no updates really as of yet, returned my piston rings to conceptua and I'm selling my gte pistons if anyone wants them with the rods? all I've done is remove the rings and clean the tops

I've got a new 2jz water pump/rear housing oem Toyota coming from conceptua instead of rings and i'll pay the difference

going to have a guy named dave yandell do the machine work to bottom end and he has new internal parts to use and told me to sell my current stuff

unfortunately no updates to post for the moment, having a bit of a rethink about what I'm doing with the car just now as I've got the chance to sell my r154 in a few months to a friend for good money, that will include my flywheel, clutch, propshaft etc

so I might be in the market for a v160 / 161 in the next few months depending if my r154 sells

that way i'll have a good transmission strong enough to take the 2jz power when drifting rather than risking blowing up my r154 and loosing any money I can get back on it just now

also the 2jz gte pistons have now been sold and are away to Lithuania from memory as I sent them a few weeks ago

going to be forging the block and going 86.5mm oversized pistons

all just money that's holding me back for now, need to save up some more and get my head down and put in the hours at work!

been parts collecting recently

new oem Toyota 2jz timing belt, tensioner and pulley

image

also bought a new Toyota crankshaft pulley, new Toyota 1jz head gasket kit and a few other bits :)

swapping over cylinder heads with my mate so I get some money back that I put into my head as I've decided now that I want to port out the cyl head and have as much flow/gains as possible,

so rather than risk marking a perfectly good skimmed head and stripping all the freshly ground in valves, I'd just do a px with him so we are both happy as he needs his head skimmed anyway

so, bought a new Toyota oem crank pulley and a new Toyota oem 1jz head gasket set, went for the 1j gasket as it fits the head better, I do have another 1j head gasket but It was almost as cheap to import a full gasket set from japan, as it was to buy a full set of new stem seals from Toyota uk

the head I had has now gone to someone else and I've received his head back plus some money in exchange to cover me for the work I had done + new steam seals

so the new head now will be going to a specialist for porting and polishing, multi angle valve seat job, hot tanked for cleaning, port matching, manifold and head gasket mating surfaces skimming, new valve guides and a few other things :) oh also all the shims set for the 264 cams I've got

so I'll get a head back that will probably flow just as much, if not more than a stock 2jz head

Nice update :) I went in to see Marcin a few weeks back. Think I'm going to get him to do some work for me too once funds have replenished!

What power are you looking for? 8:5:1 not a bit low? I'd have thought somewhere in the 9's would've been better unless you're going for 700+?

reason I've gone factory compression is I don't know how much smaller the 1jz head combustion area is yet so I was concerned I'd put that on and have a really high comp ratio

I was going to have it measured by the head shop to compare my size against a 2jz head and work out cr that way hopefully

also the head will be skimmed a fair bit and the block decked too so that'll take off a small amount too

new 'second hand' gearbox

image

bought some 800cc sard injectors

image

block parts, pic from marcin

image

2jz gte oil squirters machined into the ge block, also the oil feeds to match, block is now identical to the gte

image

image

image

cp forged pistons on stock ge rods, no need for forged rods with the power level's I'm aiming for since the stock rods can take up to 800+ hp

image

6 boost manifold, t3 twin scroll, two wastegate ports

image

image

two new turbo smart wastegates

image

factory style oil feed in the block

image

bit concerned that marcin hadn't decked the block, he said to just use a stanley blade and scrape the surface. don't really like that idea

Wonder why you opted for the stock rods as they are weaker than the stock pistons. So basically you left the weakest parts inside the engine.

image

I would fit some Eagle, or even no-name china rods instead of the stock rods.

not sure who's mapping the ecu master, I do have someone in mind but I'll have to wait and see, I've asked Mac motorsport for a base map but he said he will give me it when i'm at a turn key point with the build.

also the ge rods are now out of the block, I found some marks in the engine I wasn't too happy about as it's only been turned over by hand, I'd asked advice from a few different engine builders all saying the same thing, I've sent the engine down south to another builder, the rest of the story is not for forums/online reading, it's private as I don't agree with slagging people off online. I'm not going to talk sh*t online about previous parts suppliers/engine builders etc so I don't want people involved/bad mouthing anyone. just updating my build thread as I go :)

Head is done,

all chambers balanced

opened up all ports to gasket match/opened up inside for maximium flow

new Toyota oem valve stem seals

multi angle valve seat cut job

brian crower 264 cams shimmed in

brian crower titanium valve retainers and springs fitted

manifold faces skimmed

head face skimmed

right, an update, not going into this on the forum as I don't name call online and talk bad about people behind their backs as that is not fair! Couldn't agree with previous builder on some issues I had with the block so I decided to start a fresh. scoring in the bores that was not there before, a non flat gasket surface, some chips on the faces of the new bearings i'd found when removing piston to rehone a cylinder, not happy at all.

I sold the cp pistons and ge rods etc and I've started from scratch, also sold the turbo because the brand new one i'd bought from him wasn't actually brand new, yes eventually i'd got a new from him when i handed back the rebuilt one, but after speaking with other tuners they all said that it's a turbo fit for a 4 cylinder honda, not a 2jz!

I don't want to be seen bad mouthing anyone here as I have been previously accused when he'd found someone else doing it on this forum and I've nothing to do with it.

Block is now down south at another engine building shop, the cylinders have been .5mm oversized to remove scoring and are like brand new now!

basically i'm looking at a 3 grand rebuild bill

ZRP Forged H Beam Rods

Wossner 86.5mm 8:5:1 Ratio Comp Pistons

Crank back from balancing against all new parts inc my clutch and flywheel assembly

block after having 3 days in the acid/descale tanks

image

image

oversized .5mm cylidner work done, now decking the surface

image

image

Look at the cylinder finish!

image

image

block painted

image

rings gapped

image

crank in

image

line up

image

my new toyota gte oil pump on with new o rings and it was ported out inside for flow restriction issues that can come with stock pumps

image

now i'm just waiting for the core plugs to arrive with him on monday then the engine's coming my way :D

as for the next big, turbo choice, i think i'll be going GTX3582R with the T3 Twin scroll exh housing as garret seem to be the only ones that offer twin scroll

borg warner and precision both don't list it in the turbo model's i like, so not to worry, a gtx will be fun :D

at the moment, It's looking like the block will be here next week, so if all goes well and my head gasket will keep me within comp ratio I need, then i'll have the engine built together next weekend :D

Seeing as you have fitted the oil Squiters and drilled/tapped for turbo oil feed I'm sure you are aware but that oil gallery is not connected to the opposite side on GE blocks so no oil can get into that gallery without having to machine/drill a passage across the block to join the oil galleries:)

well, I think the squirters and the turbo oil feed would come off the same channel/oil passage so surely if I get oil through the turbo oil feed, it would go through the squirters too ?

I'd say marcin had the block done right as he does the ge-gte conversions all the time he said.

head is now down at the machine shop having a little more taken off as due to going .5mm oversize on the bores, the compression ratio lowered due to the larger cc in the chambers

the head needs to have 40cc per cylinder in the head to allow for an 8:5:1 ratio

currently it has 43cc so working out around 9thou per cc meaning another 27 thou to be removed from the head

can't wait to get it back now as I've got everything lined up and ready to go :D

bought a gtx3582r

4" anti surge intake

2.5" out

.83 t3 divided exhaust housing

3" vband exit

it came from universal turbo's

formally known as CR turbos,

image

image

image

image

had to take the cams, shims and buckets out the head (kept in order) as the head needs skimmed now a little more

this is to let the compression come back to 8:5:1 as the oversized bore has increased the total cc in the cylinders

the head is now in a machine shop in a que of jobs to be done

image

block arrived home, i'm super happy with it

you can also see written on the piston is 20cc, the stock pistons are 9cc! hence the compression change so head work is needed as i'm not reducing the gasket thickness as the stock 1.2mm 1jz head gasket works really well

image

got the cam covers powdercoated electric blue with metalic flakes :D these are insane in the sun!

image

also have started tidying up little bits in prep for assembling the engine

image

literarly waiting on the head to have some more taken off then it'll be build/checking time as i need to make sure i have enough piston to valve clearance etc :D

oh also invested in a Link g4 engine management package :D
