  1. This is the best thread ive seen in ages. The post above is a classic, especially the bit about a "sky pixie". Funniest ive seen in ages. Anyway, heres my 2p and fuel for the fire. As a person who hasnt had religion (or lack of it) forced down my throat since birth (my dad doesnt believe and my mum is christian) i was able to make up my own mind. I listened to those that did believe and those that didnt and decided i dont believe. Also, as someone who chose a science as my higher education (Chemistry) my stance was even more firmly set down the "non believer " path. 1) Evolution does exist (Fact - described well by a previous post). 2) Some things cant be explained (YET). Time will tell if we become clever enough to work them out. 3) Religion has caused more wars over the years than anything else (enough said) 4) Ive never heard of a war involving non believers (YET) 5) in terms of Sharia law in the UK, i have not yet made up my mind. But thats because i dont know enough about it, and i dont think we should fear what we dont understand, so i will try and learn more before i make up my mind on the subject. 6) I agree that the problem with science vs religion is that you cant reason with the unreasonable. HOWEVER - the problem with that saying, is that both sides use it !!!!
  2. I didnt want to say, but yes it needs a good clean !! How dare you let such a nice car get so dirty. Where you work ? Ive never seen you or the car around there before.
  3. Think it was about 6:20pm. Std body work, big bore exhaust ?
  4. So did i in my N/A, but it was stationary:p
  5. Think these were standard on some cars. Mine has one with green lights in it, so the foor well glows up green against the shiney silver mats i have. Not sure if they all came in green like the rings around the drivers door key hole ? I will take a photo of mine tommorrow and post so i can see how it is fixed on.
  6. rubbish, needs at least 52 coats of wax. (Sorry if you didnt read the VXR detailing thread you wont understand)

    Audi R8

Was at the supermarket today. Took the supe, but parked right at the back of the car park in the empty bit over 2 spaces so it wouldnt get scratched. 3 or 4 other nice cars were there, including a nice A4 with huge brake, lowered with nice wheels, also a nice black R8. Finished the shopping, loaded the bags in to the supe and there were 2 blokes sat on the front of the R8 with the bonnet lifted (engine obviously in the back). Went over to be nosey as id had never seen one up close, and asked if i could have a look around. What a nice car they are. Massive brakes, nice wheels (295/30/19 at the back), fantastic interior, and best of all the view of the engine through the back window. The guy who owned it must of been loaded. He had already done 9000 miles in the R8 (only a few months old), and said he also had an RS4 2 years old that had done 90,000miles . God knows how he gets the time to drive so much, but he certainly seemed to get the most out of them saying that he had recently been abroad to several tracks to drive them. Anyway, everyone knows they look nice from a distance, but up close they are georgeous.
  8. Unless its a show car, get it used. Thats what they are for !!! It pains me when i want to go fishing and the wife needs her car as then i have to use the supe , but with TLC, lots and lots of plastic covers all taped together so as to perfectly fit over all the interior, i can even use my supe to lug around my fishing gear.

  14. Here we go :- A transit van has turned up at the olympics 4 weeks late. Olympic officials have opened up the van and it contains wooden posts and barbed wire. . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . Apparently its the Irish fencing team:D
  15. Wont you need to widen your arches even more for those size tyres ? Spotted the wording i once left in the "was it you" section. Nice Will pm you next time im oooop north at my parents. Its been ages since i was up there in the soop.
  16. As the title. Will 1999 rear shocks from a VVTi fit on a 1993 N/A supe. Are these the same, will they fit ? Will the upper rear suspension arm fit also ?
  17. I know where you are coming from here, although very few offer agreed value. All ask for your estimate of the value though and i think this is part of their working when providing a premium, so i agree that they should be somewhere near the price you valued it at at the time of quote (minus, wear & tear, age, jilage etc, unless bill etc prove otherwise). It does strike of double standards doesnt it
  18. Why same box but different fitment ?
  19. Well cant reply to my original post on the insurance subject as loads of posts between May and Sept seem to have dissapeared from the thread (Mods ?) Anyway, i was disappointed by my renewal quote as it had risen by over £100 and although i had had one claim in the year (vandal damage) i had 6 years protected no claims, and felt that it shouldnt have risen so much. However, after phoning around i managed to obtain a better quote which sky agreed to match (only one better quote however after lots and lots of phoning so Skys premium was competetive from the off). Many thanks for this, after reading through pages and pages of this thread it does seem that the policies and rates which sky offer really are about as competetive as can be obtained, and it certainly is an added bonus to membership of what is already an excellent club/forum. Despite the excellent premium however, the wife is still displeased with the price, and add the renewal premium to the upcoming service bills and shes not very happy at all (get rid of that car type of unhappy). If you can offer, a free meal for 2 with every policy in future that might just be about the best policy ever . Many thanks Brett
  20. pm rays the roof. He installed a 100 shot on his N/A and is officially the fastest N/A in the UK with a mid 13sec quarter mile which is faster than a lot of TTs. I looked into this briefly in the past and found the following 1) Not cost effective vs tt engine transplant 2) Insurance issues will arise 3) You will need a progressive controller for sure. Large amount of Nos at low revs is what kills engines. High amount at high revs is fine. 4) N/A engine is very strong, and should be up to a 100shot if progressive controller is used. 5) Use a wet kit not dry for N/As Hope that helps
  21. Yep, mega fast, but you have to admit that it looks crap.
