    OEM Shocks

hi, i have 2 front KYBs (black) coilovers and 2 rear bilsteins (yellow) - now all i need is either: a) 2 rear black KYBs OR b) 2 front yellow bilsteins (both including upper mount of course) thanks, D
  4. do these fit the facelift imports?
  5. yup i did try and import a 98 without appreciating the rules had changed. i luckily managed after 8 months of research and stress to find a way to get it out of port. i couldnt do it again as it involved someone doing me a favour. im not sure about the 10 year rule applying - i understood the 1997 date as final now. basically the model report needed for 97s onwards is so difficult to achieve it'd be a waste £3k trying. the emissions for the twin turbos would give you absolutely no hope. an exhaust made of catalyst wouldnt be enough to meet the newer emission standards.
  6. no more late models coming in! 97 onwards are not coming to the UK. gotta agree with Todd. it seriously annoys me when people pi*s and moan about other peoples supras on their thread. if you dont like the colour red, well then that clearly explains why you happen to drive a silver soop (get it!?!). and if you like your manual and i drive a semi-auto, well then clearly i'd value a well looked after semi-auto over and above your manual - its about taste. if there was one model car out there that everyone liked to the same extent, then they'd all look and be the same. i took mine off of here because of the 'harbingers of doom' implanting negative emotions on the thread and going on about how awful the market is. autotrader is working kinda well but at this time of year, it is best to re-advertise in new year.
  7. nice. i had an rx8 pull alongside a nod in approval. cant beat the attention. 2 chicks hung off my nearside rear for bit but then passed me with jaws open...nice.
  8. thats pretty odd cos bilsteins are well good shocks. i reckon you should have a specialist check em over.

correcto! stupid import rules that came in during April 04 - really has killed alot of import businesses!
  12. yea i did think about the fact the car was being broke! well if u reckon it'll be a prob then i'll put em on sale - i think they are the front two bilsteins and they are with a 1 month warranty. i'll ask the man above for his kybs after all to complete the set. pm if interested with offer.
  13. ok i know - the fronts are like the pic above (have a hole at the bottom of the strut), whereas rears are open (like a fork but with the middle pointy bit missing).
  14. theres not much to call between all the online retailers. the real bargains are available for the patient ppl who check out ebay. i got 2 premium dunlops brand new for only £102! they retail £150 each normally but because they got fed up looking at em they put em on ebay no reserve and i happened to be the only one after that size at the time!
  15. i thought this too but they came off another soop like this so think it should be ok. will have to see tho!
  16. my black top spec soop on Need for Speed has an aggressive carbon bonnet - cant beat a black beast boys n girls. yea i have eyelids from Japan but they have got paint chips on em so never re-stuck em on!
  17. ok i've bought KYBs x2 (black) and Bilsteins x2 (yellow) from a soop getting broke...trouble is, I've forgotten which came off the front and which ones were off the back. anyone know what to look for? ta, D
  18. rather than do it yerself - take it to a pro refurber - you'll pay a little for it but you will save yourself ALOT of stress and worry by paying the experts to get it right first time. take it from someone that has tried amateur paint jobs in the past!
  19. i read a review on the KYBs (gas n adjustable). they look v affordable so i looked into em. the reviews suggest that if the user lowers them too much they go pop right away but keeping them at recommended levels and they last a good while and perform nicely. think they are on the review centre . com or sommit.
  20. i dont think the Toyota KYB or Toyota Bilsteins were adjustable in standard spec. Alex - are you sure the KYBs are not standard jap spec - i thought there was an option between KYB or Bilsteins out there?
  21. think some had bilsteins (yellow) and some had KYBs (black). im looking at going UK road friendly by sticking some KYBs on! my teins are sweet but i need the cash so will sell em on methinks. the darn thudding in my car is down to worn/missing boot rubbers methinks!
  22. thanks - but you can get em refurbed i guess. if they feel fine then i guess they arent in need of attention tho?
  23. Hi, anyone running standard setup Toyota KYBs (black strut) - how do they feel over UK roads? anyone know the mileage at which these mess up too? Thanks, D
  24. no leaks on my shocks - I had Tein check em out and they reckon they're barely run in. im gonna check the boot when i get it back from the alloy refurber. if that doesnt work i might spend the money and change the shocks. have you any experience running on Toyota KYBs (the jap stock struts and springs)?
