  1. Post your issues/timings if you can! I've got the same thing in my mind for later in the year!
  2. Because, as with all things in automotive-dom - far from being made to function perfectly in my situation, the ECU as supplied was designed as a jack of all trades. The 'millions in development' argument is as valid for the stock turbos, and the stock suspension, and stock bumpers... Isn't it? But since hacking a different engine in then trying to get 50% more power out of it then thrashing it round a track probably wasn't in the Denso product spec I'm tempted to argue that MegaSquirt is a far more targeted product...
  3. Will do! Just picked up the Soarer today, so hopes I'll put up a project thread once work is under way so people will know what's what!
  4. Yeah, I suspected I'd be safe on the engine front, it's the Chassis front I'm worried about. When someone was talking about the cop-out de-restrictors which just divide the wheel speed by 1.61, someone else mentioned that there were a lot of speed sensitive foibles on the body electronics which would be messed up, the one which stuck in my mind was the power steering, but they'd made it sound as if there might be more... Am I being an automotive hypochondriac, or were their warnings justified?
  5. I don't think so, the 1JZ lump is coming from a 1990 Soarer... So I think I'm safe!
  6. Yup, I genuinely want to learn more - I'm a programmer by trade so that bit doesn't threaten me too much and I'm about to try a 1JZ conversion. Happy to suffer under my own ignorance, but I'm not too sure about what may cease to function once the Toyota ECU is out of the way.
  7. Anyone tried this? I'm comfortable that the engine will be fine, but I've heard tales of the the speed sensitive powersteering and was wondering if there were many other speed sensitive/ecu managed processes which I'd need to be thinking my way around.
  8. THREAD-SURECTION... Sorry! Can anyone confirm that all of the 1JZ/2JZ-GE/2JZ-GTE sumps are interchangeable?
  9. Hi Keron - do you have the complete Sill trim minus the brake ducts (which you supplied a while back) ? Any colour's fine! Ta!
  10. Cheers guys, tracked it down! It's labelled "Sensor Assy, Vacuum" and fortunately/unfortunately doesn't seem to be the cause for my issues... Haw-Hum.
  11. How is a JDM 1993 N/A Supra's air flow measured? I believe it's MAP, although the USDM one (which the Service Manual refers to) is AFM. Have had a look on here and on the internet more widely and I'm struggling to get a definitive answer. If anyone could tell me where it was and perhaps even what it might look like, that would be amazing. Thanks!
  12. When you say "Death" Whine - do we know what the final cause of death was?
  13. Pah - I return scoff at your filthy BSOD conjuring ways. For gaming, as with being a record breaker, Dedication's What You Need.
  14. Definitely with the crowd on this one. Bigger tyres=Better ride. I'm going from 17's to 18's but I'm going to upscale the OD a little so I don't lose too much tyre squish. High ratio tyres may make it vaguer/flappier in the corners, but it soaks up bumps.
  15. Lovely job! Is there a build thread for your NA-T?
  16. Incredible does what it says on the tin... I'd go HTC, but I'm biased and always do.
  17. You'll find me circling overhead - I'll give him a swoop, ta!
  18. Do you know what he's done/doing with the matt plastic trims from the sills?
  19. I didn't mean to be patronising in the slightest, and I apologise if that's how it came across. I've driven a few, not owned one. But just as I've owned MA70's with and without and won't have an auto ever again. I'm pleased that you're happy with your auto, I really am - but that's not a reflection on me. If there is one single thing I really love doing it's changing gear. Please don't take that personally. But I've driven enough autos to know I never want to own one again.
  20. As I said, a matter of taste. Personally, I run no ABS, Manual, have power steering but to me that's not control, just amplification of control. No Traction control. Tyres aren't a control. The question, for me is can anything but me make an alteration to the car as a result of the car's situation. In an ideal world I'd have electronics to get the amount of power I demand with my right foot from the engine and absolutely nothing else. My problem is not with auto Supras, but with autos full stop. My first car was an auto MA70 and I swore I'd never buy another. Then I had an auto GS300. I really won't ever have another, because I just don't enjoy driving them. If you do, that's lovely - each to their own.
  21. It's just taste. Personally, I'd never drive any Automatic for fun. If you make a car to be engaging and challenging, relinquishing a control is rather a odd thing to do.
  22. To do with the engine nothing - that I can see - but as per some of the crap for sale threads I've put it'd been neoned and filled with horrid junky Chinese audio. and had awful LED indicators stuck to it. Loads of weird wires are loose in the engine bay nothing connected to anything logical though... Just looking like a bit of a mess, really.
  23. Din't wurry yersel' it's the berk of an ex owner that's bolloxed it if you ask me. Savings are never all they seem I'm afraid.
  24. Not sure how to reset - the battery's been connected and re-connected but no improvement.
  25. Thought I'd come in for a bit of a cry... Car's smoking like a fire in a tyre factory, thankfully using no Oil, but it's guzzling petrol. Can't get any signal from the ODB port - the RAC say 'no power on the live wire'... Have tried to get the diagnostics flash on the CEL, but I can't seem to get anywhere shorting TE1 & E1 (it's a 93 Manual NA). George89's going to send me some working Lambdas... See how that goes. Doesn't help the fact that the my ECU seems to have been bodged to death. *Whimper* Any advice? Either how to fix the elecs, or the best way to tie a noose using a Supra loom... Ta!
