  1. Right - with the clocks forward this morning, it is still light outside beyond 7.30pm now. Soooooo....... weather permitting, who's up for a meet next week at the usual time and place - i.e. Wed, 6.30pm @ the Hand car wash place on the valley??? It's been a while!
  2. The road on the 3rd and 4th pics looks totally epic! Great looking car too mate - doesn't look out of place in the more 'modern' company you had
  3. There is an inner and outer part of the pulley and if the rubber between the two perishes enough, the inner one stays attached to the block via the bolt, but the outer one that the belt goes round just goes walkabout in your engine bay.
  4. We'll I've just found them on tcb parts for £198.57 + vat. Look in the engine parts section then select 'supra' and scroll down. Russian roulette with buying used if you ask me. Could last you years or could give up within weeks/months The damage caused by the crank pulley failing whilst driving will be more expensive than the cost of a new one! You seriously do not want one of them bouncing around the engine bay. Equally the pulley could find its way out of the bay and cause bodywork damage to the car or even others behind you!
  5. As above, try that test. If you do need a replacement, I'd stick with an OEM part though as they are harmonically balanced correctly; unless you're running big power and can afford something like a Titan crank pulley. No need to go to Toyota - try whifbitz on here or tcbparts.co.uk
  6. Will do my best mate. Heading down to Mt Tamborine for a bit and also up to Noosa but do have some time in and around the city. Where are you based exactly? Would love to attend a Supra meet whilst over there!
  7. Really, really fancy coming down for this. 11th July happens to be my 40th birthday too though and I'm not sure if I can get out of family expectations of having some sort of celebration up here with them all...
  8. Hey mate - welcome to the club, your car is looking awesome. I'm heading to Brisbane in a couple of weeks and if I get time was planning on dropping by your place to say hi.
  9. Would love this!! Have recently been thinking myself about whether a Supra only meet on a national level would work - I think it would be awesome at this venue How many rooms would we need to fill then for 'exclusive' use?
  10. Sounds like it is definitely the alternator mate
  11. Has anyone else got their tickets yet then or is it just me and the Hodgsons?
  12. I got all of mine from these guys - they do them individually and also in chrome too! http://www.custom-fasteners.co.uk/metric-bolts-c102x2384150 On a different note, do you know what slam panel that is? It has the cut out for the stock washer bottle and that's what I'd like.
  13. You do realise I don't do the retrimming don't you? I just send it off to a vehicle trimmer so that would need to be incorporated into the final cost.
  14. That's do-able so long as the leather is being replaced at the same time. Its just a plain weave carbon compared to the 2x2 twill that I use. From what I remember Jake, that wheel was £100 but I'm not certain as other bits were done at the same time and my receipt didn't break down the individual parts. That was using genuine Alcantara.
  15. Cheers for all the positive comments lads. It was a bit of a ball-ache to do to be honest due to the carbon weave needing to be wrapped in more than one direction! I'll need to finish this one before I can accurately give a price as to how much it would be, as the price would have to include having the leather on either side retrimmed too. There is no way I could take a wheel, skin just the top and bottom parts and be left with a decent finish between the carbon and the old leather - the process is just too messy and it would look crap. On the plus side, this gives you the option to have the rest trimmed in either a good leather, perforated leather or even Alcantara, along with choosing the thread colour. I had my current stock wheel retrimmed to match other interior bits like this:
  16. What's up with the boot lip like Jake? PM me some pics if you like but I do have a few things that need finishing off and new stuff still to start before I take on anything else.
  17. Not sure I'd want to mess with an expensive TRD wheel mate - would rather start with a bog standard one and coat that entirely in carbon. Plus I'm not actually sure whether I'd be able to match up the weaves in the different carbon.
  18. Hi all, Just thought I'd put up some pics of the latest project I've been working on. Tried to take some at each different phase but typically kept forgetting Anyway, I had a spare 3 spoke wheel lying about so thought I'd have a go at creating my own carbon wheel given how expensive they are! So first I cut off the leather from the 12 and 6 o'clock positions and masked off the rest of the wheel prior to putting on the base resin. Next up was to wrap the carbon on as carefully as possible, trying to protect the weave: At this point I forgot to take pics but basically the next stages consisted of putting the first layer of epoxy on, letting it harden off and then trimming it. Once trimmed I just kept building up the coats of resin until I'd reached a good depth. Next I needed to flatten it back until I was happy with the shape and feel of it - i.e. no lumps, bumps, runs etc. The whole thing was rubbed back with 320 grit paper and then a few more coats of resin applied before a final flat back with 600 grit (shown in pics below) Once I was happy with the look and feel, it went off to have the final top coat of UV resistant lacquer applied and this is how it stands now: There are a few pinholes in the lacquer that need filling by hand tomorrow, then it'll be sent off to have the other parts of the wheel (3 & 9 o'clock positions) retrimmed in a nice nappa leather with contrasting stitching. I'll update this thread with more progress pics.
  19. Count me in too Marc. I'm going to take a look up there this weekend and check out the size of the speed bumps - will report back here
