    Driving abroad

Cheers guys. Looks like I better do some catching up on driving abroad - it's been about 10 years or so since I last went over there. I'll see what I can do about meeting up with one or two of you while we're there too.

    Driving abroad

We're taking the Supra on a 2 week holiday round Europe next month. What should I do to make the headlights dip to the correct side (or at least not dazzle everyone else)? In the old days I used to be able to mask off part of the beam pattern - do I still do that? If so, does anyone know which bit needs masking? Cheers, Ken
  3. No probs here. Gives me a good excuse NOT to go to Trax.
  4. I've never liked Conti's from way back - like 20 years or so...
  5. At least, I think that's what it was. Black one seen near Ebblake at around 12:15 today - I waved (sad ain't it).
  6. My new toy arrived yesterday. Mio 168 with 1GB SD card, 3-way cigar lighter adaptor but no mapping software - £260. Thanks for the TT5 links people - I now have it up and running with UK & Benelux maps, POI's for speed cameras and maps for Europe are on the way. Oh, and I downloaded the "celeb voices" for a bit of fun. Who's this then? "Err, at the next fuk'in roundabout, go straight on." and "You are starting on a journey - but you'll be back."
  7. LOL, don't tell Lin then - she'll have to sit in the back!
  8. School days? I was married with 2 kids when I got my Spectrum...
  9. Great idea. I was hoiping someone would suggest it soon. 1. WSB2 2. Ivan (Ken) (away for the 2 middle weeks of Sept)

    Drinkin Laws

At the moment, at least you know that all the pissheads are going to stop trawling back home by about midnight and you can finally get some shuteye. If everywhere's open till gawd-knows-when, they could be puking on your garden wall at all hours! Bad idea IMO.
  11. The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English". In the first year "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter. In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away. By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru. Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.
  12. Link worked here - eventually. Just refreshed the screen at the error message. LOL - neat tricks.
  13. Wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't been younger than my daughter! Bet they thought they'd caught some young boy racer and would teach him a lesson. They must have got a right shock - well you would too, wouldn't you: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ken.holland/images/Kensml.JPG http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ken.holland/Ferrari/Dsc00625.jpg LOL
  14. When I got stopped for the same thing (by 2 young girlies) they gave me a producer and a £30 fine! So you was lucky...
  15. Did you take advantage of the free upgrade to 2MB? I'm sure you noticed the "thin end of the wedge" clause which limited you to 1GB per day, whereas before we weren't limited at all... Saw it coming, but was hoping it wouldn't happen quite so soon. Still, as long as the limits are realistic I can live with it. Unfortunately, as long as their router is connected to the cable, it's downloading and uploading all the time.
  16. I have to say I agree with them about scanning. If JTuner can rip off a thread from there then they're surely allowed to scan the relevant page for everyone to see. Let's see JTuner make something of it if they do!
  17. AmbiPur in the pas air vent for me too. The "kill the smoke" variety...
  18. Looking forward to it here too. £4? Bargain!

Thought it might be you DB (in fact that was what I shouted as you turned off). Yes, I got stuck in the traffic going down to Branksome - but had to go that way as I had to pop in to see my Mum. Gave me a flutter when I saw the blue lights flashing - I was hoping you'd spotted him in time. As it was, he was only interested in his broken down mate up the road. He must have been right p****d off when he heard us a bit further up the road. I really must get used to the looks of another Supra in the mirrors so I can recognise it earlier. Not used to seeing anything come up quite so fast though...
  20. My old Mum makes them too to supplement her pension. Spends ages making them, only to sell them at stupidly low prices like £1.50 each! Mind you, they go like hot cakes whenever Lin or I take them into work...

Well, that was fun Just had a nice run back from Verwood to Branksome with this guy in his nice (loud) black Supe. What backbox is that fella? I want! Ken
  22. Basically - how Chav kids keep mistaking their 200's for other types of car.
  23. They said on TG that Va**hall are discontinuing the Monaro. Already?
