couple of pharmacies and the lady behind the counter goes looking on the shelf, then the chemist says no, can't do stuff like that any more, laws and what not. Can I use white spirits to clean dried-on Wine from a motherboard or do I need to make a trip to RS or Maplin or something?
  23. I'll take some when they're on a less filthy piece of carpet They need to go to the vets for worming stuff or whatever it is, then they're in the Loot and the cats are going to be sewn up! It's cruel, but we have two female cats and since the second one (daughter of the other one) has started having kittens, and five this time (mum only has three at a time usually), it's looking like it's going to be constant kittens if we don't get it done, and five kittens worth of cat shit in a litter tray does smell I'm teaching them about the cat flap at the moment so I can put it outside.
