  1. If anyone wants, register with IGN.com and get an account then click the below link, there's 7000 beta codes http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/resistance2/index_reg.aspx Downloading the beta now - 2211mb!
  2. Portal = ace-ness. They're bring an expansion pack out for it too
  3. Has anyone on here played the beta of this game online at all? Is it any good? The videos look amazing and seems like a game you could waste hours on if you're the creative type. Just reading the news about the game being pulled from release due to a song having two lines from the Koran in it. Gotta love the PC brigade winning again didn't see Sony pull Resistance because the Church ranted at them about Manchester Cathedral (although I bet church would be a lot more interesting with rampaging mutants in it) People on eBay are now selling promotional/pre release copies for £100 or $300 in the states. Nutters.
  4. Carbon fibred bonnet green track day beastie sighted at the 'ring by my friend Matt on Sunday - he fecking woke me to tell me, but that you're from the Bournemouth area, don't believe we've met but wouldn't mind a peek at your motor sometime if you're local Did it beat the 8:40 set last year?
  5. Hey dude, saw you flying the other way past the Iford Bridge yesterday. Car's sounding nice And before you say it, yeah mine needs a clean. Was waxing it the other day and then work called me so it was a complete halfa***d job You live around the Christchurch area? Si
  6. Try sleeping in a different position, as you could be aggrevating the nerve. Also are you doing much weights (I read a thread somewhere you're running lots?) as you could be just putting too much pressure on the nerves/muscles in that area and so not allowing inflammation to go down as your muscles are obviously inflamed if being exercised regularly in a training/cv/weightloss regime. NSAIDS (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs) should help, i.e Ibruprofen, but this is only a temporary measure. I once slept in a really awkward position and a trapped nerve was so bad I couldn't look right, my neck hurt so much I saw purple spots in front of my eyes - a right b*****r when driving as I couldn't look out of junctions without moving my whole upper body. Painkillers or something to take the inflammation down helped, but all I could advise is rest and find the root cause, try having +1/-1 pillows in bed or try and sleep on your back. Hope this helps. Otherwise whiskey and a w*nk.

    Warning

I fell to the grim death last week. Luckily my mother's in the medical profession, so we had a defibrillator to hand.
  8. Seems a lot of people liked the dailymash.co.uk link about the credit crunch, I thought I'd start a thread with my favourite current events satire sites, add more if you know of some please http://www.dailymash.co.uk - some great stuff on the credit crunch http://www.therockalltimes.co.uk (front page safe, but don't be a dolt and click some of the stuff that will obviously lead to more NSFW satirical articles... you have been warned) http://www.theonion.com I think everyone needs a good laugh at work
  9. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/ninety%11nine-percent-have-fuck-all-anyway-200810131318/ Nothing like a bit of satire.
  10. It's without fault, that's for sure. Should be put in a concourse competition that.

    Sci-Fi books

anythng by phillip k dick would be a starting point I agree with others here, peter Hamilton is one of the leading sci fi auhors in the country right now. The nights dawn trilogy is quite large but whenever I've bought someone it they haven't complained Iain M Banks is always good with the Culture stuff
  12. Good luck chap A good cause too, seen friends mothers succumb to lung cancer, it's not nice and anyone putting in the effort to raise money to a cause like this is in my book a Good Man™. If we break a certain target can we get you to run it in a costume? Must come and get you to map my car sometime too
  13. They're going uber cheap in store in Sainsburys since yesterday. £99 for an arcade system, £139 for the 60Gb HDD version. And the Wii is £150 http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.phtml/18152/19176/Sainsburys-selling-Xbox-Arcade-pound99.phtml
  14. MESH is a good brand from what I've seen for shuttle. Video cards it's NVidia or ATI nowadays, ATI seem to have the edge on things regarding full size AGP cards, I'm not sure on the shuttle front though Processor Intel Core 2 Duo probably for a shuttle. AMD have screwed up their range currently until the successor of Barcelona comes out. Something like the Intel Core 2 Duo E7200. MSI S775 Intel 945GC DDR2 MATX AUDIO LAN seems like a good mobo without integrated graphics (Avoid the Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics like the plague if you want to play games) Last I saw DVD was hitting 24x read, 8x write for laptop sized drives. 2.5' form factor HDD's are cheap now too, admittedly you said you use less than 75Gb, but a 320Gb costs you £50 now and helps increase the longevity of the box. Trouble with playing decent games you're limited in a shuttle form factor for graphic cards aren't you? Most games now look to use very meaty cards with a huge thermal rating which I bet shuttles can't take. You want to play decent games on Windows now at a decent res and graphical quality IMHO a shuttle won't cut it. Why not have a games console for the job? Sainsbury's are doing a xbox360 for £99 this week... then you could consider buying a Mac Mini for a desktop replacement
  15. Always found it good to check out the reviews of hotels on laterooms.co.uk and tripadvisor.com before booking anywhere nowadays. But ignore what most americans say on reviews, most european hotel rooms are small in size compared to US and they all whinge about it. I've stayed in some 2-star hotels which seemed better than some of the 5-star I've stayed in. Some 4-stars are incredibly good and the only thing stopping them being 5 is poor access for the disabled. Sorry to hear you've got a crap room, nothing worse than that on a works trip. Ask for an upgrade and see what you get
  16. I can vouch that you can jailbreak an iPhone 3G as have done it for a friend twice (second time after he left the first one on his car's roof... oops). Check out http://www.hackthatphone.com/index_20.html Version 2.0 and 2.0.1 I have done it for, not tried it for 2.1 or upwards. Use Quickpwn though (google it or check out macrumors.com). Can be used on Windows or OSX, I'm not sure of any linux jailbreak tools out there atm. Si
  17. I'm wondering why it's overfuelling so much though, my guess is an o2 sensor issue as I assume here that you're running a stock setup with stock ECU as it's N/A. It's not sensing the right air mix and so bunging too much fuel in, the ECU I guess is overcompensating because of it. Are you also getting lousy economy? Has it ever stalled when throttle is WOT / open or only occurs when the throttle's shut? i.e Have you tried pulling away in 1st gear, WOT to 3-4k rpm then pull right off the throttle and it'll stall? Or have you had the injectors changed recently? Wrong flow etc. Did you change anything on it then the problem started occurring I wonder. Talk to Andy there, he's the guy that works on mine all the time and done my servicing for the last 5 years. P.S if your car's lowered at all then the speedbumps on the airport industrial estate may induce a little scraping as they're savage. Simon C
  18. How about a hockey mask? Of course you need to take along the obligatory machete. Or a welding mask? *edit* whoops, should've read to the last post I guess!
  19. I can't fault the guys at Triton myself, I've had my NA and my single serviced there for years, good blokes. Recently had my crank pulley go and they sorted it out pretty quickly. Overfuelling and stalling when you stop? Is it a quick stop? o2 sensor issue? Maybe the stalling is it's running too rich, you let off the throttle and so the engine dips revs to compensate for the overfuelling. I'd have said it was a MAF/MAP issue, but I assume yours is a J-spec being an N/A Aerotop. Speak to the guys at Triton, they're meant to have reasonable experience at mapping so should be able to help with the overfuelling diagnosing.
  20. Hey dude, can you lemme know cost + postage of the GT35 down to Dorset please? A friend's interested to put it on his Grenada Cosworth! PS sent my earl fittings yet? Si
  21. Would you look good in a peaked cap? (and I'm not talking about the kind with leather and studs..) I'm wondering when people are going to start talking about hyper-inflation akin to Zimbabwe After all, the base rate set by the bank of england seems to be totally irrelevant to the inter-bank lending rate currently.
  22. Sounds quite interesting doesn't it? Well, Ruf are making an electric Porsche... http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/09/30/tuf_leccy_porsche/ Looks damn good too.. I imagine it'd be freakily silent and I'd love to know it's 0-62 time with that much torque. Apologies if it's a pea-roast... I did search!
  23. That quite frankly is as ugly as sin. Ferrari are losing their way, I think a lot of passion has gone out of their designs now. Engineering's still good, some of the race cars are still nice, put the soft-top tripe and things like this they're pushing out the design office now make me long for their old stuff.
