  1. Kiss my arse! I told you that the things I thought might be tired weren't even present on a non-turbo car! I'm not a used car buyer y'know. I thought I already explained to you that the exhaust is meant to be able to move a bit, and I still can't see any rust formation Anyhoo, like I said. I think it'd be easier if you just got a train back from London.
  2. It's going back! That was a short Supra experience. Paint work is more problematic than she thought and the experience of me having to fix things hasn't stood it in good light. The heater matrix also appears to be blocked , and the steering is occasionally going "bbbbbrrrrrrrrrrr" when stationary. I have no idea how it passed the MOT when one of the sidelights is out. I suppose this is an experience in how not to check out a Supra before buying
  3. Oh and it's got a HKS mushroom filter
  4. Definately not, but there's no telling some people and learning the hard way is the only way. As it happens the car doesn't seem to be so powerful, but I still think first gear bends could be scary, and that's forgetting about the coming winter Just got the car back and fixed the usual problems - RH warning panel was dead, heater controls were playing up too but a bit of solder has sorted them all. Steering wheel wasn't on straight either but it's all good now. Quite a nice car.
  5. yes mate it's Supralookin/Bozo/Bomex989/Emma/Lee/whatever.
  6. Had a chat with both the financer and the chap himself and we're going to buy it and pay the finance off over the phone there and then.

  8. Headgaskets on the 7M go with alarming frequently and err yeah I'd say there's probably quite a difference. Weren't there some 1JZ 2.5ltr MK3s?
  9. Just been to somewhere near London to look at a black SZ reg. number K102 OYJ. The car is a very tidy 5spd black. Couple of trim problems - the passenger grab handle has come off but is in the glove box, and for some odd reason the bit of plastic behind the steering wheel is gone - the bit that covers the sort of 'boss' part of the oem (non-airbag wheel). Aaaanyway.. here's the intesting part We just got back and did a HPI check and it says there is outstanding finance on the vehicle. The guy selling the car seemed to know it well as though it was his car, but the tax ran out four months ago, and it was on the driveway of a mates house, apparently because this guys driveway is being worked on. Hmmm. So we never saw where the guy lives. There's a hell of a lot of documentation, V5, service history, including Japanese stuff, and the car looks to be in great shape, but alarm bells are ringing now. I suppose it is sometimes normal for someone to sell a car and then pay off the finance with that money, is it? Thoughts, anyone? HPI Check attached.. HPI.pdf
  10. Is this like the 'showoffyourcar.com' and cardomain.com sites? If so then I think it is definately a good idea. Those sites are flooded with content and something more locally focused would be very desirable.
  11. didn't know about the Toyota Owners Forum. What's that other forum that's fairly large but more Lexus LS / Soarer focuses?.. Can't for the life of me think of it.
  12. the eml file is a saved email message. Forward it to me and I'll get it online for you Send it to [email protected]
  13. I have quite frequently noticed times of major slowness too but no specific times or patterns (not that I have been looking for any). Maybe these were just extremely busy times?

  16. I have previously and am currently trying to explain the importance of 'respecting' a powerful RWD car to someone and am wondering if there are any sort of get-the-message-home online demonstrations or animations which would help someone understand without undermining their own thoughts. Does anyone know of anything. I don't think howstuffworks.com has an entry on RWD. cheers, Carl
  17. Since the price of petrol went up, I get to Lytham (blackpool) and back again on about £30 (from Manchester Airport). £20 gives me almost a third of a tank and this gets me to Leeds and a bit of the way back, need another £7 to get home.. it's bad. and that's tickling the throttle, staying off boost completely.
  18. She's decided she doesn't want that one anyway, I was just curious. Thanks
  19. Sorry I should have said - the engine was very much warmed up. My TT holds revs high to speed the warmup time. This was definately staying like that for ever.
  20. Went to look at the 'Ruby Red' SZ 5sp in Bradford on Friday with the tart, and I noticed that it was idling at around 1800rpm. When the a/c condensor kicked in, the revs actually dropped instead of rising. Also the gases from the exhaust felt much hotter than my TT. Is this normal due to the higher comp. engine? Does the high idle point to anything serious? cheers.
  21. It has made a noticable difference to the stability of the car, because my balljoint was goosed. I did have a clunking suspension before, but this was due to worn drop-links, which when replaced made a wonderful difference. My car feels great, and I'm extremely happy with it, but the drop-links made the most refreshing difference. The LCA has stopped a faint knock whilst landing off speedbumps, and tightened up the steering massively, to how it should be.
