  1. Thanks mig. I had nearly made my mind up and that's done it. Put another uk auto diff on and be done with it. Cheap too at only 440 from a scrappy. Can then look to upgrade at a later date to TRD if I choose, although the car has loads of grip with the r888's. Thanks all for your help everyone, saved me hours of research and messing about. Anyone want to buy a diff, hardly used....since blown to bits http://img.tapatalk.com/5f939751-894f-b081.jpg Pic of some of the bits that come with it for free
  2. Another question is, are the UK big auto diff's difference from J spec big auto diffs? Apart from the cooling?
  3. All over it, have tried to jet wash it off but you can still see it.... One really happy wife!!! This is the last bit of mechanical work I do on the car!! Have found a uk auto diff which is what I was running and loved that setup but want to consider a TRD diff, it's difficult to know! Does anyone know what is included with a TRD diff and how much they are?
  4. I WISH I had listened, was a massive effort to do on the driveway. I still need to rebuild the box but yeo, lots cheaper and more to the point, this means I should make the dragonball. So, the diff is out and its clear that the the back section and the insude needs replacing. Does anyone know how much the back section is and is it the same on all big diffs? Its clear that I have been running my UK Auto diff so I could obvously try to source another UK auto diff but I think that will be difficult to find. Can I buy just the internals of a TRD diff and put in mine?
  5. Right, I have decided I am going to take it off myself as I want to know what I need to order to replace it. Any advice? Or is it just a case of unbolt things until you can take it off?
  6. I think it happens with abusive driving. Much cheaper. Worryingly I bought a box from Japan but thankfully it fell through. Now I know how hard box's are to get, I am booking mine in for a rebuild as the synchro on 3rd is going.
  7. So those of you that spotted my previous thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?262986-Gearbox-Failure&highlight=gearbox+failure I pulled the car out the garage yesterday as I wanted to look at what was involved in removing the gearbox. For a laugh I called my wife out, told her I had fixed it and we to drive it forward to let it make the lovely crunching noise again...only this time, it left a load of fluid and metal on the floor. After disconneting the plug at the back and pulling more bits of metal out, I am left with the following (see pics). So I have a few questions: 1. Can you tell what diff I have in there? (For the record, I think it is a UK Spec auto diff) 2. How do you remove it? And is it a job for the driveway or is it a job for a garage? 3. What diffs can I put in to replace it?
  8. I have a positive development with the case. Will get a post up in a bit.
  9. Looks like I am need to get some help on this. Will post some pics in the morning. Have a good story for those who have followed this one.
  10. Need a diff please, what have you got and how much?
  11. I'm afraid it's not, a 6 speed is required. I am also looking for some rocking horse shit... Cash waiting
  12. Pretty much exactly that or sell this with a duff manual box. Only thing is, I don't have enough money to buy the thing can only just afford the blasted gear box.
  13. Using the tapatalk app so it doesn't tell. Although I then checked his profile but it was too late at that point
  14. Gutted... Looks like there is going to be place for sale. i cannot get a gearbox in time. Might dig out the manual and see if I can drop it this weekend to see if it actually is the box that's gone. Gutted. Tempted to come in my other car but it just won't be the same and don't know if work will let me take it. What is it with my luck and dragonballs
  15. A reminder really. 6 speed gearbox wanted, have cash will travel. Thanks
  16. It's not looking good guys, still no gearbox and only 10 weeks to go
  17. Mine was cream interior too. If I had known it was rare I wouldn't have given it away
  18. Good price, will be surprised if this doesn't sell quickly. I offered 30k for this car when it was first built shame it wasn't for sale for this price back then. And shame I can't afford anything like that anymore!
  19. Fitz, have you checked the basics? So often these things are something simple. I would strongly suggest that you run the car stationary until it get up to temp and start playing about with all the pipes. I am betting that you will find a split in 1. I think the high temps are a red herring. The reason for the high temps is that you are running the car once all the coolant has pissed out. Let us know how you get on. (start with the big hose at the front, the the one right at the back connected the the metal pipe) Need to top the rad up to the top and the expansion tank also. Just use water for the time being.
  20. Please do not believe anything like this. It is utter crap and they send these messages out on mass.
