Looks pretty tidy, especially inside. Nice one, Martin. :)

Scary just how cheap they're becoming though...

to be fair jo, i dont think the guy knew the true value of the car with or without a naffed engine... he just wanted rid i think. Id say even with the knackered engine its still worth about 2k in the condition its in. Naturaly theres a few lil rough patches but apart from that shes clean as a whistle. Just needs some TLC now :D

Just thought id pop a little up date in!

Me and mike had a few hours on her yesterday. Shoved the camera down the bore on number 6, engine is definatly naffed. Piston is a mess and a valve is in bits on top of it and theres oil alover the subframe and box. Engines 80% ready to come out now though, just got to remove the rest of the loom, exhaust, drain the and detach the transmission and shes ready for out :) BUT whilst removing the front bumper have found some hidden damage, nout serious but she does need a new crash bar and headlamp panel support. On another note the starter button works :D

Cant believe the noise it made when we fired it up, Martin can also confirm the start/stop button does not stop it :D blind panic to turn it off it looked to me.

Dont get where the oil is coming from though. Cutting the crash bar off was fun.Did it job by the looks of it.

BUMP

bit of an update! engine and box are ready for lifting out... exhaust needs some 'modification' to remove it but and this is a big BUT we have found the cause of engine failure and the reason why the intake side of the engine is flooded in oil......

Ill upload the pics but i will say, i dont think ANY NA owner has managed this before

BINGO! id say a spot of hardcorism!! needless to say its had a bit of a hard life but she will be back to full strength when i find a bloody 5 speed !

What mileage has it done??

I don't think you will find many cars that haven't been driven hard at some point. Mine has been given some welly at times but it generally cruises on the motorway.

Second gear up to fourth tends to be a bit lively as you try to force some performance out of it.....:D

its done bout 79k (still in KMs) but even so it would take alot to snap rod and throw it through the block... the timing is bang on where it should be even though that wouldnt effect the drivetrain so im putting it down to poor maintance and abuse BUT bare in mind it is an auto, trying to force performance out of 1 of them is a tough task with lack of power, so i guess the only way to get it going is to rag it :D

Nasty. I threw a conrod and smashed the block. Bearing went I believe and ding dand do a little fire on the side of the M54:blink:

We ended up having to use an angle grinder to remove the con rod (it was fused to the block) in order to get the engine out. The cranck wouldn't turn being an auto. Aweful job.

The job is coming along nicely though mate:) But I bet mike's distracted now he has his wheels:D
