Why is it a simple thing creates more problems!!! I've noticed a water sloshing noise from the back of my car recently, and have concluded that my TRD wing is letting water into the side pods. So I took it off today, emptied the water out and placed plastic cement/sealant where there are gaps where the bolt holes go. Start to put it back together and drop one of the bastard bolts down into the rear hatch and it slides up between the outer and inner skins no chance of getting it out with fingers). So I'm now gonna have the sound of a bolt rolling back and forth in the hatch every time I accelerate, brake and go round corners. I can hear it sliding when I open & close the hatch. Anyone else done this (and going to admit to it!) and got any tips for getting the bleeder out???? J

Sounds good, but my concern is loads of 17 years olds buying cars (or parents buying cars) that are way too powerful for them and ploughing into other road users. I realise that many younger drivers are careful and responsible etc, but many arn't. At least high insurance prices does mean that people gain experience of driving on the road before getting more powerful vehicles, which can't be a bad thing... J

Hi mate, nice Cossie. Whilst I'm not really clued up too much on the techie stuff, I believe the stock ECU is capable of fuelling the car to 1Bar boost. However, the Supra runs very very rich, so at 1.2 bar boost, even though the ECU is only fuelling for 1Bar, you will not run lean. The Tech section should have all the answers J

Oh Yeah Jed, something you're not telling us J

Hi mate, I had exactly this a few weeks ago. Have you looked under the bonnet atall, as mine had spewed coolant all over the undertray. My advice is to assume something is wrong. My water pump seals had failed and leaked about 2 litres of coolant, almost emptying the rad. Check the rad cap to see if it's full. As soon as I had this the temptation was to assume the gauge had 'gone funny' but I stopped straight away, called the RAC and got it looked at properly by a garage. Very glad I did!! J

Always good to see some serious metal driving about. Saw a McMerc SLR on the M6 last week, oh and a Lambo Gallardo, but that's not as rare J

1000bhp from a 2l 4cyl lancia/fiat engine!!!?
jaymdee replied to chilli's topic in Non-Supra Technical
Yep, Keith was there with the yellow Gallo he's got. Don't think any other 'tuners' were there though. Was a good day. some very quick Evos (eg Norris) and a super fast Audi Quattro. Bloody wet when it rained though!! J -
1000bhp from a 2l 4cyl lancia/fiat engine!!!?

Hi Chilli mate. I was at Castle Combe at the weekend at the Rally Day up there. I was on the Lancia Club stand along with 40 other Integrales. These 2 guys had a seriously modded Grale, kicking out 397BHP crank. This engine had all bespoke parts, which the guys (one was ex-Lancia mechanic) had designed and had built. It had an uprated turbo running 1.5Bar and MOTEC ECU, as they were re-doing the map between runs. They had replaced everything on and in the engine, money not really an issue, and I'm sure if it was possible and worth it they could have gone for more power. Totally road driveable too. One bloke also took an original Carlos Sainz Group A rally winiing car, and tracked it!! I recon you may be able to get 1000BHP but only for a few seconds before...BANG (I got overtaken by Miko Hirvonnen driving a Focus WRC - fcuk that things fast!! he slid it round the next corner on one rear wheel ) J -
Hmmm that is close, and nearly the correct location. Sure it was L15***EAB. It had the hanging down rear fog lamp J

Just at the M6/M6 Toll. I was away with work and driving a particularly boring & gutless Vectra 1.8sri. Gotta admit Supes look cool from behind!! (and front, and side...) Anyone here? J

driving up the Keynsham Bypass from Bath direction towards Bristol. I only just spotted you as it's difficult to see over the central reservation at some points. Am sure it was Aerotyop though... J

Cheers Clarkey, Have ordered front & rear domed carbon fibre effect from Demonplates J

Hi, I am trying to get a rear number plate which covers the hole in the rear bumper. I measured it as needing to be 175mm high and 330mm wide, but my local motor factors type places have said they can't do it, as they have to work from a template, which does not cover those dimensions. Where do people get number plates of this size when importing cars from Japan? J

Red 16V mate. link here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=44582&highlight=integrale Nothing too fancy, but is chipped to 1.4Bar. Pretty quick, and good fun cross country. Would like a late Evo 2, but too many £££ and they've only got a small turbo. Tracked it at Goodwood in April and am going to Rally Day at Castle Combe on 22nd July. J

Well sort of...Yesterday after leaving work I got a mile down the road and the temp gauge suddenly went up to 'H'. As I was on a dual carriage way in Bristol in Rush-hour I pulled off when I could. The engine under the bonnet seemed very hot for such a short journey, so I assumed there was a problem other than a faulty gauge & phoned the RAC. Whilst waiting the engine cooled sufficiently for me to be able to safely remove the rad cap, and bugger me - no coolant!!!, although the exp tank did have 2-3 inches in it. RAC man filled rad up and car seemed OK. Now the ironic part - I was actually on my way to an Air Con place to have a refurbished compressor and new drier & expansion valve fitted. Took the car in last night (guy waited for me to arrive ) and he's had a good look round. Basically, my water pump seal has failed and he reckons it's been leaking for a while and finally just given up and dumped loads of coolant. If the pump was gonna go, it couldn't have gone at a better time, as both jobs can be done at the same time saving on labour costs and embuggerance factor. Doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to get the Supe to Martin's on Sunday though although if I'm allowed I'll come in the Integrale. J

Yes Nic. Had them set to 34 when put on. I then reduced them to 32 and it felt a bit better. I'll give a week or so and see how they feel. cheers. I must say I liked the Michelin Sport Pilots I had last time, but only got 7500 miles from them !!! J

Thanks Guys, So basically after a few hundred miles the car may feel as it was again. I know tyres need to be scrubbed in a bit, but I've never really noticed it much before. cheers J

I have just had some new Toyo Proxy T1R's fitted to the rear of the car and now the handling feels all weird at the back end when throwing the car round corners at speed. It seems to pitch & roll far too much (it's never done this before). Anyone else had this with these tyres? I'm going to try to get Toyota to do 4 wheel alignment, but I know my rear camber adjusters are seized, so not sure how successful that wil be. Could it be the reinforced side wall reacting differently to the Michelin's? cheers for any suggestions J
-
Damn It. When I left for work this morning, I thought I'd see if I could bet on 1-1 at 90 mins and then Germany on penalties. Forgot to place bet, as too busy at work and then had to get new rear tyres fitted. Can't believe it would have been dead right!! J
-
Anyone watched their vid? There's no way somone would think that was turbo'd it's too damn slow!!! What a totally ridiculous way to waste £140 J
-
Cheers mate, but already booked in at Air Con place in Bath for next week, who have refurb'd a used compressor for me. I've ordered a new valve from Toyota, asked for 10% discount and he gave it to me no problems!! thanks for the offer though. How long would you say the whole task should take? What does the guy actually need to do to remove/replace compresor, drier, valve etc?? Don't want to get ripped off and pay for needless work if he removes stuff he doesn't need to. Thanks for any pointers I can pass on which may save some pennies Edit - yes I've got a new receiver/drier too J
-
Don't remember whether ***XIL or XIL***. Spotted on Cold Harbour Lane. As usual I was driving the work's Passat rather than the Supe!! I've seen you a couple times whilst driving to work in the morning in that area. J

Hi Martin, I'm looking for a new one, as I'm having the AC done with new & refurbished parts (inc compressor, cheers) to safeguard against future failure (gonna cost a fair bit for labour). If you have a new one, I could arrange to pick up over the weekend. cheers J
-
Hi, Can anyone get me a new AC expansion valve (pt 88515). Just spoken to Toyota and they want £72 plus VAT Car is booked in next week to have new AC compresor fitted and just been told I may need this too. cheers J
