  1. you beat me to it. I should read properly, sorry
  2. or "where are the turbos". that reminds me. I saw a grossly overpriced UK spec TT6 on eBay the other day..
  3. I know JohnA bought one which he felt was of better quality than the rest.. going in search of his thread now.
  4. Yep Now, I need one that has a proper spring inside it, but none of those on eBay actually show the spring, and to look at, the units themselves are of a simliar size to this one.
  5. result! I removed the boost controller from hose 2 of the VSV, thereby allowing the VSV to leak to atmosphere, and right away I hit over 18psi without even trying So, my ball and spring MBC was not holding the boost off from the wastegate actuator as it should. The reason why? .. have a look at the pathetic spring inside it! (pics below). The answer to the original question then, is that the turbos can make *plenty* of boost regardless of a slightly restrictive exhaust..
  6. Petrol guage has got to be the only difficult one. Tacho goes on at 650 like Paul says, speedo goes on at zero. Engine warmed up, temp goes in the middle...
  7. I too like the Bilstein shocks. I have them with some relatively low-rate springs and most of the time it feels great. I drove a stock UK car a while ago and couldn't beleive how high and boat-like it felt.
  8. Peugeot 406 Coupe 2.2 HDI. Doesn't have back doors, other than that it's right on budget. Or a BMW 320d.
  9. Emma why don't you piss off and stop bumping this thread all the time.
  10. From what I've been reading it's quite a common thing since Wine 9.2 or something.. there's talk about compiling from source with freetype and fontforge support.. I'll have a go when I get some time. I installed this one from an RPM.
  11. How about the EPC? Does that work for you through WINE? I'm having the same problem as I have with the NetSupport configuration screens - no text / fonts being displayed: http://www2.css-networks.com/epc.png
  12. I know. That was when she was learning to drive. I figured the auto would allow her to concentrate on all the other shit she was doing wrong without worrying about gears as well.
  13. Ah so you did see her then She'd been on her computer all night putting things on eBay, and I'd just put the clothes off my back into the washing machine. She wasn't paying me any attention so I started goofing around, and she was like "oh.. do that again.." and whipped out the camera I deleted it off the Camera, and I thought I'd deleted it from i-photo or whatever she uses on the Mac, but that bloody program has it's own Trashcan and doesn't use the main system one. I was furious. I mean, I can see the funny side but y'know when people are making websites specially dedicated to it (which I don't mind) I get worried that it's going to be one of those things that ends up everywhere on the internet. and I do look hideous there. I'd been applying this roll-on anti-acne thing all day long, and my hair all exploded like that.. Anyway she didn't use her brain, and hosted the pic with imageshack and doesn't have an account there so it was uploaded anonymously and can't be deleted. and apparently.. get this.. the reason it's ok for her to do that is because I posted an embarrasing picture of her once, which I hosted on my own machine and replaced with a "picture has been removed" as soon as she saw that it was actually on the internet. and that picture? it's not even close in terms of how embarrasing. http://www2.css-networks.com/yummy.jpg
  14. A thread shouldn't 'belong' to anybody though IMO.. it's an open discussion. But in the For Sale section i think it's a good idea as it makes it more like just an advert.
  15. I think that's a very logical idea. Gets my vote
  16. Are you able to get into tools -> configurations? I needed to go in there to set the security key which needs to correspond to that set on my clients. None of the options show up for me so I did it on another machine and imported the config. Great peice of software that is though.. been using it since version 4.5.
  17. I'm just thinking about it more. It's definately not a bleeder. There's no where to bleed to - it just has in and out and the screw. It's inline with the no2 wastegate actuator thingy.
  18. I might come to you for one of those then Chris. I'll have a play tomorrow anyway.
  19. I'm doing it right then.. clockwise for greater pressure, right. That's screwing it in..
  20. but it's not a bleeder, it blocks the pressure to the wastegate sensor thingy..
  21. I was presuming that screwing it in was in effect shortening the spring thereby making it more difficult for the boost air to move it inside and clean the ball over the outlet.. If it's screwed out then the spring is longer and slacker... I should read the instructions again I suppose shouldn't I. This particular MBC looks like a T-shape, if you know the type. I think it's been called a 'dawes' type before.
  22. hmmm... you might be onto something there. What do you reckon? It's been some time since I fitted it
