  2. Thanks much appreciated Posted via Mobile Device
  3. Long story but will try to keep it as brief as I can. Mate has a C270cdi 2003 60K on the clock. It has developed a hot start problem. Basically when warm it just doesnt fire regardless of how much cranking it gets. Give it a wiff of bradex and instantly fires up. From cold it starts although he has noticed that since the hot start problem it takes a little more cranking and time to fire up. He took it to his local independant Merc guy who determined that he had a couple of heater plugs down and these were replaced. So this seemed to explain the slower cold start but not the hot start problem. The same garage said that as far as his diag gear would tell him the hot problem was down to the common rail losing pressure and thought it could be down to a gasket on fuel valve connected to the rail (stock fault). However it wasn't. They said then that it would have to go to a main dealer for the full diagnostic check. This was done and they said one of the injectors was not holding the pressure and that the cure was a new set of injectors as they are not supplied as singles and a new (and wait for this) inection pump and associated pipework at a total cost of around £1.4k:blink: They say that the original injectors have been superceded and now the replacements have to be fitted with the matching uprated pump and pipework. Does this sound right? I know nothing about mercs and don't pretend to, but I if the rail is losing pressure when hot why does it not start after cranking and presumably re-pressurising? Surely that is what happens when the next day when the engine is cold and it then starts or am I missing something? Also why does it start fine and more to the point carry on running when hot if it has ether sprayed up it? Is it like my old 6 series and does it wait for the engine to fire up on the fuel in the rail before the ECU powers up the pump maybe, but if that's the case why does it fire and tun from cold without the snort? I suggested he had the injectors removed and took them to a Bosch centre and had them serviced. He understandably is concerned that if he does this he could be at the same place in a few months as he hasn't gone ahead with the mod for new injectors and pump. Any ideas, suggestions welcome. Cheers.
  4. Looking for some advice on a fuel problem with a W203 C270CDI, anyone?
  5. Cheers Jamie, Next time I know I am going to have a few days off from work I will buy a pair and give them a go. Can't go wrong at that price really. The pair I bought from Suprapilot last winter are getting a bit lean and noticed the back is getting a bit twitchy in the wet again. Reckon for 100 quid it has to be worth it.
  6. Coincidence stumbing on this post. I was about to ask if anyone here had experience of Camskill. They list 245-50-16 for £54 which seems well cheap, although I am not sure if Nangkang tyres are any good. But was thinking for a reasonable bit of tread for the winter months £108 all in cant be bad. Just have to find out how much my local tyre place charges to fit and balance tyres not purchased through them.
  7. Can this be done? I keep finding conflicting views on this. Manged to get the Wii working with my WiFi connection and then downloaded the browser and that works. If I go to GH website it loads and tells me I need to download an adobe programe but when that starts it returns a "not supported" type of error.
  8. Hey leave Larry Grayson out of this, he's not even a member! Last edited by Pixelfill; Today at 12:42. Reason: Editted to make it a little less unpleasant. The sentiment remains though This is one of the most entertaining threads for ages...I think. Or maybe not. I thought this was a car forum, come on guys lets all be nice. Deep breaths and all that.

  11. Yeah it was me. I saw you looking over but was too late to acknowledge you. Was the first outing since having it re-sprayed:d:d:d. I was on my way to the GF's and just after I saw you I saw a nice black one.
  12. £18 In the words of the great Terry Tibbs "My final offer":D
  13. Pixelfill will be sorry to learn that it is now SOLD!! Went for £380 on fleabay and we had the cash in our hand within 20 mins of it ending[sHOCK][/sHOCK]
  14. All the pictures of the red corsa are of the same car, some taken in march that I had on my phone, and others (most) taken more recently. If you are interested I could sell you either car, but I could only sell you one, not both sorry.
  15. Oh well mate never mind, always goes like that eh. Astras are good old work houses too and make great every day runabouts. Now on Piston heads too: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/646483.htm Here are the pictures I took today:
  16. Bump. This is now available if anyone is interested. Has good set of 13s on it on standard steel rims as I have put the alloys on her new one. Will add some up to date photos later today, MOTd til March 19th and we have the V5.
  17. OK score is, it has Lexus lights on and they will stay, it has a pillar pod with LED afr gauge and digital rev counter, they will stay, it has red neons in the foot wells they will stay, it has recaro seat from a GSI something in the drivers position and the seat base/frame is from a van so it has a height adjustment too (changed it because Carmel reckoned old seat was hurting her back, this will stay, but I have the original seat & base/frame also. It has 2 pioneer 10 inch speakers on the parcel shelf, they will stay. Has a back box from a 16V something Corsa on it and that will stay, its a proper fit but has a much larger tail pipe. It has a cheapie induction kit and that will stay. Has after market wing mirrors with repeater lights and they will stay. CD player is coming out and a stock GM cass player going back. 15" alloys coming off and stock steels going on (13"). Will try to add some pics in the next day or so.. Oh and it had new plug leads, dizzy cap, plugs and oil and filter change just before we bought it. basically its a 400 quid corsa with a bit of rent and 8 moons test on it. Cost £460ish to insure her at 21 and no no claims as she just passed her test. OK added some pictures I took of the car in March when we first bought it. See first post, but note that these pics show damaged front bumper that I replaced and a stupid fat boy back box that I have since replaced and flogged on ebay . Its also had a bit of a polish since then and new number plates. The worst bit of bodywork is the ding in the front wing which I managed to push out a bit since the photo was taken. If anyone wants anymore up to date pics then let me know.
  18. Oh mate, sorry but no. I need to take of various bits to go on her new one (also a Corsa but a TD) and she needs it to get back and forth from Sleaford to my house. I wont get chance now to do all the swapping of wheels and stuff until Sunday as I am working away thursday through to saturday. Sorry mate but TBH it wont be available until about Monday next week, 4th of Aug.
  19. No I dont know why it says sold!!! Any mods able to get rid of the "sold"?
  20. My GF passed her test in March and to get her started I bought her a 1.2 Corsa from a family member it's a 94 Corsa B, 2 door petrol. I stuck a new MOT on it then and the only thing I had to get it through was replace the handbrake cable and rear fog light. Well a few months on she has decided she wants a diesel and we picked one up this weekend so in the next week or so the Corsa will be up for sale. It's tatty, tacky (with it's lexus lights, Pioneer 10" speakers in the parcel shelf and big back box) but it's cheap and so far reliable and she has been clocking up to 500 miles a week in it, thus the desire for a diesel. Taxed to the end of August and MOTd till March 09 Low tax and insurance and a great 1st car for someone. Looking for about £400, can provide photos if anyone interested, just PM me. Cheers, Shane
