Would facelift clocks from a TT facelift even plug in to a pre-facelift TT? After that would they actually work? New owner of my car wants to replace the dash panels as its got crap stuck on carbon fibre shoite that will probably ruin the finish on the dash panels when ripped off. He's been offered a full set of facelift panels with gauges but I don't reckon they will fit wiring wise or actually operate.

A word of caution on buying/selling Supra stuff at the moment

did you pop it open and change the bulbs? -
And I bet the cheapest ones out there could result in your car not being there when you get back

Size of stock twins vs a single turbo.
dangerous brain replied to Swampy442's topic in mkiv Technical
A 67mm turbo would need to run quite low boost to stay on stock fuelling. BPU++ twins are already in dodgy territory even with higher rated fuel pumps and raised fuel pressure. I'm still convinced that the Do-Luck was running ridiculous fuel pressure through stock pink injectors from Japan which would explain why those injectors were in it and it still performed up to 1.1 bar. Might go a way to explaining the heat damage to the fuel pump wiring and also the damage caused to the fuel pump control electronics in the AEM. Looks like the answer is 52-55 to leave all as is. The map would still lean out at the turbo switch over point which is often seen when using ETTC -
To be fair after I posted that I went looking and could no longer find either of the keys that I used to have. I believe that if you get the right blank to fit in the flip out key you could have one of those but it would stand you for about £40. The push button option would bring the car up to date though and I bet would become the next big thing once noticed at a car meet.

Ones got a Toyota supra gearbox:) What I wonder is how does that green one with the gargantuan turbo and a LS1 conversion with the bonnet vent exhaust not melt the windscreen?

Wow another dredged up question. There's been some recent traffic on it http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?315452-Supra-key-question-mines-ugly!/page2&highlight=flip+key http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?121449-What-does-your-supra-key-look-like&highlight=laserline Wonder if you could retrofit one of the new modern transponder jobs? http://www.advancedkeys.com/Prod_AK104S.html

right hand instrument panel not working

Stuck record I know but use the search. There are countless dry joint solder threads with photographs and guides. I did one over ten years ago!! -
Caravan, 17 seater minibus, ford fiesta, mk1 golf cab, bmw 5 series estate and a mitsi shogun on my drive. Supra sold last week so that's now gone.

NA aerotop possibly for sale, what is it worth?
dangerous brain replied to walkerstrider's topic in Supra Chat
Even if you are going to do it yourself you have to consider that time is money and even minimum wage the time cleaning up a bone of a shell, stripping it out and putting right an iffy paint job will take just makes it unviable. You've got a £2k offer IMO wake up and smell the beans, take the money and save for a TT or look at another supra in the £2k margin that is a better startup car. You can get 5 speed N/As with less miles and definitely auto N/As for that money. You really want a challenge buy the shell thats begging at Kerons right now for the £400 its offered for and get building with the £1600 spare cash youve got -
Simon B will be so pleased that his old car has featured like this. The lad that bought itwill also be well cheerful his Reg has been clearly shown on facebook and examples of a spirited driving tendency provided as evidence if required. If anyone knows the person that posted that video could you ask them to take it down or at least trim the first 5 or so seconds off it?

Don't worry chaps they still have the Stig!!! I know he doesn't talk a lot but a show with the just the Stig in it would do away with all the clowning and see a new era of hot supercars being ragged around

Discontinued? What are we supposed to do about replacement arms if toyota begin discontinuing this stuff? I need some front suspension arms by the sounds of it as I sold the car this week not realising the MOT had run out. To get it through the MOT it will need some suspension bits as it had started knocking at the front end. Does anybody know what the front end parts cost from Toyota with Steve Manleys discount?

What a set of utter battles that was. Most incredible match I think I have ever had the privelidge of watching was that England/France game. It was a bit like a barbarians match. I was hoarse from screaming at the French to kick the ball out when the clock had run down as they really did look like getting turned over and Irelands dreams would have been shattered. You kind of had to feel sorry for Scotland, Italy and France as they really were on the receiving end of highly confident rampaging teams. This world cup is looking like a good prospect if those three games are anything to go by.

My aristo which is a heavier car again with UK specs was fine on the road but suffered quite horribly from brake fade at Zandvoort and Castle Donington at the end of the straights. Trying to scrub off about 80 mph in as short a distance as possible is really not easy on any brakes and once those brakes have been heated up by a few laps they really don't like it. However I have never found that issue on any road road use ever.
-
Two very clear schools here though, the trackday people that need consistent repetitive hard braking, and others that only really pile a lot of speed off in one go hauling a car down at the end of a motorway slip-road or short stabby oops I need to get rid of a lot of speed quick braking on the road. The former may well require aftermarket brake calipers if the pads they are using don't cut the mustard, the latter would be going considerably beyond anything legal or sensible on the road to need to go any better.

I genuinely could not believe how Ireland threw that game away. Effort is not on it's own enough to win a game at the level international rugby has reached. The forwards really should have fed back out into the backs instead of bashing their heads on the post FFS there was two of them standing in space with their arms up and a welsh player crying oout for support as he'd seen the obvious danger. Our forwards were very guilty of not releasing the ball out, the welsh didn't make that mistake and played a very rounded game which is why they won. On the flipside that France Italy game was painful to watch, bloody awful in fact. It has added up to what will be an extremely explosive final round of matches. I reckon you'll see tempers resulting in a little light tickling You will effectively get three finals all of which will have you sat on the edge of your seat and all of which can affect what the other game needs to do!
-
For road use I'd be surprised if anyone could cook UK brakes with uprated discs/pads motul fluid and stainless lines. You'd have to be pulling it down from 140+ in rapid succession to render them faded. Wether K-Sport budget end would provide any more braking power or less fade I wouldn't like to put my own money on it.

The problem is that Clarkson is the brand, and he knows it!!
-
Yup. I struggled to find classic companies that would insure the Do-Luck. Too many horses scared them all off.

I think we have seen the end of top gear. It had gotten stale and samey. I think the whole presenting team are tired of the same old dirge. I'd not be at all surprised if all three of them walked away and left the controlling Beeb behind. There is probably as much money in the private videos they release themselves as the beeb pays them. I can't see the program continuing with replacement presenters therefore I think you'll need to turn over to Dave if you want to see the clowns in the circus top gear has been of late.

My kids now love his books. It is a real shame, the discworld novels had petered out a bit I'm guessing because of his Alzheimer's, can't be easy writing books if you forget what you were writing all the time.

I'm with Lynbrook just renewed and it was £211 for 4000 miles including being allowed to drive it to work. As it's not garaged and I don't really drive for fun at the weekend the only run it gets is to work of a morning occasionally.
-
I thought that was a lot better this week as well. The clowning about is only funny if they do it occasionally. A bit of a homage to an old British favourite with a Doing a practical and serious test on a car with a balanced approach also has its place. Reminded me of why I used to wait all year to watch it.

It's getting a bit tedious now. They've done all the jokes to death. Even putting the latest supercar round the track seems to have taken a bit of a dive behind the clutching at comedic straw gags that stopped being funny two series ago. The Stig was interesting for a few years but even that is a bit stale. It used to be that I quoted "the only program I sit down and watch is top gear" to my mrs to justify having 7 hours of TV to myself a year. Now I am mildly looking forwards to the next series of the game of thrones and not particularly arsed that top gear has gained a couple more episodes this year.
