  1. BTW, sorry to repeat myself, but if its my valve stem seals - is it a) serious and/or b) expensive..?!
  2. LOL thanks Phil, will check it later on... Good job I've got a spare set of turbos in the garage! Of course if I'm replacing the turbos then I might as well get them hybrided!
  3. Phil, now you're talking my language! I do have a hardpipe, but I assume the same check applies? mazman, thanks - I haven't noticed smoke when just ticking over, its when I set off or floor it... So...if its my valve stem seals - is the a) serious and/or b) expensive..?!
  4. er.....right....um....ok - all I have to do now is work out what/where the hell that is!! Any pointers...? Cheers, Mark.
  5. er...kind of a bluey grey, I think....
  6. I know there's been various smoke-related questions on here but I just wanted to ask about my specific situation... I did have a bit of smoke on start-up in the morning after the car had been sat up overnight, and I read in the other thread that this could be because the oil was a bit thin and seeped through the seals or something?? Anyway, I had an oil/filter change (long overdue) the day before I did the track day at Goodwood, where I have to admit I caned the sh*t out of the car Since then, I notice that there's still some smoke in the morning, but I also now get puffs of smoke when I pull away or change gear and floor it (as seen by a friend in a following car). Also, I sat with my engine running for a few minutes the other day (after a bit of a journey, so it wasn't cold), and when I revved the engine I noticed a big puff of smoke come out! Sorry for the wordy post, just wondered if I should be worried or not? Are my turbos perhaps on the way out, possibly giving me an excuse to go for hybrids?!
  7. God Damn - the "general public" are so inconsiderate!
  8. use the pedal....its the one in the middle
  9. Indeed, compared to a "normal" car they're obviously very good brakes, as you'd expect from top end performance car - and for basic road use they will do the job fine. However, I bet if you did uprate them (even just the pads) that you would be well impressed with the difference - I've yet to do this but must do soon!
  10. From my track experiences, I think they're very good brakes.....for the first few seconds of use, after which they fade so badly that you may as well stick your foot out the door and drag it along the ground to stop!
  11. Its got to be worth something purely for the fact that its had VBH's arse on the seat...
  12. Yep, very fast and some very technical corners - the camber is all over the place. If it was raining I wouldn't have driven at all!
  13. Will be digitising some of the more interesting bits tonight! The track day was organised by Bookatrack, cost me £169 and worth every penny! ...well actually it cost a bit more than that when you consider I got through 2 tanks of petrol and a set of tyres! (the tyres were on their last legs anyway, so its only fair to thrash the last bit of tread off round a track )
  14. Yep that's the one - I was kind of exaggerating, to illustrate how short the run off is...
  15. I don't remember seeing any gravel there, just a small grass verge! In fact, Goodwood doesn't have any big run-offs, which can get quite scary at times!
  16. Well it would have to be considerably improved for me to buy another one - build quality aside (perhaps I was to violent with it? ), I wasn't really that pleased with the result anyway - its not as if the standard shift is "long", and its certainly accurate enough out of the box....
  17. I never remember the names of all the corners, but it was the last one before the chicane by the pits...?
  18. Just thought I'd share with everyone my experience with the B&M short-shift kit I had fitted to the Supra a few months ago: When I first had it fitted, I wasn't convinced about the "short-shiftness" of it at all....it didn't feel like a shorter shift at all really, just very notchy and "tight". Plus, since, I've never really got used to the thing and occasionally had trouble engaging certain gears, very random really. So I've been considering reverting back to the standard jobbie for a while...then today, I was given a reason to do so when the frigging thing snapped off in my hand at 130+mph around Goodwood racetrack ! Seriously, sliding round a corner at 70+mph with a detached gearstick in your hand is definitely "shitting-it" material! Luckily, I managed to nip into Chichester and get it bodge-welded back on for a fiver, enabling me to do a couple more sessions and get home, but I will be reverting to the standard shifter ASAP. Other than that, it was a fantastic day, some nice machinery there and the Supra definitely shone - got some great powersliding vids which I will post a link to later if anyone's interested. Cheers, Mark. PS I was going to do some sort of "my knob fell off" comedy-style title to this thread, but I'm better than that....but suffice to say that now my knob's been re-attached its working fine!! LOL
  19. Eh? Isn't the first turbo slightly smaller?
  20. Ever unspoken to avoid hurting his feelings - now the truth is out!

  22. Ouch! Mr B, I never thought even you could be that hurtful! Tsk, there's far too much jealousy on here - you have to live with the fact that not everyone can handle a "man's bodykit" http://www.mpaconsultancy.co.uk/flipa.gif
  23. LOL Point taken - and I also think chromed wheels look good (certain wheels, certain cars), but they're just far too "cribs" for my taste! Plus I just thought I would try and wind Brad up after all the ribbing I've had about my spoiler.... IMO the Kahns would look better as they are on the Supra. BTW, got any pics yet Brad, or aren't they fitted yet?
