Caught a glimpse of a Black Supra tonight, waved as went past, think you saw me.
-
I have the exact same kit in my Supe. Its been in ages now with no probs. I think it livens up the interior just right, compared to what is a bit of a boring black interior as standard. I suppose you win some and lose some when it comes to kits like this though, they are probably mass produced in China or somewhere and theres bound to be a dodgy one gets through every now and again. Anyway, sounds like its all sorted out Ok in the end for you.

Hi, razza. Spotted this Supra in my works car park this morning, and recognised the plate. Not sure if the owner is a member, he works in the courts i think, as its a shared car park for the council and court. I`ve spoken to him before in the car park, its a stock TT i think.

Welcome to the club, looks like a nice car.

Do we have a final date yet ? Im interested if its 29th July

Yes this thread is getting a bit technical isnt it. In reply to Digsys post, im not sure that film thickness and viscosity are the same thing. In fact im sure that they are different (film thickness is similar to surface tension which is different for different fluids). Im pretty sure that the viscosities of 1w30 and 10w30 will be the same at a particular temperature, but im unsure what that temperature is. Best way to find out is using your computer program (assuming that film thickness is the same or similar which i dont think is the case). If you input the data for 10oC, and then write down the results and then repeat for 20oC, 30oC, 40oC etc etc, and then plot the graph manually or using excell, you will be able to see if the curve of the graph is linear and at what temperature the 2 lines cross.

Saw you this evening whilst in the wifes Zafira. Recognise the number plate but cant remember who you are.

Ok, as a qualified chemist with an honours degree in pure chemistry (whooo) and a background in viscosity and rheology measurement in going to step in here. Firstly its a fantastic write up but misses one key visual element to help describe the process. It needs a graph to best explain the effect. Basically, a 0w 40 oil is thinner at lower temp than a 5w 40 oil, but they are the same viscosity at 40oC. Therefore if you plot a graph of viscosity (thickness) against temperature you should get a steeper graph for the 0w 40 oil which eventually crosses/meets at 40oC. Unfortunatley i dont know how to import a graph from Microsoft excel into this thread, but hopefully the text clarifys a little more. It doesnt however answers Thorins point about smokey valve stem seals unless the smoke is occurring only (or more) at lower temperatures Thats as much as i know, and no, im not a geek just cos ive got a degree in Chemistry.

Black supra, Uk bonnet, J Spec brakes, pro alloys logo in gold on the back, cream leather seats. Followed you up oxford road and grovelands road this morning. Then spotted you again parked up in town on castle street (hence spotting the brakes). Looked a very clean car with some nice looking alloys.

Well ive beat you all with the crappest first car. Mine was an E reg fiat panda 1.0 Fire engine "special edition". It really was a pile of crap, god knows why it was called special edition. Anyone whos been in one will know just how bad they are. Smashed it up in the end which saved someone else from the same fate as me.

Air Conditioning - Whirling, Grating sound when on!
Supra-Brett replied to Sheefa's topic in mkiv Technical
mine is also much louder than any other aircon ive ever heard, but works fine. -
i was at Junc 11, so unless you can see 8 junctions away, it wasnt me !!

That is bad luck, we wont be seeing you at Reading jap meet on 12th either then ?

That looks like the same one that was in my N/A when i bought it. I had it removed as the idiot who fitted it was a right cowboy and didnt connect the wires correctly. When i took it to some one who knew what he was talking about (not, me, i dont get involved in electrical stuff), he said it was crap and installed a proper one which works fine. Where you live ? There are plenty of place in South east who do this type of stuff.

This sounds like an earthing issue. Most likley there is an earth connected to the handbrake cable that is shorting and causing the problems. I had similar problems once on a fiat panda (yes, a panda, my first car). I had a ground attached to the clutch and every time i changed gear and depressed clutch a different electrical item would switch on or off. It was mad, into first gear and lights would come on, into 2nd and horn would sound, into 3rd and lights would go off, etc etc. It was mad. Anyway, it might not be this at all, but sounded familiar to a problem that i had ( albeit in a different and far crapper motor).

Spotted a very clean looking white one today. Aftermarket alloys and front splitter, with an autobox, you were dropping you wife off at the Civic Centre. Ive seen you a few times before and waved but never had chance to say hi.

Spotted a Uk spec red supe on M4 eastbound today.

im also interested in an N/A T conversion. I was looking at kits from the states also and found many at about the $4000 mark, but was told that it would need many other parts in addition to the kit + fitting charges which would make it too expensive, and the advice was to sell the N/A and but a TT. To be honest i would like something a bit different so would prefer the N/A T route if the price is right. I was looking at the turbotechnics kits which came with the following :- T04E-60 Turbonetics Turbo Thermocoated Cast-Steel Turbo Manifold Thermocoated 3" Mandrel-Bent Downpipe Turbonetics Evolution 35mm Wastegate Spearco W.A.V.E Front-Mount Intercooler MF2 ERL 3D Map Injector Controller 440cc Lucas Fuel Injectors (2) Turbonetics Raptor Bypass Valve (BOV) 3 Bar Map Sensor K&N Air Filter (1) Case TS-1 Synthetic Turbo Oil Install Instructions & Wiring Diagrams All Necessary Hardware & Fittings im not technically minded so would need to get it installed at a garage, but it seems to me like this kit has all that required bar the instal and mapping. How much would it cost to get a kit like this installed ? and would i need any extra parts ? Looking at the £4.5K fully fitted price earlier on the thread im sure that it will end up coming to more than that, as £4.5K does seem a good price. Advice please

Hi I need more power. I bought an N/A and it was fine for a while, but now im bored and need more power. Twin Turbo cars are about twice as much as an N/A so i would be looking at spending an extra £4K to £5K to get one that looks like my lightly modded N/A, so I thought about NOS, but re-fills would be a nightmare. Ive looked on the web and can get a turbotechnics kit to bolt straight onto an N/A for about $4500 which i think is about £2250 any idea how much a good tuner would charge to fit it ? Has anyone else done this before (silly question) Advice required

Hi, i need the electric mirror control. How much ?
-
Hi, i have a silver one and use that road, but its not stock looking. I have a body kit and alloys. Havent seen your black one about though

I call it a front bumber lip, others call it a splitter. Ive tried to add a picture but to no avail. How do you add piccys to these threads ?

Hi all - Ive had my supra for about 6 months now. There is an anoying rattle in the rear passenger side quarter area. At first i thought it must be a dodgy bush on the suspension and this was backed up when i got an advisory notice in the MOT for the Upper rear suspension arm. I had the suspension arm fixed and the rattle was still there. Ive removed everything from the boot and its still there. Any ideas ? Ive seen an advert on E-bay for new lower and upper boot rubbers and they recon it does wonders for rattles. Do you think this is the problem ? Is this a common fault on supras ? Please put me out of my misery, the rattle is driving me mad.

Hi all - just joined the owners club. Had my supra for about 6 months, its only an N/A so not fast enough, but hopefully getting it nitrous`d soon (need to convince the wife its money well spent first)
