  1. Later dude. Have a nice life.
  2. He wasn't re-enacting the movie Speed, was he? "Sorry officer, I can't slow down or my engine will blow up..."
  3. Woot! Got the job at Jacobs I start on the 3rd May back in Westlakes on slightly better money plus expenses, so I'll be about £120 a week better off. Normal service can be resumed.

    Failed MOT

All done and passed. Cheers to Mr. Whiffin for having some OEM wishbones in stock and getting then sent out next day courier (the parts turned up 15 mins after I hassled you about them ).
  5. Don't like turtle's heads though.
  6. But what sort of biscuit would he be? I think I'd be a hobnob.

    New Toy

lol, yeah, the last but one owner had it as a winter hack, then my flatmate bought it for when he passed his pt2, but ran out of money and just left it stood in his mum's drive. I just want the thing running and couldn't be arsed stripping it down any further. I'll run it through summer, then strip it completely and get the frame and engine cleaned & painted black too. If the local auto supplies had had a can of orange paint yesterday, the vents and intake tubes on the front would have been painted orange too.

Ah, chain's not on - the tensioners were rusted to buggery and one sheared when we tried to get it off. It'll be a trip to the breakers tomorrow.

Nearly there. Just need to get some new chain tensioners and bleed the coolant and we're done. Oh yeah, the seat will be getting wrapped in orange (club colours)
  12. Are they the Japanese tribute band?

    Failed MOT

Aye, sucks to be me, lol. My dad can do the brake line with me (and any bushes that may need sorting too, so I'm okay in that respect. I just know how expensive it was last time I priced up a full set of bushes as it's been on my list of things to do for a while now, but I've not had a spare grand knocking around to do it.

    Failed MOT

Miserable sods. Failed on: Rear fog tell-tale not working. I knew (and had forgotten) about that - my rear fog switch went goosed, so as a quick fix we just wired them into the fron fogs on the stalk, then forgot to either fit a new switch or a tell-tale. O/S rear fog light not working. Worked fine when I tried it after. N/S front sidelight out. Yes it was. Changed the bulb. Both front to rear brake lines excessively corroded. Bugger, so they are. CO2 emissions high. Damn. Probably had been left on the forecourt too long and not run long enough before the test as it has always passed in the past. N/S front brake binding. Yep it was. Stripped, freed off and greased, works again now. Front brakes imbalanced. Yep, they would be. Hopefully not now. N/S rear arb linkage has excessive play in ball-joint. Maybe 1mm play, but fair enough. My dad reckons he should be able to tweak that. N/S & O/S outer rear upper suspension arms have excessive play in a pin/bush. Well, we've just had it up on stands and levered all the joints and nothing moved. I'll be going back to the garage tomorrow morning to get the monkey to show me where the play is. So that's it. I need at least a full set of brake & fuel lines and possibly some bushes. If I'm really lucky, I'll be able to pay for them.
  15. Meh, it's what I've been doing the last 2 years. Drive up Monday morning, 2.5-3 hours, stay in b&b, come home Friday afternoon. It's a pain in the arse as I end up with just the weekend to try and do everything, but it's better than the dole.
  16. Well, got an interview with Jacobs next Wednesday. It's back up in Whitehaven and it's with the old MD from where I worked a few years ago, so he knows what I'm capable of, which should be a good step.
  17. and I haven't used Revit. Cheers anyway.
  18. Aye, but I'm better than them Hairier, anyway.

Got a new lodger last month and in place of a month and half's rent, I got a J reg KLE500. Can't argue at that. It's been stood for a good while, so I've just got a new battery, rear indicators and grips for it, so it'll be getting fuelled up and run later on. Then MOT'd, etc. It's a bit ratty, but bikes aren't meant to be clean Anyway, it'll be getting a good coat of matt black soon enough.
  21. Wow, lucky find. Hopefully SOCO will come up with something.
