  1. Sorry to read you've got problems Kev. Afraid I can't offer any suggestions though as I'm a numpty when it comes to stuff like this.
  2. Gary, I had to get glasses when I was 12 and was 'mortified' but nobody really made anything of it at school. So many people wear them now (is this to do with Class One's post?) that it's not an issue.
  3. TBH mate, I read this exactly the same way as SonicSoop. Anyone can cause racial tension by labouring a topic or view point to stir up agro.
  4. Could you not sample the sound and play it loud on your stereo - this is both cheap and gives you what you want
  5. I can't count the number of times recently that I've read something along the lines of: "I've done a search, but couldn't find anything. Can anybody tell me ..." and it's always something which has been discussed on here hundreds of times. Anyone else noticing this? Anyway, can someone tell me what the red button is for next to the Auto lever?

    new years

"Once in a life time" and "cheap is good" don't really go together.
  7. These are nice little cars. Really good gearboxes and fun engine. I had one for 3 years before getting a Skoda vRS (lasted 8 months) and then the Supra. Much better looking than all the current hot hatches IMO. Good luck with the sale.
  8. Anyone read this load of old bollocks: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/203270/speed_limit_cuts.html So cars contribute say 10% of UK's carbon. UK contributes 2% of world carbon. Travelling slower would save maybe 30% carbon for maybe 50% of car users (ignoring that you'd be actually driving for twice as long!!) so this idea would save approx 0.03% of world carbon emissions. Big F'ing deal Also, how would this be cheap as surely all cars would need to be properly converted to KPH and it would totally unenforceable. Besides, travelling at 40 on a motorway is when the traffic bunches up and accidents occur
  9. Sorry to read this. I once had the bottom end go in a Ford Escort. Absolutely no warning. Just suddenly sounded like a bag of spanners.
  10. Tricky-Ricky, I had mine fully decatted with RSR exhaust and with the 'standard' 1.2Bar restrictor ring I only got 0.9-1.0 Bar. Spent ages trying to see why I wasn't getting 1.2 Bar and eventually took the ring out and added 6mm to the diameter (3 mm all the way round). Hit 1.2 Bar nicely after that. They're all slightly different and not all overboost madly, as Steviekid said...
  11. If you take the dash off you can disconnect the wires from the switch so it's permanently off. You still get the warning light though
  12. I think Charlie (b'have) has removed his AC pump, so maybe could help
  13. I downloaded the 360 demo. played it once and deleted it. absolute crap - won't bother buying it, even if the full version is much better. I also thought Most Wanted was a step back compared to Underground 2. Test Drive Unlimited demo is pretty good, but I'm hoping Forza 2 cuts the mustard.
  14. Because there's so much you can change, that it seemed criminal to own a car which you can easily extract more performance from and not do it There's only a few performance mods - running a few psi above stock, maybe 350? Side mount intercooler was knackered, cheaper to install Front mount (notice the stronger pull). Downpipe gives the slightly increaed boost. Exhaust sounds nice. Gauges are good to have to monitor Boost and Exhaust temps. Still sorting out handling/suspension. Had UK brakes and factory bodykit when I bought it and I got the wheels off bay for £200, but am thinking of getting some new ones soon.
  15. Well, the Supra is generally a very reliable car with no known design problems (except the dreaded heater matrix - do a search). I guess that they're getting to an age when bits fail through age, like my water pump, as it could on any car, so you need to expect some repair bills, but with decent maintenance you should catch anything before its catastrophic. Also, I said that I wasn't going to change the car (stock when bought it) and 6 months later started on the slippery slope...
  16. At our place I think you can get 6 months on full pay and 6 months with no pay if you want. I understand that you need to have something, but I agree that it's your choice to kids so why should I have to pay for it? I already pay for schools (no kids) libraries (don't use them), fire brigade & ambulances (never used them) and the roads in Bristol & Bath are terrible. I think it's a disgrace the amount we pay and the crap we get for it (rant over)
  17. Heater still worked, just no cold air, some people don't bother getting it fixed (check it blows cold before buying) but I found the Supra cabin got really hot and with the windows open too noisy. The Water Pump is crucial. Basically the bearing & seal went and all my collant pissed out of the radiator. If I hadn't had stopped straight away then my engine may have seized. Maintenance probably about £350 per year for decent service/ plugs/oil etc (does not include any nasty surprises) Petrol about £1400 at 20mpg for 7000 miles tyres - budget for at least £300 per year (I get through a set of rears every 8000 miles and fronts about every 16000) about £150 each tyre
  18. I'm with Sky (club insurer) 34 years old and 4 years no claims. I don't spend a lot compared to most people on here, just basic upkeep and a few bits and pieces here and there. Example: My Air Con & Water pump went this year and cost £1150 to repair. You need to be able to pay out that sort of money without having to save for a few months!!
  19. For my TT, over 3 years it works out at £6k per year including petrol, tax, ins, servicing, tyres, mods & a few repair bills. I've got a few minor (BPU type) mods - nothing fancy. That also accounts for depreciation which I've estimated at £1k per year. So £500 per month I also worked out my Integrale (supposedly a money pit) and that comes in at £200 per month all inc. So much cheaper than the Supe (maybe I should drive that more?)
  20. Hi mate. I've got a used set which will be up for sale soon (next 2 weeks) as I've got Bilsteins now. Done between 15-20000 miles. I had them with Eibach springs and TBH the ride was good on big sweeping roads, but a a bit crashy round town and over pot holes. May be better with J-Spec springs
  21. Nice!! is that a real car or a 'concept' that will never get made?
