You are correct, there is a difference between the j-spec and UK AC dash panel, as I found out years ago when I tried to fit a j-spec panel into my UK spec. The lip around the headunit is deeper (thicker) on the UK spec, so a jspec panel left a gap all around the headunit, as the UK headunit cage must sit further back. We couldn't figure out why it wouldn't fit correctly unit we noticed the different part numbers stamped on the back of each panel were different. I then sourced a UK panel and no more gap around the headunit. I hope that helps.

I'd get that seal changed for a genuine Toyota seal if I was you. People have trouble with those type, letting water past, blowing out at the top etc...

Yes you have wired it up correctly, just one wire, and it sounds the horn when it's pulled to ground. So I'd say you have a point in the circuit that is touching the body of the car and grounding mate. Bell it out and re-check all the wiring for the horn circuit.

Are you saying the airbag plug won't fit? if so, you will need the adaptor, part number: 09082 - 00760

But have you fitted the relay mod in place?

I'm pretty sure Swampy meant the fuel pump ecu at the rear of the car, and not as you thought what engine management ECU you have fitted, two separate things mate, and the fuel pump ecu is a source of problems if you have fitted a larger pump.
