  1. you'd be looking at about £80 per hour for specialist labour (e.g. a Tein dealer / garage) and I guess £40 for a top mount. I guess one shock would take em about an hour or less so probably £120 tops.
  2. creaking - sounds odd. check your body kit (if it has one) to ensure it isnt rubbing together. check our exhaust fitment (if its after market) by giving it a gentle kick and listen. strip out all the useless plastic gubbins out the boot and remove spare tyre and all other parts. also check your spoiler isnt moving about. thats what id do to discover the source of a noise.
  3. my trd rear spolier rattles when waiting at lights cos a pop screw fell out. during cold weather i think ice mustve frozen it solid cos it didnt rattle - so when it unfroze the rattle came back.
  4. ta much bit pricey for 2 bits of plastic no?
  5. er i had it jacked up from the back axle (in the middle) and supported by a jack one one side for added safety. so yep both sides were up and took off one drop link so the anti roll bar would allow the wishbone to be levered down to increase the length so the strut could be removed.
  6. couldnt see any on their webby sites
  7. job done! it took 4 hours trying to get the Tein one off the rear offside but with brute force (helped by long steel rod to force the wheel assembly down) it was possible even without removing calipers (although working room would be enhanced if removed - couldnt turn the bolts anyway - but be careful if using WD40 near your brakes tho). took 1.5 hours getting the bilstein on. i had to use spring compressors getting the jap spec bilsteins on but didnt really need em to remove the Teins. once the rear offside was done, it took only 1 hour to do the other side (remove and replace). the ride now feels great - bump free supra now. next weekend i'll do the fronts and make the car feel so smooth!
  8. aye to that. the dirt coming over by all the 'specialists' now looks great to joe bloggs - it makes this market all the more difficult unless the buyer is informed.
  9. aye i got all depressed and felt sorry for myself watching it sit there without a driver so cried it into the 12s. i removed it from sale because i was being unrealistic about how long it takes to sell a car and was almost giving it away in my determination to sell before xmas. very glad i kept it now!!! time to drink beer people!!! my warm up coffee is gettin cold! happy new year!
  10. oh the 98 - yup i had it on in the 12s but that was when i couldnt insure it and the tyres and alloys were shot, foggy hanging off back, and some other nasties that would put buyers off. since then ive been to town on the car and seriously improved it and got insurance!!! had new dunlops on front, refurbed and powder coated all the alloys, put razo parts in the interior, ripped out all the crap and subtley positioned the neons, integrated the fog, removed all the rattles, bought uk road friendly shocks and am now fitting em, plan to paint and decal the calipers, and have now given new tax - this baby is soo nice now!
  11. hurrah! cheers. on to the beers chaps!
  12. i think we all look for good deals but when buying big bhp cars and where the seller commands a premium for the car - word of mouth and reputation is everything. you get what you pay for.
  13. cheers. but did you guys take the calipers off too?
  14. aye to that! seriously tho - i went to a 'specialist' trader who was telling me that he had a big single 94 sitting in his yard for about 7k. he is so specialist he tells me 'it must be pushing 450bhp' ...'and it has all these pipe things in there'... personally i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole cos i bet its been done by a pig and the trader has no clue what he's selling. i'd pay for a car with big bhp if it was done properly by a tuning house / expert and the seller knows what is going on in the car. there are sooo many bad imports out there now.
  15. eheh thanks guys! happy new year!
  16. Help!!! I have tried changing my rear shocks today and got really stuck - now its dark I have to leave it jacked up over night I have Tein Circuit Master Type RAs and am trying to bung on some bilsteins. I jacked the car up, undid the 3 securing bolts accessed from the boot, then undid the bottom bolt secured to the wishbone, and then compressed the springs. The assembly still didnt come out so I disconnected the drop link to lower the wishbone a little more. There still isnt enough room! Any ideas where I'm going wrong here cos Im well done for at the mo? Thanks, D
  17. er k will change exhaust description. the upgrade i mention - i read this on the web when it listed the late model improvements (I'm trying to find the link again). it is to do with preventing too much over-rev hitting the engine so involves the gearbox and engine working more nicely together.
  18. i know i know! was stressing me out having that horrid thing ruining the reputation of supras everywhere so it had to go! i sorted the interior too but i cant fit the photo onto the forum
  19. eheh thanks but methinks he's after a standard model. dont think my soop would feel dressed without mr abflug.
  20. rob - quite right. that used to be a loophole to get into the UK - import to ireland and then boat across to England. in that way the importer could sell to domestic market without spending the GBP650 + VAT to convert to UK Vehicle Inspectorate requirements.
  21. now im 26.5 but i had no NCB (never been main driver) and 3 points so my quotes were coming out at 4.5k! for some reason insurers have been quoting really well lately as a named driver - RAC direct came out with 650 which is awesome! (SDP only fully comp and massive excess mind).
  22. hi, anyone know how or where to get these in black for a facelift headlight? i had some on my imported soop but they look all chipped and horrid soe fancied getting hold of some new ones. thanks, D
  23. ta chaps - tryin to fit OEM shocks and paint/decal calipers but the weather is so rank i'll freeze in a second!
  24. Hi, My soop is up for grabs although I have finally managed to get it insured fully comp (thanks Mr RAC) so I am driving it stress free at the mo. Under no pressure to sell but if the right offer comes in I may consider - px also possibility. Some basic info: black; 64k miles; MOT May 06; Taxed; Cat 1 Alarm/Immob; ESVA cert; Grade 4 proof (non-accidented & good condition import) Late model refinements: VVTi Twin Turbo engine; facelift lights; added internal gauge; REAS shocks; rare and exceptional Tiptronic semi-auto; upgraded engine to gearbox management. Performance mods: Blitz air induction; HKS Super Drager exhaust; Tein Circuit Master Type RA coilovers (soon to be Bilsteins); newly refurbished (anthracite) 18" Rays Volk Racing Alloys with brand new Dunlop SP sports 245/40/ZR18 on fronts and Bridgestone Potenzas on rear. Exterior: Abflug front wing; TRD rear spoiler; side skirts and rear spats; rear privacy glass; clear side repeaters (orange blobs on pic soon to be removed) Interior: Razo knob; handbrake handle/gaiter; dragon mats; switch on/off subtle red neons (passenger/driver footwell); new Kenwood CD/minidisc + radio band expander Quality docs: 4 point wheel alignment; Tein assessment of suspension (good as new); grade 4 proof; V5; ESVA cert Unfortunately my picture sizes of the interior exceed the limit allowed on this forum. I can email more pics to whoever requires. OEM shocks can be bunged on if need be but would encourage use of the top spec'd Teins especially if your roads are good. Couple of marks on the black paintwork as expected. Offers via PM only Thanks, David (07886001454)
