  1. Hey guys, Yet another small issue with the supra this morning :'( Went to work and attempted to lock my supra using the Clifford key fob as it has a Clifford cat 1 installed. The alarm arms with a flashing blue light inside, but for some strange reason the doors no longer lock. I can open them after arming the alarm, which in turn sets off the alarm. I have tried using the button inside the car door to lock but again nothing happens. It does however unlock with the unlock sound. Stupidly I drive home from work as I couldn't lock it. Then realising I could manually lock it with the key. Can I still lock the car manually and activate the key fob Clifford alarm? Any advise once again would be appreciated. Regards Ashley
  2. Im insured with adrian flux and I have made them aware from the start that the body kit is fiber glass which they have recently spoke to me about and they also know about the larger front mounted intercooler. With the photos at the scene I took, they show that there was a fair space between myself and her car. Not sure why they would claim adequate space, considering she would have been in the wrong for reversing at a set of traffic lights in the first place, where you are only allowed to turn right onto the main road.
  3. I dont really see how im taking the piss to be honest. Seeing as after all I have just spent £2500 on a respray and fitting of a new kit. £700 on a new front mounted intercooler and fitting plus the remaining £14,000 I spent on restoring this entire car for someone to then reverse into me at a set of traffic lights. prior to it being hit, it was all brand spanking new, so I have every right to ask for compensation. The bumper has been fully inspected by my body shop who I have gone to for years now and when they saw the damage, they said they could try to repair it, but could not guarantee there work as it may start to show cracks in those areas again over time. Im just being honest about the damage that was caused after I was hit.
  4. Hey guys, Seeing as my Supra has had no head unit or audio for that matter from the start, I am now looking to getting an install done this year. However I just wanted to know your opinions on the matter? What speaker make should i go for? I have heard JL audio is the way to go these days, although I have always gone alpine. I believe we had some templates on here as well for the door speakers? I'm presuming that the original door speakers are pretty small? Also I am looking at a Sony XBT 601 touch screen head unit, which seems to review well. Want to link it to my windows phone if possible. Amp recommendations as well, as I have been told a 5 way amp with this particular head unit is the way forward. Not looking to install a sub as I have been there and done that twice now and they are always a pain. Not looking too much. Any help on this would be appreciated. Regards Ashley
  5. the damage to the front intercooler was sustained by the front bumper being pushed inwards and applying pressure to the intercooler in that area. Basically, on the JDL bumper, the fiber glass goes right back towards the intercooler with a fraction of spacing. So on impact its been pushed into the intercooler and caused that damage. I can assure you, the damage was not there prior as the car has only just recently been fully restored and the intercooler was brand new a few months back from whifbitz.
  6. The problem is mate that she hasnt 100% admitted to reversing via those texts i posted up. But she has offered to pay out for damages. Now why would she offer that if I had crashed into the back of her and why did she not claim through her insurance first off if it was all my fault? Her story has changed so she is just digging herself a bigger hole.
  7. Cheers guys. In regards to the reverse lights and bulbs. She didn't smash anything as it was mainly bumper to bumper. So not sure of that theory would work in this case. However the white fibers of fiber glass in the floor indicate my position on the road at the time of the incident. There would be evidence of fiber glass further up at the traffic lights if I had hit her.
  8. I agree with Ric. Everyone on here should install dash cams front and rear period. So if things like this happen, you have the evidence right there.
  9. I will be selling it. Its only dented in that one place. Not the point though as it was brand new a few months ago. Its a whifbitz front mounted intercooler.
  10. Just incase you guys may see anything I have missed, this is what was said to me via text. Her texts are the grey ones. I have of course blacked out any numbers for data protection.
  11. Well the quote I sent to her insurance was £1500 as I need a whole new bumper sprayed and fitted and a new front mounted intercooler as it was dented in where she reversed into me.
  12. Hey guys, As some of you may remember, a lady reversed into my supra at the traffic lights outside my house around 2 weeks ago now, so I notified my insurance as suggested and exchanged details with the opposite party. Took pictures of incident etc. Intially I was in communication with the Lady via text and she wanted to settle the damage to my car outside of insurance and offered to pay £300 towards it. She did also at this stage claim in her texts that it was 50/50 as in partly my fault as i did not reverse at the same time she did? When I made the claim through my insurance providers I did make it clear I wanted to go through her insurance first off as she reversed into me. I sent my insurers all the photos of the incident all the ladys contact info and insurance details and even a detailed account of what had happened, a detailed diagram and screenshots of the texts she sent me offering to pay for my cars damages. However in the last week, she has now changed the story with her insurers to me crashing into the back of her car at the lights. My insurance have disscussed this with me and dont beileve her one bit as the story does not add up. So I am awaiting for her insurers to send out someone to inspect my damages, they are just dragging it out. In the meantime since this event, after studying the photos from the incident. I discovered some forensic evidence to help fight the case. As fibers of the fiber glass bumper which are painted white are clearly visible and can been seen as photographic evidence taken at the time of the incident. If the Astra were hit by the Toyota Supra, the forensic evidence of fiber glass from the front bumper would be apparent at the traffic lights. Not further back down the road. The Astra would have also been pushed further forward across the traffic light area if it were to have been hit from behind. I have highlighted an image to help the evidence. What are your guys opinions so far. Do I stand in a good position, is there anything ive missed or could add? Any advice is once again appreciated. Regards Ashley
  13. Cheers for the advise. I'm gonna get a quote tomorrow morning for the bumper so I can send off to insurer. I have also had another good look at the car this evening to make sure no fluids are leaking etc. I did however notice that the body kit due to it being pushed back has dented in some of my radiator at the top. Should I also add this to the claim as it was brand new a few months back? Regards Ash
  14. Yep all sent to me via text So it seems I maybe in a good position to go either way now. I'm having the cars front inspected by Horsham Developments Monday afternoon just to make sure there are no other issues caused. As said when I had a good look all seemed to be ok.
  15. Cheers guys for all your help. I will be getting a dash cam. Really upset about it all as I have only just finished having it all built. At a slow speed would there be any other potential damage to the cars frame or rad? It looked ok when I inspected. I have just heard back from the lady and she now is saying she may want to just pay for the work to be done if reasonable. However I need a whole new jdl bumper which is £299 and it to be preped, sprayed and installed. Should I continue with insurance? Regards Ash
  16. Went up my lane to traffic lights and stopped with a reasonable gap between myself and the car in front. All of a sudden her reverse came on, so I beeped twice expecting her to stop. She didn't and hit my font bumper cracking all the fiber glass to bits. She claimed not to have seen me at first and the said that I should have reversed when she did. She now stated that its a 50/50 accident as in I'm at fault too. I do not believe to be. Contacted insurance so that's sorted. Any advise. Will she get away with it. Its about £500 to get a new bumper and respray.
  17. It only just happened yesterday morning after being sat for 2 days. Prior to that I was driving back and fourth with no issues, no noises. When I started her up yesterday the engine bay started emitting a strange noise. Like a rattling noise, not quite as bad as the one I'm the video. The rattling lasted a good 10mins until warmed up and then went to a slight squeak noise and then went fully. I then turned the engine off and as I did this it made like a scrape noise from the engine bay? I then drove to Horsham developments who specialize in race cars/imports and the car was fine with no noises an no issues. We turned off the car and let it cool and still no noise when started up again. Seems strange as the car ha been fine up until now. Also oil temps and other temps seemed fine. Oil and coolant were fine. Lights went off almost immediately. No issues.
  18. Hi Chris cheers for your help again. When you say knackered, do you mean the cam belt sounds knackered or the engine itself? As it was defo the same sort of noise on mine yesterday.
  19. So I came across this video of a supra on youtube , which is making a similar sound to what I experienced. This may help to identify
  20. Do you guys think it's likely to be the belts/ alternator/ crank? Not something major like the engine on its way out? Would belts cause or the other areas mentioned cause a grinding/rattling noise usually if they were wearing? Thanks for your help so far. Regards Ash
  21. Will get the crank pulley looked at and tightened if needs be. The supra is a 5 speed w58 TT 94, with brand new stage 3 + clutch and flywheel. Drives smooth as butter and engine does not feel lumpy or hesitate. As said it drove fine before this morning and drive ok after the car warmed up and the noise went away, when I drove to my garage.
  22. I would agree but the crank pulley I'm sure was replaced a couple of months back when Whifbitz restored the car for me. Is the crank pulley likely to go again. Keep in mind I have driven the car little and often and it has sat for a while in some cases. It's not until 2 weeks ago that I started driving it regularly and it was fine at that stage. Wasn't until this morning after 2 days of sitting that it started rattling and making strange noises. Any other possibilities? Also the flywheel was brand new along with clutch 2 weeks ago.
  23. I have left it with my garage for the next 2 days to let it cool down completely and to see if they can replicate the noise.
  24. Hi guys. Got my supra back recently an it's been a pleasure to drive for the last week and a half. Driving for the last few days back an fourth to work. Started up fine and shut down fine. However, this morning after being sat on the driveway for the last two days, I went to startup the car from a cold start and all of a sudden, a lot of rattling started happening from the engine bay. This then continued for a good 5 to 10mins until it had warmed up. I then turned the engine off and it made a slight scrape noise? After this I started her back up and then drove to my garage for a check up. It drove smoothly with no issues. We let it cool down and started her back up, with no noise. Really worried about this. Any ideas or advice on what may be the cause? Regards Ashley
