  1. Do you mean in terms of what you repay if it all goes by the book, or are you thinking about some other considerations (e.g. early repayment penalties, late repayment penalties, administrative hassle, etc)?
  2. Starter motor contacts need replacing?
  3. Due is a tuner/engine builder on here, not sure he does it any more though. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/member.php?492-dude
  4. Maybe one of them's for the low box?
  5. Hello Aimie, welcome to the club.
  6. There's a Basingstoke meet every month: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?301525
  7. I'm convinced that this is the time and place to be sharing it. You never know who's out there reading it, feeling helpless/frustrated about the situation, like you said it might help someone out some day, or might be doing that already.
  8. The problem with most mushroom filters is that they suck in warm air from the engine bay. To get the best power, your filter needs to suck in cold air, and that has to come from outside the car. The stock air box uses ducting to get air from outside.
  9. Welcome to the forum! I understand your beef: you (like me in your position) would like to buy a supra first and then join if you buy one. How it's set up currently, is that you need to join, and then take the risk of not finding a suitable one here. But the alternative for the forum is that it becomes a free marketplace for supras, where people can come in, buy what they want, and never visit again. When people stop visiting here for knowledge sharing and yes, even chit chat, it would become just a supra-specific Autotrader.
  10. It is strange enough to warrant inclusion in "mkivsupra.net - The Musical". Ryan, can you sing?
  11. A bit off topic, and I know a matrix change isn't your reason for taking the dash out, but does that stage of strip-down allow you to change the heater matrix? I can see it in the photos, but not sure if it's still obstructed or not. Previous photos of matrix changes showed a completely stripped dash, with the steering column resting on the floor, and it looks a bit scary.
  12. Both are really good ideas. You're an inspiration.
  13. I didn't think the W58s were rare or expensive. The 6 speed boxes certainly are. E.g. £500 ono: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Supra-W58-Manual-Gearbox-Drift-Aristo-Kitcar-Healey-/141502555156 This one's come from a Supra and not a Lexus, Aristo etc etc, so should be a straight swap with a minimum of mucking about.
  14. The factory amp doesn't have a good reputation for quality sound, so probably. Could also be the speakers themselves if they're original.
  15. I would advise you not to. I suggest you crack open the oil sump drain plug and run some out of there. I always double-dip, a single reading can be misleading on some of the cars I've owned.
  16. In my experience, it's generally harder to make money shorting than it is to go long. Falls tend to be harder to time, meaning a short position can be underwater for a while if/before it makes money.
  17. How do you decide what to trade on? Trading forums, reading the financial press, quant analysis, gut feeling, etc?
  18. Function over form for me too. Bodykits are just automotive fashion.
  19. No. I did bet on the FTSE250 going up a couple of months ago but then it tanked and got my bottom handed to me.

    help:(

I would take it to a mechanic you trust. Don't go replacing gearboxes until you're pretty sure that's what's wrong: trial and error is a very expensive way of fixing cars. They wouldn't have to be a supra expert, but some of the pro mechanics on here are the best. Be wary of asking mates who claim a bit of car knowledge unless they really do know their stuff.
  21. I also find these posts an interesting read. You've achieved amazing things with Nath.
  22. The immobiliser needs to be off (i.e. car ready to start) for the paperclip trick to work.

    Newbie

Hello Laura. Do you have a supra, or thinking of buying one?
