Getting the nuts off is the easy bit, just be really careful with the wire connector, mine was very brittle and a small piece broke off

Have you hit any kerbs/pot holes and put the tracking alignment out, check to see if the outside or inside edge of the tyre is wearing out

Gearbox spigot bearing, where does it go n what's it for
2soops replied to hodge's topic in mkiv Technical
It provides a support for the input shaft of the gearbox as it goes through the hole in the middle of the bearing. I would imagine without it the input shaft has more freedom to move around off centre and probably cause premature wear to its bearings and oil seals. If it were mine id put one in before i used it again!!!! -
Thanks mate, will let you know after weekend

Ouch, Anyone want to buy a qaulity used Rover, with reliability like this you cant go wrong!!! LOL

That might be useful to have, had a quick look over it again tonight after work and im pretty convinced the job wasnt even done in the first place. It was a friend of my dads who was the head mechanic for a local Rover dealer, so should have been more than up to the job. The reason i dont think hes done it, is all of the exhaust manifold studs, and the downpipe ones are obviously 12 years old now, and still have 12 years worth of powdery rust in the threads. These have 100% not been undone for years. Unless he's found a way to remove the head with the exhaust manifold, down pipe, flex joint and all of the other piping that runs under the engine still attached, its not been done. Would a blown head gasket give the sustained pressure in the system, even days after its been run as i thought it would have escaped via the gasket breach. I cant work out how waters getting out, but not air pressure!!!!! Lastly, would a blown gasket cause the poor hot/cold starting issues, i've ruled out pretty much everything electrical apart from the coolant temp sensor which i will change at the weekend Cheers guys

Hi All, have a 416 rover runabout with a K series engine. Lateley its decided not to start on all cylinders, but usually 2 working up to 4 after about 20 seconds. Does this hot or cold. Have changed the usual, plugs, leads cap, rotor are and coil, but no difference. Seems to run fine when warm Its also started using about a pint of water per 100 miles. I cannot find a leak anywhere, despite spending much time looking. The strange thing with the water loss, even 24 hours after you turn the car off, there is still a loud hiss from the header tank if you remove the lid. I dont know why its still pressurised after its cooled down, or how water is escaping if pressure isnt. I did think it might be the head gasket which is common on these but it was done by a garage only 5000 miles ago. Anyone got any ideas (apart from torching it) as its driving me barmy, only be a matter of time before it wont Thanks, Al

Good friend of mine who was about 25 stone had a Metro years ago, didnt know the floor was rotten until he got in quick oneday and put the 2 rear seats mounts through the floor!!!!

My Mk3 had one exactly the same and when i routed the twin 2.5 exhaust for the chevy engine i removed it with no noticable structural problems. I think its more of a brace than a prop catcher as previously said its way too far back to be of any use. If the rear of the prop broke it would simply drop to the ground causing no real problems anyway. Personally i would remake a different shape one to suit the exhasut just to be one the safe side.

I can verify this, i got one in the company lorry and it took 4 months to come through!!!!!! Something to do with our company hiring it from another company who hired it from the owners, took a while to finally get back to the driver. Still did though:( Dare say it would be quicker to come through with a straight forward car owner/driver

Hi everyone, was planning to fit some HSD coilovers this weekend and realised i don't have a C spanner, none supplied in the box either. Would anyone know off the top of their head what size i will need to get. Cheers

Definately UK, however mines short enough to just be the width of a Jspec with the height of a UK

Of course mate, thats fine. Il even find you a couple of M6 bolts for it too. Il PM you paypal details

I had all these problems too, very common. I couldn't even use the original electric fan and fitted an aftermarket one which was thinner. Dont bypass the power steering cooler, i carefully bent mine a little at a time so it was no longer in the way. Couldnt find an expansion tank so i ended up making a stainless one

Hi mate, yes the pipe goes in the hole at the bottom of the airbox and sits under the headlight to draw cold air in. I already had one of these and was posted it by mistake by another member so now have 2. I would do a straight swap for the other pipe but theres one on my car already so no need. This ones still here if you want it

Sorry mate, already posted im afraid

Hi all, was sorting the garage out over the weekend and have decided to clear out the following parts; 1 - Pair of Cobra Imola Wide seats which i bought brand new from Demon Tweeks for my V8 mk3, these are in perfect as new condition and have only ever been test fitted. They include the aluminium cobra side mounts, which do have a couple of scratches to the bottom where they were fitted, these are not noticable when fitted. The seats themselves are very very light, made from diolin i think, and were bought in 2007. You probably wouldn't be able to use the cobra mounts and would need to fab some. Looking for £250 for these collected or delivered within reason, not keen on posting due to the size and damage factor. 2 - Momo steering wheel with boss, black and carbon effect, again this was bought for the mk3 but came with a mkiv boss. Has wiring for horn push in center. Again perfect condition £60 3 - Stainless Steel xspower FMIC polished hardpipe kit, including silicone hoses and mikalor clamps. I havent fitted this as my intercooler is too big which makes the pipes effectively too long without adjustment. Again in new and unused condition £100 4 - HKS RS polished aluminium induction kit including stainless clamps and silicone hoses. I have reverted back to the stock airbox so this is no longer required, could do with a repolish, filter is not very old but seems to have some oil on it, may wash off or would probably need a new filter. £50 5 - Intake air temperature sensor, used, its my old one which is now spare. i bought a new one trying to diagnose a problem, but it turned out not to be this. Offers 6- Air box inlet pipe which sits under the headlight, was posted this by someone who thought it was something else. £5 7 - Complete 2JZ-GTE inlet pipe system which i believe is off a soarer as the bov is different to a supra. I bought this with the intention of polishing the pipes then swapping them over but can't be arsed now, £35 8 - Various turbo gaskets for a uk i believe, left over from when i changed the turbos on my jspec, toyota sent the wrong gasket kit and wouldnt refund as id already used some. Offers 9 - Double Din CD & Mini Disc, all working but too many functions for me. I think its quite old and was in my car when i bought it. Offers Thanks for looking, i hope you find something of interest Al
