Cheers for the encouragement there guys, I'm going to speak to the Insurance Co again (Sky) as this must have happened in the shunt, and is only manifesting itself now - so surely the other guys insurance should pay for the repair. (I even stated I was worried that this may have happened and was told all was fine??) J

Hi all, Noticed my exhaust seemed to blowing a bit so have just got home fom the garage where we looked at it. It seems that when my car was rear-ended a while back, the bottom of the three studs which bolts the 1st CAT removal pipe to the turbo elbow has snapped, causing the blowing. The guy in the garage says he can remove the stud, retap the hole and restud it. How easy is this? Obviously the elbow needs to be removed fom the Turbo. Is this easy, or can these studs/bolts snap too, causing a bigger problem? Or, is it easier/cheaper to get a new elbow? I'm sure loads of people must have had snapped studs on their decats, any advice? cheers J

I agree with Jake on this, that you're paying for the fact that these cars can cost big ££'s to fix. Mine was lightly tail-ended a few months back and cost £4K to fix and a months cost of a hire car. I guess that statistics say young drivers are more likely to crash a powerful rear wheel drive car. I pay £620 for my TT (33) - I'd never pay £3k just for insurance!! J

No in Supe mate, was driving a piece of sh*t Citroen C4. Only good thing to say is it was better than the Picasso. Car makers must sell these car/MPV hybrids, but why the fcuk do people want them??? no better than a diesel van IMO - uncomfortable, crap driving position, uterly unengaging to drive and I never felt in control, as I swear that the steering wheel was not connected to the wheels and the tyres never seemed to be in contact with the road!! Utter CRAP!!! J

Just watched some highlights of Real Madrid tonight. Some (loads) of absolutely fantastic passing & crossing from Beckham including crossing for both goals , seems the rest of the team failed to put the ball in the net time & again - they just won 3 mins from time. Sven, are you watching!!??

LOL!! Yeah I know what you mean there. I've got qualifications but think I need to retrain as I've never really used them and got to where I am through 'on the job' style learning, progression, promotion etc. I'm concerned that I don't have any pieces of paper which I can take elsewhere... I got myself down for some training etc, but nothings come of it (as per usual) At least the only 'dependencies' I've got are the cars

Sorry about the redundancy there Jake I'm just not sure I can stomach another 30 odd years thinking "there must be something better than doing this". I know that I'm not up for starting a business, sounds too much like hard work. Gonna have a real good think and scour the net for 'hidden gems' which you may not normally think of when looking for jobs. J

Anyone done this out of choice? (ie not redundancy etc) I've worked in the same industry for the last 8 years and really feel it's time for a change. I ended up working in this area through a mate telling me to get my CV in and now feel that I'm at a point where I need to decide whether it's my chosen career or not. I'm 33 have a B-Eng degree, worked for 2 years on a civil engineering project, and 8 years in defence. I'm really struggling for enthusiasm, and can’t stand the thought of another 35 years , but I’m reasonably well paid and don’t really relish the though of a pay-cut (must be able to continue pay for the Supra & Grale !!) Any tips or thoughts etc from people on here would be most welcome. Maybe I just need to gain a fresh perspective or something?? Many thanks J
