  1. Mine's quite short: Rover Metro 1.1S Rover Metro 1.1C (*cough* still got it) Toyota Supra NA
  2. Yeah that's a nice car. I had a wave from him once. Can't remember who it is, but it's on one of my "was it you" spots on here...
  3. Well, you can judge if a particular model is rare by how many are for sale at the usual outlets (e.g. Autotrader). If someone told me that non-turbo 5sp manual supras are rare, and I saw 8 for sale in the Autotrader within a sensible distance, I'd be inclined not to believe them. If, however, someone said that UK 6sp manual supras are common and I couldn't find any for sale, I would again not believe them.
  4. SonicSoop, as the board's very own Finbar Saunders, I knew you'd pick up on that!
  5. I've heard good things about this too. I can't take my girlfriend though, she doesn't like films putting the willies up her.
  6. I have 3 words for you: diagnose, diagnose, diagnose. Get the problem diagnosed before you buy a new engine that you might not need. If you're not sufficiently capable to do the diagnosis yourself (I wouldn't be), then you need to speak to a garage or workshop whose opinion you trust. Whatever the problem and solution is, be careful with going for a dirt-cheap option. Buy cheap, buy twice...
  7. Sorry to hear about this. Good luck with selling the supe.
  8. Babe, I won't say don't fight it, for the same reason as someone pointed out about contensting speeding tickets that couldn't have been you. BUT please don't continue to do it. It's still litter. I don't throw my chewing gum out of the window when I'm done with it.... I stick it under the passenger seat!! :D
  9. Well done! PS nice car too, I'm jealous of the 6 speed 'box! I've read the threads about your FTO.
  10. Do they come complete with the metal frames, or is it just the upholstered parts?
  11. Oh, and Sky let you buy the car back from them if it's ever written off for economy reasons. This is something that's a distinct possibility especially for NAs. This is a big plus for me.
  12. I completely agree. If all the other guy is doing is matching the quote (or to within a few quid either way), then I'll deffo go with who I'm happiest with. I've just renewed with Sky. I phoned around for other quotes (including Lancaster), but felt much happier with the Sky people. The girl from Lancaster spent ages trying to convince me that I needed breakdown cover. "... but I've already got RAC cover...." " ...that's OK sir, you can cancel that at your next RAC renewal..." "... but I don't want to..." "... you'll be wasting your money blah blah...." "... but I have another car, will you cover that too?.." " .... er, no sir." Shut up then.
  13. On behalf of a friend: High mileage, but the car still looks good and runs well. He's going abroad for a year but doesn't want to mothball it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120044032583
  14. I'm off out to buy a stretched hummer then. :(
  15. Dude, that's bang on! I also don't give a toss whether people like mine or not. Mine's an MSB, commonly known as Monkey-sh1t-brown. I don't care, I like the colour.

    Hi All

From another NA owner, welcome to the club!
  17. I don't think they offer full enclosure as one of the features, but I might be wrong.
  18. Yeah, get better soon. ..... I don't want to have read all 160-odd posts in this thread for nothing!!
  19. That means you'v got a fault code logged in the ECU. Do a search on here to find out what the error code is (all you need is a paperclip, seriously!), post up the error code and then we'll take it from there. At a guess, I'd say you were either braking hard when it came on (brake fluid low warning), or you were doing at least 50mph. If it's the latter, I'd reckon it's a "code 42": speed sensor error. Very common falut, and nothing to do with the actual speed sensor!! Let us know what code the ECU gives you....
  20. Sorry JSpec, I tried to find the documentation that came with my Thor DSC+TSD but couldn't find it.
  21. I've changed a headgasket on a Rover Metro. Not too bad, just familiarise yourself well with the procedure before starting. For example, you don't want to undo the head bolts in the wrong order. If you've got "mayonnaise" in the engine (from mixing oil and water) then when the HG's been changed, run the engine with diesel oil for about 1000 miles to clean it out, then do an oil change as normal. Get the head surface checked for flatness, and get it skimmed if it's warped. When you've bolted the engine back together, whilst the spark plugs are out turn the crankshaft manually using a spanner and make sure it turns relatively smoothly with no untoward resistance. If you've got the timing wrong, you'll hopefully feel the valves impacting the pistons. Better to do it this way, than to crank it using the starter motor and then need to replace all the valves!!
  22. Honda Prelude for sale, posting this up on behalf of a friend: 2.0i Manual, 1997 P reg Mk5 Shape This is a metallic green UK car that has MOT until April 2007, tax March 2007, service history and has been dealer serviced every 6000 miles or 6 months. The pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago. It has now ticked over the 100k miles but the car is still is brilliant condition both inside and out! Other features, Electric Windows, Electric Sunroof, ABS Breaks, Air Con, Immobiliser, MP3 CD Player. She has been extremely reliable for me for nearly 3 years and I will be sorry to see her go! He wants £2500 ono. Pictures to follow...
  23. I've heard of this too. Can't be for real. It's really doing the rounds on 'tinternet. The one that SonicSoop linked to has a different gift code, so it probably won't be that one.
  24. Like Phoenix-One, I keep mine in a single garage. Getting out of the car whilst in the garage keeps me flexible!!!
