After a massive skid in mine a while back mine made funny bumping noises. The only thing I can think of was that I flat spotted two of my tyres cos the bumps used to come in and out of phase with each other. Having changed the wheels and tyres it doesn't do it any more. Strange that yours only does the vibration thing in the rain though. Maybe there is a bubble inside the tyre somewhere that water is getting into but you would think that centrifugal force would push the water out? Not wanting to sound like a tw*t but the directional tyres are on in the correct direction aren't they??

He he this N/A thread does generate some friction in the community almost as much as J-spec-UK lol. Having investigated this now for some time and seriously considered all options I am finding that the cheapest keep your existing car option with a straight power hike to around 300 is the TT transplant option. I envisage final costs by the time I have sold my existing engine and gearbox to help fund the job being circa 3 grand. Its going to be a lot of work and a lot of faffing about but I get to keep my car which I simply adore. The seperate jobs of exhausts and cams and decats and all the rest doesn't appeal to me at all as individually I am not sure I would notice the increases in power hence this solution is not my bag at all. A mate of mine at work did something very similar with a golf GTI over a ten year period. He tuned it up to around 300 bhp ish and had a seriously quick golf. He added all the bills up one day and it was about £30k (he blew 3 engines up and wreaked a gearbox in that time). He didn't mind at all as a lot of the work he had been directly involved in so the car was less a car and more a part of his life. Anyone that has or does own a boat will get what I mean by that. If your car is just a car then yes the financial side will win through and common sense will prevail. If your car is more than that to you then spending the money to tune it won't be as some have said a waste of money. Mandy's car obviously runs OK and is still going forwards in the MOD department so someone has gone about the MOD's in the correct fashion allready. The N/A community is getting braver and wanting to stand up to be counted so lets count them and help them on their way, in the meantime I will defect to the TT lol

Don't forget mrs dangerous is the real brains of the outfit and technically she actualy owns the soop as her name is on the V5 and she drives it to work every day.
-
Search on here but I am sure there is a standard front bumper available much cheapness. Be cheaper than filling etc.

You can get sprays for tinting the inside of lights.

There is another thread somewhere about these made by a jap firm specifically for the soop. This is a MOD I am definitely lining up to have done. I am sick of doing the limbo on one leg trying to get back in my car at tesco's or whatever after some goon parks too close. Parking spaces these days are getting thinner and thinner and the soop just aint a thin car. I just hate all the glares I get for parking in mother and baby slots or disabled. Someone actually had a go at me about it once til I pointed out the other 10 disabled spots and that there was a low probability of the disabled league holding a meeting there in the next 20 minutes. Oh and IMHO those doors look cool as specially I would say with the roof off.

And you don't think I might nitrous mine as well PMSL

Hey mines a legit N/A says so on the V5 :p

OK Ok My feelings have been stated. I agree with stealth host on all of his points especially the one about the jumping on by TT peeps on any new idea. If its the car you want then by all means buy one. All I am trying to say to you is be very informed on various prices and what can be done with your money. I too bought my N/A as it was the better looking car (I had a choice same price of a TT hardtop and my aero). The insurance the first year out was double for the TT as well which really put me off. Servicings at 3000 only consist of an oil change which I have to admit I do anyway on all my cars and always have done. Seriously add up the initial cost of a TT and see if you can afford that as long term that will be the cheaper option. If not then do by all means go for an N/A. I have been more than happy with mine for 2 years. Just going to meets and gettin embarassed by skoda's anoyyed me into looking for more power lol.

Sorry syed but absolute balls. Anyone with a modicum of responsibility can tame their wild side in the first few months of driving. Not everyone will rush out and crash a car. Also road for road the TT will be a quicker car no doubts. If you know how to drive you won't crash a TT will you. And as for the costs of running an N/A over a TT the differences are very minimal with only insurance costs being the biggy. That said you go tuning an N/A to TT stock power and you will up your insurance to that as well. Seriously fella I have an N/A. I am going to the truoble of transplanting a TT engine into it to up its power to be up with the rest of the soop guys, and all the daft cars that seem to laff at me including sodding skodas!!! Don't go down the N/A route if you know you are going to want more power.

I put an explanation of what the overdrive does a while back in a thread. There is also a technical article either on here or supraforums about the overdrive. Basically its a fourth gear that you can switch off. The only acceleration advantage to hitting that button is if you are on the M'way and at 90 the gearbox wont drop down when you floor it so push the button before you want to go and it drops down, you can push the button again straight away and it will stay in 3rd til it hits the rev change limit on the gearbox.

I use Cobbs brothers garage in Poole for all my MOT and non car specific stuff. They are obviously becoming more and more familiar with my motor as I have been taking it there for 3 years now. They are honest and above board give em a call on 01202 770680 They are usually very busy which is a good sign as well LOL. For major services and car specific stuff I also use Triton.

ROFL take it easy on me lol

I want I want I want

Well I like them so there!!!http://www.frugal-families.com/forums/images/smilies/raspberry.gif

I even like the stock alloys. I do however like them bling chromed like some of the yank motors.

Surely though if you haven't already purchased a car the better sense option is to buy the car that is already at the power level that you want? Unless you are going aero-top the price difference is now so little that with a trade off of miles you can get a TT for the same money as an N/A. You can of course buy an N/A and after a year or so and going to a few meets and feeling slow you will want that extra power, I know I have that feeling right now and its not nice.

Aw shucks thankyou for finally accepting Red as THE premium colour lol.

I am very dubious about the various body kits on the market. Some of the bumpers are a bit too much for me. The big veilside spoilers are IMO a tad in your face and very heavy if you want to be putting summat in the boot a lot. the side skirts are all a touch expensive for a couple of bits of plastic so all in all I will probably stay with the standard look for now. There are some odds and sods I would like to do but they can wait til I have sorted the powerplant out. I will be at the next SEM if I can get there and the future ones across the summer. I have my name down on the drive that WSB2 is making a hash of organisin so you will probably catch me somewhere over the summer.

He's not about mine Faye!!!!!! And what is wrong with red??? It is after all the premium colour to have don't ya know!!!http://www.frugal-families.com/forums/images/smilies/raspberry.gif http://www.frugal-families.com/forums/images/smilies/ROFL1.gif

I am awaiting the donor vehicle becoming available (personal plates make a mess of sorting out write offs). I am doing the job myself with the aid of a guy thats being transplanting engines as a hobby since he was 13 years old so I will be cataloguing every penny spent and every step taken and importantly every minute spent doing the job. I will be taking a multitude of photo's along the way identifying every step every plug I undo every bolt I undo and labelling up the differences between the two engine types. When its done I will put it all on a CD and send it to those that want it. Because of the disparity between aero N/A and TT prices this job is well worth doing and I am sure I will have the proof very soon.

And ariston And On this thread rolls. Like when I dared to suggest fitting a supercharger instead of of a turbokit I got all this balls about 700 hp machines etc lol. I looked at the options for mine and the tuning options collectively ie the exhaust upgrades and the decats and the head work and lightening and all the rest of it totted up to a hell of a lot of cash For example £500-£600 just for the exhaust. Now most people will not juust go out and splurge a load of money out in one go and have the car upgraded like that. They will do the job in stages ie one month do the decat in another the exhaust. Then whichever of the port flow work/ lightening work will be the right way round of doing things. All of these steps over possibly years. Thats how that kind of upgrade will work for those that can't afford the immediate leap to TT power. For those that want the immediate rise to TT power then financially speaking the tuning option is a less viable option than looking at forced induction. I still put my money on the supercharger over a turbo charger kit if you only want to extract stock TT power, for all the reasons I put in my thread on the subject. Then there is the other option that they reccomend in the states and thats a transplant. If you can source the engine and drivetrain (I have been offered from more than 1 source a TT engine transmission setup for circa £2k so they are out there and available), best bet is a whole written off car which are unfortunately for the previous owners available. I still think that once developed the supercharger will be a very good option but with a transplant running significantly cheaper than the developement costs of a supercharger kit financially I am left with little option but to go for the cash freindly option.

Keep the aero and bung my spare N/A engine in the back and have the first ever twin engined supra!!!! If they can do it with a golf then I guess its gotta be worth a go.

I didnt want to name names Tim Lol. Another thing for you tyre-welders to consider is that I am sure that tyre weld shags the tyres if used on them.
