Yeah I was going to ring my insurance regardless. Like most things it's more ball ache and phone calls than it needs to be to get sorted. Footman James are next on the list

That was my main concern that it's not written off or cat d

The garage they want to use are very good any ways. My friend took his supra to have work done there and The work is very good

Have written agreements with the bodyshop too. With regards to prices (even if your not paying), timescales for the job being completed to a satisfactory standard, do they offer guarantees against the finish or sinkage of filler later down the line if the quarter is not replaced and just repaired. Paintwork condition is not always how it looks on day of collection but a few months later after curing fully.

You'll have a lot on your plate to do with this so just trying to advise. The more prepared you are from the start with this issue, it will save you a lot of headaches/potential costs to yourself further down the line if something goes wrong.

Unfortunately your insurance is going to go up as well now because of the accident.

Yeah they rang and said they'd pay costs either I get quotes from whom want to use. Or use a garage approved by them. They didn't want to use insurance either which I found strange but works in my benefit

That sounds dodgy as hell.

Get that agreement in writing, or I bet they back away from rapidly it when they find out how much it will cost. Strictly speaking, they should be notifying their insurance of any accidents regardless of whether there is a claim or not (like we all should, but obviously no one does). I would expect a company to operate more "by the book".

Doesn't sound doggy to me

I work at a dealership and there excess for an insurance claim is ridiculously high, its something like 10k..

So paying out under that is no point going though insurance

Yeah I know 2nd time in a year been involved in an accident that wasn't my fault! First' insurance company are absolute monkeys, I've spent the day going from person to person. It's now in the hands of my insurance and it's booked into the garage I want to use Monday for a quote/estimate. Then go from there I suppose

Ouch sorry to see this. Seems very strange a big company doesn't want to go through insurance

A lot of larger companies will self insure their fleet so its not that unusual.

It looks like a good £5k worth of damage repair and repaint there assuming no internal panel damage going by my last claim which was for a 60mph badger attack that cracked my bumper (no other body damage) and cost nearly £2k.

How would you force them to fix it if they deem it an uneconomical repair ? not exactly sure

how that works expecially on a car thats value isn't really easy to narrow down, unlike anything

more modern and stock where its in the Glass's guide or Cap guide etc

This will be even harder with a non specialist insurance comp who literally work by

the book, i'd be gathering adverts for similar spec cars to try to show its value as high as

possible. I did that to help get the agreed value i wanted on my RRC

Hence on my supra i used to get agreed value policies and the same on my restored RRC, then at

least theres no argument on that part of the equation

Yeah I've been doing that actually and I do have an agreed value policy with footman james. Just dealing with Gallagher Bassett who are first groups 'insurance repairs' is just a joke I get passed round from person to person. I'm getting an estimate tomorrow from the body shop I've previously used so hopefully it'll get sorted but I've got abortions feeling that they are going to reject the estimate...

Shouldn't your insurance comp be doing all the chasing of the third parties insurance ?

All the best with it
