  1. a date for the diaries if anyone fancies it. this is a straightliners event which will be for cars & bikes 1/4 miles only, no top speed runs on this occasion
  2. agreed - presume this has to be booked quite far in advance it was my favourite event of last year

    Matt H

sorry to hear this Matt, you know where i am if i can help at all
  12. are you anywhere near Chiswick Jamie? and have you still got the box etc for it? just wondered if you could get to where my sister lives. she's heading up here for Christmas & i could be watching tv in bed in style by Boxing Day
  13. you need to stop building engines with no customer lined up yet and get me booked in for my install
  14. only just read this & Matt rang last night to say did you go sorry didn't make this one
  15. thanks for all the responses guys - i ended up visiting Practical Hi-Fi in my lunch the other day & came home with the Pioneer PDP-428XD after seeing the 50" version in action & seeing what hi-fi's review etc. most pleased with it
  16. fack! http://www.plasma-lcd-facts.co.uk/home/ i've been converted i think lol! *runs off to look at plasma deals*
  17. why plasma? i've always noticed the motion blur straight away on football & movies with the plasmas and i was under the impression it was just the quality of black that was what the LCDs lacked in comparison, which the Samsung M86/M87 was pretty good at nice one mate, i'd seen their price which was a bit cheaper but wasn't confident on a name i'd not used before what's a H360? i'm probably about 2-2.5 metres away so i'm starting to think the 52 is too big now i've always disliked the 100hz picture but not seen one going in HD i don't think, unless the LE40F86BD was running it & i didn't notice. Can you switch off the 100hz bit?
  18. aye i think it's the one to go for - just looking at each of the others on display they just stand out to me. i've got a Sony 42" rear projection at the mo so i imagine the picture quality will be a massive jump others i've been looking at for anyone who's still shopping around are (prices were just the Currys prices, definitely NOT the cheapest available!): Philips 42" lcd, 42PFL7962, 1299.99 Samsung 40" lcd, LE40F86BD, 1399.99 Samsung 50" plasma, PS50Q96HD, 1299.99 Samsung 46" lcd LE46M86BD, 1549.99
  19. cheers chaps how do they seem to fair with non-HD feeds, e.g. normal Sky etc? the 52 is massive but it looks sooo nice
  20. i'd heard something about some electrical problems with it, but not sure so don't quote me or anything! it was in Hyper Sports & Racing for a little while getting sorted i think does seem fairly cheap but not too far off the mark i would imagine if it's not particularly low mileage & not many people would go for a bright yellow veilside maybe? you've got to get up close i guess to see if there's any other bits that need attention
  21. i'm specifically finding it hard to resist this one in particular http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=088715&category_oid=# that's on display in our local Currys, but in general the Samsungs just seem to stand out massively in comparison to a lot of others. 52" seems a little extravagant but but they also have a 46" & 40" variant too which seem just as nice. but the 52" would also look sooo nice with the 360 & the PS3 apparently the only difference between the M86 & the M87 is a little metal strip along the bottom, i.e. a cosmetic difference, but you need to make sure that the firmware is up to date on them to get the latest glitch free functionality
