Well I've had my small front plate for months now and never had any problems: http://www.mpaconsultancy.co.uk/supra/topdown50percent.jpg .....touch wood!

This is, after all, a car enthusiasts/owners forum - why can't we keep things related to the subject matter rather than descending into personal jibes (again)? Everyone's entitled to disagree with others' opinions, whether on a technical or personal level - but on here any counter-arguments should be limited to the subject matter and not an excuse for a dig at someone...? Sorry to rant but it does all get a bit tiresome at times.... Smile!

Actually, changing the LED's isn't too bad, I managed to change mine over to blue to match my blue-backlit gauges. But it would be nice to have all the "button images" in blue as well, I assume that's what you mean by "legends" Pete? (Edited by Mark Ayling at 12:44 pm on April 3, 2002)

I've got one you can have if you still need it, from a pre-facelift model... email me direct if you like, [email protected]

Thanks for all your help - glad to see I'm not the only saddo who sits on the BBS all day! Cheers, Mark.

Tell me about it!! I did wonder about using thread lock or something, I think thats what I'll do. A couple more questions: Is it going to pee with fuel when I fully remove the nut? Adam, you say "as long as it doesn't get too hot" - a) does it get hot? and b) what will happen if it does....?
-
LOL - worth a try though, the height of laziness! On the bottom of the FSE valve (the bottom as fitted in my car anyway, red arrow) there is a nut which screws into the valve housing, like a blanking nut - no pipe. On their website this is the closest I can find to what I have (with my limited technical knowledge): http://www.mpaconsultancy.co.uk/supra/FSEValve_side-view.jpg I have "red arrowed" the blanking nut...

I can't get another pic until this evening when I get home, but I have edited the original image to indicate where it is attached [embarassingly non-technical mode] At the back of the big grey block thing (which has the ETCS badge on it) there is a small lug with a screwhole in it - the FSE valve is bolted onto that....

http://www.mpaconsultancy.co.uk/supra/FSEValve.jpg The nut is at the bottom of the valve, indicated by the arrow. (They're damn handy those arrows, I must pop down the arrow shop and buy some more )

I posted before about fuel leaking from the bottom of my FSE valve after giving the car a good thrashing at high boost. It turned out that the "blanking nut" had apparently been worked loose, so I tightened it up and the leak went away and didn't come back....until yesterday. As I pulled out of the drive I noticed a puddle of fuel on the ground, and sure enough the leak was back, same problem. This time I removed the FSE valve for better access and tightened the nut again as much as humanly possible before putting it back on. I went for a thrash in the lovely weather, messing with the boost controller and testing out my new suspension , then I checked the FSE valve for a leak - no leak, and the nut was solid, so I assume its OK now. The only thing is I'm doing a trackday in Anglesey this Friday and the last thing I want is to blow the thing whilst on track... Can anyone shed any light on this, or put my mind at ease? If it keeps happening I assume I can just remove the whole thing without any problems...?

http://www.mpaconsultancy.co.uk/supra/whatsthis.jpg Can anyone tell me what this is in the engine bay and why, having cut the engine after a run would it make a kind of creaking/ticking/buzzing noise (like air escaping or somthing)....? Sorry for the vague description, I hope you know what I mean!! BTW, I don't know about other parts of the country, but what a day - awesome weather!! I've just been out for the first proper thrash in ages and the grinning hasn't stopped yet!

I'm a bit confused now! The plugs I bought were "Blitz Iridium Spec", in a Blitz box and each plug in its own individual Blitz box, and yet on the actual plugs themselves it says NGK. So have I been bumped off or are the "Blitz" plugs made by NGK also?
-
I noticed the other thread about HKS Plugs and didn't want to hijack it so I've started my own... I have Blitz Iridium Spec plugs and I still suffer from misfiring at high boost, although admittedly not as bad as it was with stock plugs - what else can cause this? Thanks in advance, Mark.

I wonder whether anyone can shed some light on a problem I had yesterday... The weather was great and the roads so dry that it would have been rude not to have a little blast for the first time in months, so I thought I'd have a play with the AVC-R. I'd forgotton how much of a difference it makes, great fun!! The AVC-R reckoned I boosted up to 1.13, which I don't/didn't think was too excessive for a short period, but it did seem to misfire very slightly when I was *really* shifting. A couple of hours later someone asked me to pop the bonnet so they could have a nose at the engine - good job they did, as at tickover there was fuel leaking from the bottom of the FSE valve at quite a rate . It was coming from the blanking nut on the bottom, which I tightened up and the leaking stopped - still a bit of a worry though! I just wondered if anyone knows what happened here - was the nut worked loose by the high boost or could it have just been a coincidence? It could have been a bit loose already I suppose - its as tight as it will go now. Surely I can up the boost without having to worry about blowing things, especially if only for short periods? Now I'm a bit wary, but it would be pointless having all the kit if its unsafe to use... Any help/comments appreciated. Cheers, Mark.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound like I was recommending a copy - I've got a Veilside-a-like on my Supe and Ash spent the best part of two weeks "reshaping" it so it fitted properly. Its absolutely spot-on now but if I was buying another and had the choice then obviously I'd go for an original. Its just a money thing really, whatever you can afford or are willing to pay...
-
Its definitely true that the JIC kits are often a pain in the arse when it comes to fitting, especially the nosecones. However, from what I hear even the genuine Veilside stuff is not perfect.

Thanks for the replies chaps. I guess the belt would be the cheapest thing to change anyway, don't suppose anyone knows how much its going to cost me...?
-
If anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated... At tick-over I have a nasty rattly-squeaky noise coming from under the bonnet and I have been told by a garage that its my aircon pump. They sprayed something on it which cured it for a very short while but it soon came back again. The aircon still seems to work properly, but I guess either the belt or the pump itself is on the way out? I just wondered if anyone had had similar problems or knew the best way to diagnose it without paying someone to have a look. TIA Mark.

Yes, I'd be interested in purchasing one of those...

Don't know if this is any use to anyone - http://www.carfiche.com it has a number of microfiche scans one of which is for the JZA80 Supra. Could be useful for finding part numbers maybe...?
-
I'm sure Justin can sort you out with a variety of different bodykits/skirts etc. www.torqueic.com [email protected] HTH what does the bodykit you have look like then? Do you have any pics? (Edited by Mark Ayling at 1:34 pm on Jan. 9, 2002)

Don't suppose they collect...?

I'll find out....

Sorry, just read that again!! £150 a set? Can I have the details too please....? Cheers, Mark.

I was pointed in the direction of a company called Lepsons in Gillingham, apparently its £50 per wheel and they are supposed to be very good...
