  1. Mate, it's not that I don't want them - more a case of can't aford 'em right now:( Sods Law states that when I can afford them there are no good deals like this around LOL
  2. Wahey:) Good taste there dude LOL - I got the same one:)
  3. Just had another go at her - wiggled the ecu connections around and found that I hadn't put them back in quite right LOL. Turned the key and she started no problems at all Ran for about a minute - blipped the throttle and got a slight grating noise and she stopped :( Had a look and the cams are out of alignment again - new cam belt I gues but do I need a new tensioner as well??
  4. Hi all, still got problems with getting my '96 J-spec N/A to start:( The static timing is fine but I am getting three error codes;- 22 - water temp sensor - open or short circuit 24 - air intake sensor - open or short circuit 31 - air flow meter - open or short circuit There were no error codes at all before she 'died' and I can't find any lose connectors, broken wires etc. I swapped the ecu over briefly but that was before I had re-aligned the cams (inlet was about 8 teeth out!!) Any suggestions/ideas anyone please (been over 4 weeks now and I'm getting desperate) Cheers all:)
  5. I had one filled with those stainless steel scouring pad thingies (no rust ) on my GT4 and it certainly seemed to make a difference compared to 'stock' or empty. A fair bit more oil in the bottom of the can

    Sick Notes

Nos 18, 20 and 22 are probably actually completely correct (Tennessee after all LOL) My favorie one so far (from one of my students) is;- "I was late because the bus came on the other side of the road"
  7. Slight progress - the cms and crank are actually all lined up properly now (inlet was at 10 o'clock!!) but still she no worky??
  8. Love the wheels on that last one mate - any idea what they are??
  9. yeah. I lined the crank up to TDC and then did the dizzy and cams.
  10. Yeah! Cracked it now cheers - I had a look in some manual somewhere and it said to lean on it and push a pin in - no way was that happening LOL! Cams are all as they should be now and the car does at least sound like it wants to start but still no joy. Got some confusing error codes???
  11. The dash lights dimming is normal mate - cuts down the glare at night. Have you checked that you're getting power to the bulbs? Check the fog light relay too.
  12. Sorted - and you're right - a total bastard :)
  13. I'll give it a go - my father-in-law has a bench vice I can borrow
  14. Anyone have one please? I've taken mine out and can't seem to push it back in at all (even putting all my weight onto it).
  15. Ignore this post please - just discovered it's completely wrong LOL
  16. Looks like it was the cams!! The exhaust side was OK but the inlet side was sitting at about 10 o'clock!! Next question - how the hell do you compress the cam belt tensioner??? Mine seems totally solid (even putting all my bodyweight - 17st - didn't budge it).
  17. Unfortunately I meant the site and not the car:( I guessed it was a site specific problem as all my other favorites worked fine. The car, meanwhile, is a step closer to being sorted (I hope:Pling: ) - just been out fitting my UK spec brakes and checked the cam alignment - With the crank at TDC, the exhaust cam was spot-on but the inlet was sitting at around 10 O'clock:blink: Re-alligned everyting now and just need to sort out the cam belt tensioner - think it might be buggered:(
  18. ............and yes, I have fuel in the tank (3/4 full)
  19. Hi all, AS some of you may know, my car went kaput a couple of weeks ago with no apparent reason Well, I have finally managed to get out there this morning to check the fuel pump. I disconnected the banjo joint and the rear end of the fuel rail and cranked the engine - no fuel:Pling: I have disconnected the connector in the boot to se if there is wrigglies in the wire (I used the two larger wires - think they were white/black and blue/red) and got an earth off what I assume was the earth wire but no power from what I assume is the power wire. Does anyone have any ideas what I need to be checking now?? All the fuses in the engine bay compartment have been in, out, in, out and checked several times by me and others, so I'm still at a loss as to what's causing the problem. Any ideas/assistance gratefully received
  20. Dunno what happened but it's nice to be back /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_grin.gif
