Hi, I am considering buying one of these. But to be honest mate the new Apexi NEO which apparently does everything the SAFC2 does and more besides is available for £179. I appreciate you probably paid a lot for the SAFC2 and don't want a loss on it but think you may struggle to get the £200. What's your bottom line?

Thanks for all your comments guys. Really haven't decided what to do yet, but will keep you informed. The AEM looks great, but it seems lots of people have managed to go NA-T without. I am not saying that is a good thing and that I don't need one, but researching all the options before I take the plunge. What about the stock MAP though, am still concerned about this? The AEM write up for the Supra assumes that it is going onto a TT and says that the stock sensors can be left, clearly on mine that is not going to be the case. And, do the Apexi units also have problems with the stock NA MAP sensor? Sorry if my questions come across as me being dumb, but just need to get it right in my head before I proceed to the next stage. Thanks again.

Thanks Chris, from what I have researched so far on this, I was under the impresssion (probably the wrong impression though it seems), that with the low amount of boost planned I could manage the fueling OK with the SAFC and the timing could be left as is? Also I should point out that I am not using a turbo but a eaton SC. Shane

My forced induction conversion will at last hopefully be a big step closer by the end of today. I was looking at buying a apexi neo to look after the fueling, but have also seen: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180116497237&rd=1&rd=1 and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260116861611&rd=1&rd=1 Would either of these do the job of keeping the fueling somwhere near right in the meantime? Also would either of these, or the neo work of with the stock MAP sensor? Or is it essential that I change it right away? Only planning to run a max boost of 0.4 bar on stock injectors and ECU. 94, J-spec I did read that one guy who has gone NA-T is using the stock NA ecu with no add on AFC, but cant see how that can be if the stock ecu and map sensor doesn't recognise positive manifold pressure. Any assistance gratefully received. Shane

Hi Rosie, Mine arrived last week, very pleased and thanks for your hard work. Shane:D

He's right, Poundland sell some brand for £1 and the active ingredient is 10mg dose of Cetirizine Hydrochloride, the same as Zirtec. Seem to work ok. Triludan used to be the best for me, but they stopped selling that!

They don't always creep, I can say this from experience. On Sunday I took mine for a test drive after replacing a core plug and water pump and had left a hose clip off. I looked down one minute and the gauge was at normal, literally seconds later the gauge had shot right off the scale. Luckily I dont seem to have any damage, hope this one is ok too.

No not seen it, bit will look out for it now you have told me. Mate, have you walked through London Victoria Station, or Luton town centre at night lately? Shit happens anywhere you care to look. Fact remains that if they want adventure, camping, outdoor stuff, and cheep beer Romania is tops in my opinion.
-
No, but tell me more?
-
If you are looking for real adventure, than Romania totally fits the bill. Getting there by land is quite good fun in itself. If you go North of Bucuresti towards Brasov, Sinia, then the mountains have wild bears and the scenery is breathtaking, the beer is cheep in Romania as are quite a lot of things. If you went to Baile Herculane which is in the SW of the country this has everthing, campsites, rivers, thermal baths and westernish hotels with nitespots and the beer is cheep there also! Close by this part of the country is the Danube where you can see Serbska from the banks and loads of other real beauty spots. If yiu have never been close to Eastern Europe before then you have to experience this place. Go with an open mind and you will be amazed. Only thing is, dont even consider taking the supe there, if the roads didn't kill it before it got knicked you would have done well. Lived and worked there for a while and it is an amazing country and every day is an adventure so long as you don't compare it too much with what you are probably used to.

OK, as it says used water pump from my 94 Mkiv NA, although I am reliably informed that the NA pump is exactly the same as the TT. It is an original Toyota part and has the black nylon type of impeller. It was working well until I removed it this weekend. The only reason I changed it was because I had already bought a brand new one by the time I had discovered all my water probs were nothing to do with the pump but the core plug in the back of the stat housing. Theres no noticable play in the front bearing and no leaks from the shaft of the snout vent. Fraction of the price of a new OEM one and less than half the price of a QH pattern replacment. Anyone??? Can post a photo if anyone wants to see it. Buyer can collect from, East Northants, Central London or Medway or pays postage.

Hey Rik, I sprayed the stock rims on my supra satin black but decided to leave the centres off as I think it looks better this way. Have a look at my garage, I think there is a picture of how they look now in there. I think your car looks great and if your'e happy with it that's the main thing.

I will do a sniff test next week and see if that shows any gasses in the coolant before I drain the water and put 4 life back in.

After a week of stress and hassle I finally got the car running again this afternoon, new cambelt, new water pump and new core plug that was the cause of all my trouble. Put it all back together again, let it run up to temperature and it was fine. Took it for a blast keeping my eye on temp, oil light etc and all seemed well, was really pleased and smug. But, about 3 miles from home and looked down the the temp gauge had suddenly, I mean suddenly because I had looked a few moments before, shot off scale. Pulled up imediately and as soon as I opened the bonnet spotted the schoolboy error. The thermostat end of the bottom hose was off. I had slipped the pipe back on and not put the clip back...ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Put it back on and just trickled a little water back in the system as I didn't want to shock it with it being so hot. Seemed ok so after a few minutes I carried on re-filling it. Man was it seriously hot or what. put what water i had with me in and then went back home taking it nice and gentle. I am guessing that the pressure built up and blew the hose clean off because it wasn't clipped, how bloody annoyed with myself am I? When I got back I let it cool a bit and then topped right up with water. Took it for another drive, nice and carefull and then as it all seemed ok took it for spirited drive. The temp gauge stayed at normal and every time I checked the heater it was blowing hot air, suggesting that the water was circulating through the head and not compressing. Did about 10 miles up and down through the gears driving hard and no problems showed up. Reckon I have done any lasting damage? I have checked the oil and that seems water free and looking in the rad seems oil free also.

Hi Chris, Fraid not, they were one of the places that didn't know what a core plug was!!!! Have to laff don't you, while the 12 year old kid was serving me his colleague, a 13 year old girl with more spots than a pizza said to him "this blokes wants a bulb for a scorpion, what make is that?". But credit where it's due, he realised that the guy had said scorpio...but he still didn't know what a core plug was. My youngest works at the same branch and is on the "bike hut team", it was only last week that I was showing him how to adjust his cones, but now he is advising the general public about their bikes. Anyhow, all is well now its off, finding a core plug is the least of my worries....I hope.

As the title says, almost a week later it's finally out! Made another tool and used this time used some old sockets as sleeves on the M8 bolts between the pulley and the underside of the tool. I ran a tap down the threads first and the bolts I used were case hardened bolts and manged to get them really tight, not only against the tool but also between the inner surface of the crank pulley and the underside of the tool. I used 2" steel angle for the tool. It took a 6foot long scaffold pole and the M8 bolts were wrecked afterwards, but it came undone. This morning I went into SIMS Toyota in Northampton and explained the problem I was having to a "Muckanic" and it turned out that they don't even have a tool themselves. he said he knew of a "special way" using the starter..........told him I had tried that, and then he said I had no alternative but to use a air tool. Told him I used one of them too. In fairness, he did lend me a puller to get the pulley off should I manage to get the bolt out, but in fact my pulley came off with just the smallest of taps with the rubber hammer. This incidentally is the same dealer who last week told me that they wouldn't change my water pump and cambelt because mine is an import and they dont do imports. I took the advice of you guys on board and blagged it by saying that I had spoken to Toyota UK and they were most concerned that I had been told that, and that I should go back to the dealer and if I still had no joy then to let them know. Once I told the bird on reception this speel she went and spoke to someone and they all became very helpful. Anyway it's off, the water pump is also off and as I suspected like Daston's the other week, my leak is coming from the small core plug at the rear of the stat housing. Next problem is finding one of them. Tried four places today and two of them didn't know what core plugs were, 1 didn't have one in stock the same size as I wanted, and the other said they don't stock them any more as "new cars don't use them". by this time I had had enough and told the guy this was rubbish but he was adament that new cars didn't use them, Muppet! Don't really want to bodge the core plug now, after all the effort I have gone to getting to this stage, can anyone suggest where I can get one from? Thanks for all the advice guys, got there in the end. Incidentally, I am very pleased that this has happened now rather than later as it appears that my cambelt was getting tired and needed changing anyhow. It's one of those things I had alsways thought since buying the car that I should do soon, but noticed on the outer edge that it looked like it had started to almost de-laminate.

Looks great, I love this look, in fact my Corsa van was looking like multi colour swap shop with all different coloured panels and I did this:- http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q220/shaneg7ewl/Mar18_29.jpg It cost next to nothing to do, I used the cheapest of kit and the roughest of paint, but it transformed it from a rough looking old van with different coloured body panels to what you see. The gun I used was a cheap £15 job from Lidls. I took a while to get the viscosity right to suit the gun, but other than that it was a doddle.

Yeh I guess it is a fair way from here...but desperate people do desperate things sometimes.

Wekk I guess it's what you are into... my eldest has a WRX and he wanted to go and said we should go together, he loved it but being a bit of an old duffer it didn't do much for me. Was a few interesting motors there, 2.0 l turbo corsa, the famous Supra and a few scoobys. I also heard there was a feature on the meet in this months Max power. maybe worth a look in that if you are interested. If you decide to go one Tuesday let me know and assuming my car is back on the road I will come over and have a chat as i am only a few minites away in irthlingbor'o. -

Hey, I went to some cruise/meet in Wellingborough the other night with my son and that supra was there. I was talking to some bloke (the only other one there over 17;) ) and I said that the body kit muist have cost a fortune. He replied the owner was a "Gay porn star" and had loads of money! True story. In fact I think at the time I put something in was it you asking if the owner was a member. -
Guys, am desperate to borrow, rent, beg or bend for a proper or close to proper crank pulley tool. Will travel a reasonable distance to collect/ return. I have tried Markssupra as suggessted previously, but so far have not had a reply. Anyone? Please..

Where abouts in Essex are you then?

We tried something very similar but used the underside of the cross member instead of the ground but that didn't work either. Looks like I am going to have to a) try and find a friendly dealer locally or b) jam the flywheel end and use a serious breaker. Called the Toyota dealer in Northampton and not only did they not want to undo the bolt they also told me they would not do it as a job because it is an import!
