Yep I thought they wouldn't be cheap.

I was talking to my mate who works at RB motorsport, and he said he wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't much change (£'s) from a proper WRC car to that thing.

Awesome car.

Bloody `ell, seeing as a half decent, not TOO old WRC car is around the £300K mark upwards, that's a very expensive way to go not very fast ;)

I dont know - but I'd make sure they have a good insurance policy :)

Edit:

Came across an interesting article showing the testing process of CF wheels, and the process involved. The articles is based on CF wheels for freight trailers, but Im sure CF wheels for cars undergo similar testing/production methods.

not to forget Roles Royce's cock up with carbon fiber jet engines though ;)

There was that but a set of car wheels wont have to withstand the massive centrifugal forces that a jet engine will provide over the many hours of service or will car wheels have FOD impact at 200mph+ ;);)

Airbus doesn't have to contend with curbs, tyre fitting machines and vandals. Their loadings are over a greater area, with the exception of bird strikes which the air industry do make a big deal about.

True however they do have to contest with vandal baggage handlers and caterers who are always driving in to the aircraft

The full carbon wheels through would have most probably be replaced if you did hit a curb as it would destroy them, and I cant imagine there being a composite repair for car wheels out there...

i think i can safely say my car wheels will suffer all the same forces that a jet engine would:tongue:
