  1. Of course its possible its just that its not been possible till now or in near future. Your comments remind me of the man who used to be in charge of the patent office in the 1840s (or around that time) he said this ( remember where talking in the 1840s here). "im retiring as everything that can be invented has been invented" What a laugh:D Diesel may just be the way forward if you ask me.
  2. SAD, SAD, SAD. Yes the car looks great, but he needs to get out more. He has too much time on his hands and if you ask me he is heading for the nut house if a truck goes past and sprays his car with muck. A wash and polish regularly is fine as it leaves time for a pint, a job, a hobby, a wife and kids, but 51 coats of polish and my wife would kill me.
  3. Why not ask Toyota what they came with/what they would replace with ?
  4. Sorry cant help, my N/A has a Halfords HC005. Wasnt aware that its the wrong sort

    Supra diesel

Whats the latest with this project ?
  6. Why, they are a good car. Maybe not supra fast out of the tin, but still quick and a strong engine capable of many mods and big power from what ive gathered. If anything, it may be the next supra in terms of cheap modable power. At the end of the day, supras are 15yrs old and within 5 yrs there will be a lot less about i would imagine, so people will need another newer modable car and the 350Z may well fit the bill for many people.
  7. I have the same problem handling wise. Not sure what the CW kit comprises of, but its not as simple as shocks and spings with a 15yr old supra. Loads of people have had to replace upper and lower suspension arms over the last few years due to play/wear on ball joints etc (including me). Shocks also seem to be showing signs of age in many supras, so my advice would be to speak to someone locally who has had supras and tinkered with them for ages. My local garage noticed that my dampers were performing differently and but also said they were passable MOT wise. When i spoke to Daryl (Homer) last night at Reading jap meet he had a look and straight away said that they shouldnt be as bad as they were. Expert knowledge is the best starter rather than just replacing parts without first getting someone to diagnose the exact problem. If another member locally can take a look first, that would be the best starting point (but CW stuff is likly to be good bearing in mind all the positive stuff ive heard in the past)
  8. Those brakes are indeed a work of art and at £3200 quite cheap considering most art is hundreds of thousands and does sod all apart from sit on the wall. You got a bargain The car is looking very nice, but i will stick to eating my dinner off my plate rather than from the underside of your car thanks. Please please please take me for a spin in it at Reading jap meet when its completed. I was only talking to Daryl last night about how ive never even been in a TT, never mind a well prepared single.
  9. Was behind you this morning in traffic. Flashed but not sure you noticed me till i turned off on Castle Hill. Sure i saw your car on the back of a transporter a few months ago ?

    Tyres

I managed to get 2 x 295/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sport part worns almost new for £100 per tyre. I live near the porsche main dealer in Reading and my local garage gets the part worns off all the porches there for very cheap. You are limited on sizes in 19s as they only do a few 19s on the porches (295/30/19 and 235/35/19) but they sure are cheap compared to those prices. If you are near reading its worth a try. pm me if you want the name of the garage.
  11. What brand ? How much tread left ? Postcode to collect from so i can check milage ?
  12. Hi, i need a drivers side upper rear suspension arm (the one that looks like a wishbone) and also rear shocks (actually only passenger side one but might as well change both) Please let me know if these are for sale Thanks
  13. Are you saying the TT auto is faster that the manual and the N/A auto is slower than the manual ? Admittedly all the talk of how excellent the auto is has come from TT owners, not N/A owners, but i thought the auto was the same box ?
  14. I MIGHT be going to the Reading meet on Tues. If you are there i will take you out in mine.
  15. Not as much work as reading that
  16. Exactly, theres not much in it which is what i was trying to say.
  17. You might need another soon with 615BHP, and i would want it to come with a spare pair of brown underpants too if i had that much power.
  18. Look at the classified section on here. A very good N/A might fetch £5K to 6K if its a facelift model with a 6 speed box. Early 5 speeds go for between £3K and 4.5K. Some auto N/As have been going for £2.5K recently, but dont let the auto put you off. Ive never driven one, but everyone on here whos had one says they are fantastic and usually quicker than the manual. To drop TT engine in along with other required parts will cost about £1.5 to 3K depending on how lucky you are getting parts and if you do the labour yourself. Someone on here does an N/A to TT conversion for about £2.5K but i cant recall who. Its usually best to just buy a TT unless you are really attached to the car. Hope that helps
  19. both boxster and merc would beat an N/A supe. Both have more power and similar (ish) weights so its quite simple really. In terms of the mondeo then that will be very close with the supe. They have very similar power after all (225BHP and 220BHP) an weight wont be a million miles away again. In their day, N/A supes were fast and TTs were mega fast. Today most big cars come with plenty of power from the factory so an N/A supe doesnt have an edge anymore. N/As will be roughly on par with the following : - Clio 172/182/192 Mondeo ST220 BMW 330i Merks SLK 230 kompressor Focus ST All have similar 0 to 60s etc, and it will only be at above 70 where any differences are really noticed in my opinion. However, 1 car looks a lot better thajn all the above and costs much less to buy due to iys age. yes thats the supe. To top it all, it will be far far more reliable due to the fact that everything is massivley overspeced which means that if you do ever wish to turbo it, you will have no problems (better still and cheaper, just drop a TT lump in and then blow all the above away). In terms of N/A supe (or any of the above) Vs Corsa GSi. Its bye bye GSi. The GSi will be OK to 40 or so but then after that they will all pull away consistently.
  20. Downhill, with a following wind:p
  21. Not quite sure what off sets mine are, but i had 235/35/19 fronts and 265/30/19 rears with no probs. I changed to a 295/30/19 rear tyre and and needed the arches rolling. Any wider and i believe you need a wide arch kit.
  22. Ok so we all know about the pre 2001 thing being cheaper etc. What would happen if i chucked a newer engine in my pre 2001 car or an older engine in my post 2001 car ? Would take the micky wouldent it, if i could put a high emmision engine from an post 2001 car into an older car and still get cheap tax and vica versa. Anyone know the answer ?
