i went from a ST185 GT4 for a supe SZ. for me, i miss the power/pull of the turbo engine through the rev range that the GT4 has, but the supe has a diff delivery of power at the other end that kicks in at 5k+ rpm. for that reason to me the GT4 felt faster, but in saying that i drive an auto SZ. as for comfort i have to pick the Supe, its got such a great cockpit driving position. but what with the bad weather we had over xmas, i found the supe was all over the place. the GT4 on the other hand was much more controllable in those conditions. i love both cars, for different reasons. since you have a supe already i would say go for the GT4! ive also noticed that i used to get around 25mpg in the GT4 and now in the supe i get about 23-24mpg so pretty much the same in terms of fuel economy.

Hey man, i am after just one headlight to do a trial mod if you would be interested in going halfers? i actually dont even need a working one just need to take measurements of the chrome rings from the inside and dont want to "test" on my good set like yourself!

Hi, Here we have various parts for sale from an old MR2 rev2 engine that i bought to replace parts on my old JDM Celica GT4 ST185 (both used the 3S-GTE engine). i have since sold the car and am left with all the bits! All parts here have done around 100k miles and came from a working 1993 3s-gte spares engine. If anyone has any questions ill try my best to answer them, just drop me a PM. All pics taken are attached. Can take more if requested and thanks for looking. Cylinder head and turbo side manifold - £100 SOLD CT-26 Turbo - £100 - has very little horizontal play, about 1-2mm movement but i am told this is normal. Before coming off it was running a safe 10psi. These turbos take up to 1bar (14psi) before they start to be inefficient, but will limit the life of the turbo. TVIS Assembly - £25 Fuel Rail - £25 Water pump+pipes+housing - £30 Crankshaft - £50 Inlet Manifold - £30 Misc parts - Pistons/conrods. Open to offers ST182/3/5 Complete Seatbelt Set - £15 All locking and working (Pics to follow) ST182/3/5 2x Complete Headlight Units (grey) - £50 Complete with working motors. (Pics to follow) Swoosh Water Temp Gauge - £10 I have a Swoosh Water Temp Gauge (deg F) that is back lit in white but the light keeps cutting out, but the needle light (red) lights up the gauge anyway and the unit still works normally. Pic attached from item website. Triple Hole Gauge Pod Sunshade - £10 I think is Swoosh as well? Is dash mount type (looks like scooby kind), is black, unused and boxed, ended up going for a DIN guage holder instead. Pics here New Poly ARB Bushes (rear) for ST185, may fit MR2? bought from fensport - £5 ST185 GT4 ('93) Stearing wheel, slightly worn - £15 ST18x rear seatbelt set (x3) in good working condition - £15 UPGRADES ST205 Charge cooler kit - £250 ono Everything needed to upgrade st185/MR2 3sgte intercooler. Kit includes charge cooler, front mount intercooler radiator, piping, water pump, throttle body sock to fit gen5 celica and mk2 rev2 mr2, all plugs/connectors and overflow bottle. My st185 GT4 was sold before i got round to fitting this kit so now have no need for it. This is a very popular upgrade for the MR2/GT4 ST185 owners out there as they will know the Air-to-Air intercooler setup suffers from the dreaded HEAT SOAK! The charge cooler setup (water cooled) helps keep those inlet temps down I still need to get a pic of the Charge cooler setup which i will get in the new year, so i have added a picture from the internet for description purposes. The picture is with the Charge Cooler setup installed in an MR2. Willing to ship certain items, but would much prefer collection as some of these parts are pretty heavy! Prices are including P+P if reqd, except the really heavy items. I stay in Glasgow and have most of the parts, but a couple of the heavier parts are in Perth at my parents house, so i can pick up when ready. Cheers

ah your not far away - carntyne here. what suspension you sticking on? i googled hypertech - never heard of them before but not too far away and worth checking out! spesh the rolling road, ive always been curious as to how many ponies have been lost over the years you know. i know us scots dont have alot to choose from :/

nice one - man a TT is a dream for me but a distant one unless i come into some serious bux in the near future! BPU'd - must be even more awesome! not got loads planned as im not made of money at the moment - but i have some knocking at the mo and it turns out my front shockies are just showing their age. i love the supra noise and have done since the infamous F&F film so i quite fancy stickin on an exhaust but nuthin too loud - also maybe ditch one of the cats aswell for a bit more ponies. a decent sound setup (car came with a cheap ass dvd/tv thing its just pants really!). ive got an apexi induction kit that i want to fit and ive also got a template for a cold air box with feeds so will get that done too, also as a winter project i am attemptin my own angel / halo eyes once i get the chrome ring dimensions. for the suspension i was gonna stick into a garage i use (G.B. Autos in irvine very good and £40/h) but ive got some hands on mates (a gt4 owner and a MR2 mk1.5 (mk1 with st205 gt4 engine) pushin 300bhp NICE!) that have offered to help me fit them so im gonna do that in the new year, im no mechanic but i love to try do things myself where ever possible you know. get soem pics up dude she looked sweet as! where bouts you from in glasgow? im an east ender myself. i use that guy in irvine because hes close to an work office i cover. Dave

Hi got all my bits n bobs to start my winter project, creating the angel eye / halo rings to install within the headlight units. before i started thinking about this i had my old jap headlights and long story short i ended up chucking them as i couldnt shift them. my question is this, can anyone who has maybe done this before or who just knows, please tell me the sizes of the chrome rings inside the mk4 headlights? Full beam, main beam and fogs - would be such a big help thanks in advance DG

saw gun metal grey supe today on oswald street glasgow (8.50am) - i think it was an N reg and had the rear bumper side lights (does that make it a facelift?) after market alloys and i think standard exhaust. have seen this guy before also along argyll street glasgow. only in the mornings! sweet ride dude!

you know i saw the BC Coilovers and i was tempted - i've read and heard that coilovers are adjustable from stiff to rock solid! and i really didnt want that at all. i have to say i was mighty tempted though, from what i read they are great value for money too. i have to start somewhere i guess, i have always had standard suspension on all my cars, apart from the late GT4 which had eibach lowering springs installed by prev owner. oh and found the how-to! -- http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=177475 couldnt see the wood for the trees!
-
well after much hum and ho'ing ive bit the bullet and went for the Koni's with eibach lowering springs from Whifbitz (Cheers PW, and thanks CW for advise and help, much appreciated). Gonna be tackling this install in the newyr does anyone know of a how-to? and also if there are any special tools required to remove certain parts? (other than the spring tentioners) or any common problems that may arise? just trying to arm ourselves up! Thanks again for everyones input so far

hey bud, i have been making suspension enquiries myself, theres a pic of the modified bilsteins here in this thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=203228

ok so i have been hunting around and reading about different setups and i am sort of hovering around::: Bilstein B6 Sports Shocks - http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/detprod.asp?productcode=B46-1792&PID=823385 or from CW OR Koni adjustables - http://garagewhifbitz.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=7540&category_id=2309&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53&vmcchk=1&Itemid=53 Koni's are cheaper AND have the adjust feature which may come in handy given that i'm planning a trip to experience the Nurburgring later next year...but if Mr T put Bilstein shocks on as standard on some Supes then it must have been for a reason! So apart from that i think i need to marry them up with springs, i dont want to lower it too much, already riding on 18" rims but could maybe get away with another 10-20mm drop up front and maybe 10mm at the back? ive checked out tein and from what i have found they offer quite a drop around 30mm and found these: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m14b218s1752p7002 - a little confusing the description on left says 35mm drop but the right hand side description says front 32mm and rear 20mm... I have also found an eibach set on Ebay going for £215 offering a drop of Front 32mm and Rear 25mm. anyone got any other suggestions? Thanks again.
