yes we said that just then ... the Supra is the most beautifully designed car ever. Why wouldn't you let it influence new design? It's so timeless.

Nice car, gutless exhaust note as standard though. I bet it won't be long until all the big aftermarket parts manufacturers are making exhausts for them (even though Nissan claim that the car only likes its factory one)

Nissan have set one hell of a benchmark.

dont see it myself. Its still styled like a brick, the interior is pure Datsun and if the gearbox and engine are 'matched' as he said then you are in deep poo if you blow either.

JB

That's the bit that stuck in my head when he said it only likes the Gearbox designed for the specific Engine. So what happens then when you have a Gearbox failure in several years :search:

As i said in the top gear thread.

Im having flash backs to being a 16 year old and seeing a supra "one day i will have one" moments. Sad thing is by the time i can afford one the petrol will have ran out.

By the time you can afford one it'll be the car du jour of future-chavs who will delight in thinking they can better Nissan's design and technology by hanging acres of plastic off of it, putting bigger wheels on and all sorts of other 'interesting' ideas.

It'll also be quicker than whatever are the most up-to-date, powerful cars of the time.

Give me the Alfa any day of the week. The extra £53k would be well spent IMO. If you want a track car, buy something quick on track. If you want a road car, buy something that works well on the road.

The GTR for me is something and nothing in equal measures. It indicates a bucketload of compromise with a barrowload of technology but still doesn't manage to be faster than the Corvette. That is a big problem for me because the time will always come where you wish you'd bought something else.

Until a tuning company does something formidable with the GTR I'll stick with my old, Japanese fun-mobiles thank you very much :)
